[Phone rings]

Jerry: Oh -- oh, this can wait.

Jax: You can dodge my calls all you want, Jerry. But Carly and I are getting married on Friday, and I expect my big brother to be there.

Carly: Why are you so determined to have Jerry at our wedding?

Jax: Well, for one thing, it's his fault that we didn't get married on new year's eve like we planned. I mean, if it hadn't been for Jerry and his Russian oil debacle, I wouldn't have left town, and you wouldn't have spent all that time with Sonny.

Carly: You know, sometimes things happen for a reason.

Jax: Well, I can't think of an upside, you know, to Sonny tricking you into marrying him.

Carly: Wheft t I knew that I loved you and that you were the man I wanted to marry. But, you know, Sonny felt like unfinished business, like there wasn't real closure there.

Jax: Spending time with Sonny gave you real closure, is that what you're saying?

Carly: During the hostage crisis, we really thought we'd be killed. And it forced us to take a look at ourselves, and Sonny did not want to let me go. But he did. After months of fighting for me, he finally wound up at a place where he just wanted me to be happy.

Jax: And what about you?

Carly: Well, I got the distance and the clarity I needed to choose you with an open heart. So I'm kind of grateful to Jerry.

Jax: Well, now if he'll only show up at our wedding, we can thank him in person.

[Carly laughs]

Jerry: You're staring. What's so fascinating about me not taking a call?

Robin: I just find it interesting that you might have a personal life.

Jerry: Well, that could be problematic, given that I'm in the process of becoming an entirely new person.

Nikolas: His papers have come through. He's now officially Mr. James Brosnan, residing in London.

Robin: Well, congratulations.

Jerry: And pass the opportunity of conducting business under the umbrella of cassadine holdings? I think not.

Robin: Well, you can do business just as easily in London.

Jerry: Oh, I couldn't do that to my host. Nikolas needs the counteragent every 24 hours if he wants to survive, and I'm the only one with access to it.

Robin: You could leave us the counteragent and then --

Jerry: Enough! Learn to take no for an answer! Now, I will stay right here in this charming abode while you go off to work to keep paddy under control. Clear?

Robin: Yeah. I'll -- I'll see you later.

Nikolas: Yeah, yeah.

Nikolas: Whatever your objective is, I certainly hope it's worth the risk. Because as long as you stay here in Port Charles, the better chance you have to wind up dead.

Jax: You know, Jerry's been in trouble before. But this fiasco in Russia was by far the worst.

Carly: He was ok the last time you saw him, wasn't he?

Jax: I didn't actually see him.

Carly: You didn't see your brother?

Jax: No. I was always a couple of steps behind him. And we talked on the phone a couple of times when I could get reception, but Jerry just didn't feel the need to show his face.

Carly: You know, it's really hard to believe sometimes that you guys are from the same gene pool.

Jax: Hey, you know, we both love a challenge, we're good gamblers, we love games -- have a lot in common, you know -- except Jerry crosses the line every now and then.

Carly: He's a criminal.

Jax: That's not very nice. I wouldn't go that far.

[Carly laughs]

Jax: I mean, you know, his activities may be a little illegal sometimes in certain countries, you know?

Carly: And he's your brother and you lo

Jax: Yeah. He's my only sibling. I really want him at our wedding.

Carly: Ok. If you want to cancel or postpone until your brother --

Jax: Oh, no, no --

Carly: Then we can do that.

Jax: No, that's not what I mean. No, no, I'll pull out all the stops to try to get Jerry here by the time we get married, but we're getting married on Friday regardless --

Carly: Yes!

Jax: If Jerry shows up. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.

Carly: I was hoping you'd say that.

Jax: I'm sorry.

Jax: I just came from the ballroom at rice manor. Carly's right -- it's an absolutely perfect spot for our wedding and reception.

Jane: Oh, I'm thrilled for you, Jax.

Jax: Thanks for expressing that to her, too, because she really wanted your approval.

Jane: Oh, I'm very fond of Carly. Why wouldn't I be? She reminds me of myself in so many ways.

Jax: Yeah, you two hit it off the first time you met. Did. My only concern was her attachment to Sonny, but I can see she truly loves you, and that's all I want.

Jax: I'm really glad you're here.

Jane: Oh, I only wish that Jerry were here, too.

Jax: You know what? Why don't you call him again, because a little pressure from mom couldn't hurt.

Jane: Good idea.

Jerry: [Speaks French]

[Phone rings]

Jerry: [Speaks french]

[Ring]

Jerry: Hi, Mom. Is Jax with you?

Jane: Yes. And we both would like to know why you are refusing to come to your only brother's wedding.

Jerry: It won't be the first, and I lay odds it won't be the last. Why can't you take no for an answer?

Jerry: I -- I know I'm a disgrace, but I -- I'm sorry, it can't be helped.

Jane: Jerry, the wedding is on friday in the ballroom of rice manor in Port Charles.

Jerry: But I'm -- I'm quite a long ways away.

Jane: When you were in trouble in Russia, your brother hopped on a plane immediately -- the latest in a long line of rescues, I might add. The least you can do is show up at Jax's wedding.

Jerry: Bloody hell, you're relentless.

Jane: Have I worn you down?

Jerry: No, no. You know what? I'm genuinely sorry to disappoint you, but I'm at a crucial part of this current project and, you know, it could literally be fatal for me. Imagine what an inconvenience that would be.

Jane: Your life is always in crisis. Set it aside for a day or two and come to the wedding.

Jerry: Business calls. Talk soon. Bye. Do you know it's bad manners to eavesdrop?

Nikolas: It took me a moment to realize that was you on the phone. The tone in your voice was almost unrecognizable.

Jerry: They say it's very helpful to be versatile in my business -- you know, different hats for different occasions.

Nikolas: Oh, yes. Well, that particular hat sounded personal.

Jerry: Why don't you put your curiosity to rest and stop asking questions -- if you don't want me to withhold the counteragent tonight and see you writhing in pain? Excuse me.

Jane: Oh, Jax! This ballroom is splendid! What an ideal spot for the ceremony.

Jax: We're having the reception here, as well.

Jane: Oh, well, you have a lot to plan in a very short while -- you and Carly have your work cut out for you.

Jax: Well, we were supposed to be married last November, but we gave our wedding away to Luke and Laura. And then I had to postpone New Year's Eve because I had to go chasing after Jerry again. So this time, Carly and I come first. We're going to get married on Friday, and nothing is going to stand in our way.

Jane: I am so happy for you, Jax.

Jax: Thanks, Mom. I know that my matrimonial track record hasn't exactly been that great.

Jane: I have no doubts whatsoever. I know you and Carly will have a wonderful life together. I only wish your father could be here to join in the celebration.

Jax: He'll be here in spirit. I know that he would've adored Carly. And he'd be really happy that I -- that I found someone to spend the rest of my life with, you know?

Jane: Your father's absence is all the more reason Jerry should join us! You know, I could wring his neck that he couldn't find the time to come.

Jax: Yeah, well, Jerry's Jerry, you know? No one's ever going to change him.

Jane: Oh, true. But I know how much you were counting on your brother.

Jax: I'm sure Jerry's wishing me well, you know, wherever he is.

[Jax sighs]
