Alexis: Mayor Floyd is insisting that we release a statement naming persons of interest in the cannery explosion by this afternoon, so I'm going to go over the witness list but first I want a background check on -- on a few people if you don't mind. The first one is --

[Knock on door]

Alexis: Mari-- Marianna --

Sam: Hi.

Alexis: Yeah, let me call you right back. Good. Hey.

Sam: Hi.

Alexis: How's physical therapy?

Sam: Well, you know, I'm trying to tough out the pain.

Alexis: Oh.

Sam: But the truth is, I don't know if I can take another month of this.

Alexis: It'll get better; it'll get easier as you go.

Sam: Well, I don't think it can get much worse. I -- I spend two hours a day being tortured while the person who did this is walking around probably without even a scratch.

Alexis: The police have not given up on the person who was driving the car and neither should you.

Alexis: What time is your appointment this afternoon?

Sam: Uh -- I don't know -- 4:00.

Alexis: Hmm. Maybe you need somebody to go with you -- distract you.

Sam: No, no. If you're thinking about Lucky, it's not an option. No, thank you.

Alexis: I'm just thinking that he would probably enjoy keeping you company.

Sam: No, I doubt it. He's probably enjoying making Elizabeth happy, not me.

Alexis: See, and you saying that that way -- it implies that you still have feelings about Lucky.

Sam: I came here to talk about the accident --

Alexis: All right.

Sam: Not about my feelings.

Alexis: Duly noted.

Sam: Okay.

Alexis: What do you want me to do?

Sam: Okay. I have a question.

Alexis: Yeah?

Sam: Let's say the driver that was driving the car that hit me didn't realize they hit me, like, okay -- say they were, I don't know, drunk or high?

Alexis: Then they'd be charged with driving under the influence as well as hit-and-run. Impaired or not, that person is going to prison.

Sam: I mean, I -- whew. I guess that's only fair considering everything I've been through.

Alexis: Why are you asking so many questions, Sam? Do you remember seeing the person that hit you?

Sam: Okay, I -- I have been having these flashes from the night of the accident, and -- and before, all I could remember were little pieces -- like the car coming ward me, and hitting the ground.

Alexis: And now?

Sam: What if I remember seeing who hit me? Wait -- wait a minute, what are you doing?

Alexis: I'm calling Mac.

Sam: No, don't, please. I just -- I want to be sure before I give a statement to the police.

Alexis: If you have a lead, it's their job to follow it up.

Sam: Okay, and I agree. I just -- I need to sort through all of this first.

Alexis: The longer you wait, the more difficult it's going to be to make a case against this driver.

Sam: Okay, but I know what it's like to falsely accused, and I don't want to put anyone else through that.

Alexis: You need to let the police handle this. I mean it. You're not in any position to -- to perform your own investigation here.

Sam: Okay. All right, I'll -- I will tell you if I know any more details.
