[Alexis
gasps]
Alexis:
Oh!
[Jax
laughs]
Alexis:
Hi! Hi!
Jax:
Hey.
Alexis:
Good to see you. Come in. I missed you.
Jax:
You look wonderful.
Alexis:
I do? You are a liar, but I love it. How -- how's your brother?
Jax:
He's alive, no thanks to the Russian mob. And I don't recommend
Siberia in the winter -- it's very cold there. How's the chemo?
[Alexis
sighs]
Alexis:
They've suspended it for a little while. Do you want the long or
short?
Jax:
Well -- well, whenever. I mean, I --
Alexis:
Ric is suing me for custody of Molly and he's going to win.
Alexis:
The chemo was really bad for a while, Jax. I was throwing up all
the time, and I was so sick that I couldn't keep up with Molly and
Kristina. When she'd see me rolled up in a ball on the couch, she'd
be scared and confused. So Sam had a friend that she brout over.
He's this computer genius, and his name is Spaghetti -- uh -- Spinelli.
And he -- um -- brought pot.
Jax:
What?
Alexis:
Weed, reefer, dope, maui wowee, wacky tobacky.
Jax:
Yeah, I -- I know what it is. So -- so you smoked pot?
Alexis:
I just said no, at first. And then I just said yes. It helped. It
helped -- I -- I got my appetite back, I felt better, I -- I slept
through the night. I was able to be a mother again to my children.
Jax:
So that's -- I mean, that's a good thing, right?
Alexis:
Until Ric had me arrested.
Jax:
You got to be kidding me.
Alexis:
Did you know that medical marijuana is only legal in 11 -- 11 states
-- and this isn't one of them?
Jax:
Oh. So how did he find out?
Alexis:
I don't know how he found out -- he was probably hiding in the bushes.
The point being is -- is he's using this to get custody of Molly.
He's using it as leverage. He's going to tell them that I'm not
only too ill to take care of the kids, but I'm a dope fiend.
Jax:
I'm not going to let him get away with this.
Alexis:
There's nothing you can do, because I've made him mad. I'm not giving
in to his custody demands.
Jax:
Oh, you can't possibly be blaming yourself for this?
Alexis:
I'm just stang the facts. The facts are that he sees Molly as his
salvation to right all the terrible wrongs of his childhood. He's
desperate.
Jax:
Oh, there's got to be someway you can work out a compromise --
Alexis:
Too late. I'm telling you he is not giving up. And I
will not give up my daughter without a fight.
Alexis:
Everything spiraled downward once he had me arrested.
Jax:
That's unbelievable.
Alexis:
Nice, huh?
Jax:
Thanks.
Alexis:
You know that I can't back away from this custody suit?
Jax:
I'll be your character witness if you need me.
Alexis:
Thank you.
Jax:
You're a good mother.
Alexis:
Now Sonny's going to help, too -- even Carly. That has a hint of
desperation, doesn't it?
Jax:
No, no, no, not at all.
Alexis:
You know, the point is, is that I did smoke pot in this house where
the children live and the judge is not going ignore that.
Jax:
Ok, so what's your perfect-world solution to all this?
Alexis:
I'm much better at worst-case scenarios.
Jax:
Ok, you know what? Put aside the anger and just tell me what it
is you want.
Alexis:
I want Ric to drop the possession charges. I want him to drop the
custody suit. I want Molly to live in this home with her sister
and with me, and I want Ric to visit when he feels he needs to visit.
Jax:
Sounds reasonable.
Alexis:
It's not going to happen. No one here is going to compromise. There's
no hope of that.
Jax:
Hmm. There's always hope -- you know that.
Mayor Floyd: I do not appreciate being summoned.
Ric:
I didn't call you.
Mayor Floyd: Well, then who left that urgent message with my secretary
telling me to meet you here?
Jax:
Well, that would be me. Gentlemen, listen, because I'm only going
to say this once. Drop the custody suit and all drug charges against
Alexis, or you and the mayor will be out of a job.
Alice:
We have another visitor -- Miss Alexis Davis.
Tracy:
What do you want?
Alexis:
I just wanted to tell you how sorry that I am. Really. I had a lot
of admiration for alan.
Edward:
Well, that may be the case, but you are still a Cassadine, and it's
a blessing that Ned didn't marry you.
[Ned
sighs]
Ned:
Don't you ever stop?
Edward:
Oh, god.
Ned:
Emily -- oh, sweetheart. Oh, it's ok.
Monica:
Ahem.
Ned:
Monica -- oh. So sorry.
Edward:
All right, what took you so long?
Monica:
Oh, Edward, stop.
Ned:
Grandfather.
Ned:
Mother.
Tracy:
Thank you.
Ned:
I'm so sorry.
Alexis:
And I'm sorry.
Ned:
Oh.
Jax:
Back off Alexis, or I'll set up a press conference with grieving
Quartermaines, devastated hospital staff, and a few hostages thrown
in for good measure. They'll say that one of the most beloved and
respected men in Port Charles died because D.A. Lansing botched
the hostage negotiations.
Ric:
All right, nobody could deal with those people, and everybody from
the mayor on down knows that.
Jax:
The same mayor who gave you your job while your wife was in chemotherapy?
The same mayor who allowed a simple robbery to turn into a deadly
hostage crisis in the lobby of my hotel?
Ric:
Hyperbole and threats aside, Mr. Jacks, I have every legal right
to full custody of my daughter. But you go right ahead and do whatever
you feel you need to.
Jax:
Mayor, perhaps you could talk to your handpicked D.A., because if
you don't, the press is going to be looking for a scapegoat. Just
imagine the sound bites. "Mayor Floyd, did you know that the
D.A. was incompetent when you hid him?"
Ric:
Hmm.
Jax:
"Mayor Floyd, why did the D.A. tell the cops to shoot?"
And my favorite -- "Mayor Floyd, are all your appointments
political favors?"
Ric:
Why don't you go chase Carly? I'm sure she's looking for you.
Jax:
Yeah, I think the mayor might have a different opinion about that,
so you might want to chat. Have a good day.
Alexis:
It's good to see you, Ned -- of course, not under these circumstances,
but you know that.
Ned:
How are you doing?
Alexis:
Been better, but, honestly, I've been worse. How are you? How's
Brook Lynn?
Ned:
She's still singing.
Alexis:
You must be really proud of her.
Ned:
Yeah. It's all I can do not to hover. I keep telling myself that
she's a big girl, you know, it's -- she has to make her own decisions,
but it's hard.
Alexis:
It's terrifying to think about Molly and Kristina going off on their
own someday.
Ned:
You know, you always think it's going to be easy being a parent
-- until it's your turn to actually do the job. Alan -- he understood
about family. And he understood that there's nothing more important
than your kids.
Alexis:
Nah. Nothing.
Mayor Floyd: You better get your priorities straight. Jasper Jacks doesn't
make idle threats.
Ric:
Well, let him go to the press. There was so much confusion going
on that night at the hotel, nobody really knows what went on.
Mayor Floyd: Yeah, you know, as I recall, it was your job to make sure
there wasn't any confusion. You're very quickly becoming a political
liability.
Ric:
Molly's the only good thing I have ever done in this life. I do
not plan on giving her up.
Mayor Floyd: Fine, I understand. But if Jax causes any trouble for me,
I will drop you like a bad habit and find someone to replace you
who's a little more appealing -- and easier to control.
Alexis:
I knew I should've gotten the locks changed.
Ric:
Our court date is next week.
Alexis:
Yes, I'm very well aware of that, Ric.
Ric:
You'll lose. Believe it or not, I really don't want to see you go
through that.
Alexis:
Thanks, that's really nice of you.
Ric:
Alexis, I'm offering you one more opportunity, one last chance.
Please, just sign over custody of Molly before the court decides
it for you.
Alexis:
I see.
Ric:
Alexis, Molly is going to be fine with me. You can have visitation
whenever you want.
Alexis:
I appreciate that.
Ric:
So does that mean you're going to settle this out of court?
Alexis:
If you want to take an innocent child away from a mother with cancer,
that is entirely up to you, but you're going to have to do it publicly,
Counselor. And while you're at it, why don't you announce that you
slept with your own daughter's sister and then tried to kill her
with the taxpayers' money? You can or cannot tell them that you
work 80 hours a week and don't have enough time to take care of
a house plant, let alone a toddler, but that's entirely up to you.
Ric:
Fine. You started this fight.
Alexis:
You started it, Ric! You started it! But I'm going to finish it.
You try to take Molly from me, and your political future is over,
as is your job -- I'm sorry, my job.
Ric:
Well, I -- I really do enjoy being D.A. of this city, but Molly's
my daughter. There really is no comparison.
Alexis:
So you say. I don't know. I'm going to wager that we really never
make it inside a courtroom, because as much as you say you love
Molly -- and I really think you do -- I know you love yourself more.
