Ric:
I realize that I have been dropped from your primary calling circle
and that's fine with me. I just think --
[Alexis
coughs]
Ric:
There's got to be someone, somebody you can count on besides some
random stranger who stumbles on you while you're passed out in the
woods.
Alexis:
Well, maybe that's because the two people that I decided to count
on decided to have sex together on my living room floor. And if
that weren't bad enough, you stole my job, and then you stole my
baby, while I'm fighting for my life against cancer. So I want you
to tell me again why you find it hard to comprehend why I'm having
trouble leaning on anyone.
Ric:
I tried to hold our marriage together, Alexis. You shut me out.
Alexis:
That is such crap!
Ric:
Hmm.
Alexis:
You held on because you thought of a way to stick it to your brother
by raising his kid. And then you held on because you found a way
to use Sam and lord it over Jason. And then when I kicked you out,
you took my job.
Ric:
All right, that's okay.
[Alexis
coughs]
Ric:
Guilty as charged on all accounts. But, you know, I'd like to admit
to one other thing, Alexis, and that is the worst thing that I could've
done to you was love you.

Ric:
Look at your life, Alexis. No, really, look at the men who have
passed in and out of it.
Alexis:
Oh --
Ric:
You got Ned, you got Cameron, you've got me. I mean, everything
was fine right when it was acrimonious or when it was tentative,
but the minute any of us let our guard down and we said "I
love you," bam -- walls went up, doors slammed shut. I mean,
I'm surprised I actually got to marry you -- you left poor Ned standing
literally at the altar with his mouth hanging open.
Alexis:
You are the last person that should be commenting on my relationship
with anyone.
Ric:
The only person that didn't fit that particular pattern with you
was Sonny, and for one reason only. Because why -- he didn't love
you. I don't know, I guess that -- that must've been the charm to
you and why you've held a torch for him for so long.
Alexis:
I'm not carrying a torch for him, Ric, you are.
Ric:
Alexis, it's why Kristina means so much to you -- it's a piece of
Sonny that you can't have any other way.
Alexis:
I love both of my children regardless of who their fathers are.
My God, get yourself a shrink, will you?
Ric:
No, Alexis, but maybe you need to look into one. Because, clearly,
you seem to think that myself and every other man that you've had
a relationship with is responsible for your reasons why you choose
to isolate yourself -- never mind the daddy issues that maybe you
want to try to work out for yourself. Your own father, Alexis, chose
to take his bastard child and let it live with her mother. And then
when he did finally let you come live with him, he was unattainable,
right, he was aloof. He never paid attention to you, really never
said "I love you," but that seems to be the kind of man
that you deem worthy of your affection. So I guess nice guys really
do finish last with you.
Alexis:
Your mommy issues trump my daddy issues
any day.
Ric:
Okay, Alexis -- fine. Fine, be glib, okay? Pretend that nothing
I have said has hit a mark with you. I'm just glad that Kristina
ran into some man who was nice enough to help you, instead of kidnap
her while you were lying helpless on the ground.
Alexis:
Oh -- hey.
Kristina:
Do you know where Molly's baby is?
Alexis:
Baby Shelby? I don't, sweetie, I don't.
Kristina:
I know where she is.
Alexis:
Kristina, come back in, sweetie. We'll find Molly's baby some other
time, okay? I don't suppose there's any way you'll let molly spend
the night, will you?
Ric:
Well, I had promised that I was going to take her to the zoo and
everything, but --
Alexis:
Yeah, well, I made a lot of promises to molly, too, that you just
won't let me keep.
Ric:
Is Viola here? You -- you look like hell.
Alexis:
I look like hell because I have cancer, Ric. Kristina!
Ric:
You know, Alexis, I can take both the girls off your hands if it'll
make it easier on you.
Alexis:
That is not going to happen. You got to be kidding, right? Kristina,
honey, please?
Kristina:
I brought you some tulips because they make you feel better.
Alexis:
Thank you, sweetheart. They make me feel so much better.
Ric:
Kristina, Molly and I got to go home.
Kristina:
What about the tea party?
Ric:
I know, sweetie. Maybe you can -- maybe you can come by my house
sometime and -- and we can do it there, huh? Why don't you go say
goodbye to your sister, I'll be in in a minute.
Alexis:
Thank you. Well done. That was very manip--
Ric:
It just wasn't under your control.
Ric:
Oh, that's a good girl. What are you looking for, huh?
Alexis:
My nausea medication -- I can't find it. I don't know, maybe I left
it at Wyndemere.
Ric:
If you'd like for me to drop over there, maybe I can get it for
you.
Alexis:
No! No. Hi, sweetie. Come here. Did you find baby Shelby?
Ric:
Yes, she did. Kisses.
Alexis:
I love you. I'll see you later, tomorrow, okay?
Ric:
You know, Alexis, if you don't feel well, maybe --
Alexis:
I would rather walk on broken glass than have you stay here.
Ric:
Okay. Fine. Have it your way.
Alexis:
Bye, sweetie. I love you.

Ric:
Things have changed.
[Car
starts, drives away]
'[Knock
on door]
Alexis:
Hi.
James:
Hello. I believe these belong to you.
Alexis:
Oh, thank you. Thank you very much, I really appreciate it. I would
invite you in. I'm just not feeling that well right now.
James:
Are you alone besides you and your daughter?
Alexis:
That's an odd question. I don't know that I want to answer that.
James:
That's because as bright and resourceful as Kristina is, how many
times do you want her to see you unconscious?

James:
And your pulse is elevated. You clearly have a fever.
Alexis:
Are you a doctor, too?
James:
I'm an observant capitalist. There's more going on than being sick
to your stomach.
Alexis:
I'll be all right.
James:
Oh, the very words you probably said to your daughter before passing
out in the woods. Now, you're sick. So if you keep on staying in
the state of denial, there's no point in me being here.
Alexis:
Wait -- I'm sorry. I really am sorry. You're right, I -- I don't
feel well. I think something's -- something might be wrong.
James:
Do you have antibiotics?
Alexis:
No.
James:
So what can I do?
Alexis:
You can wake up Kristina and ask her to get dressed, then drive
me to the hospital.
