Alexis:
Hi there.
Sam:
Hi.
Alexis:
Congratulations on your new job.
Sam:
Thank you.
Alexis:
You're working for Carly -- she's your boss. Good luck. It'll get
easier when Jax's here.
Sam:
Oh, no, I actually plan to keep my distance from both of them. I'd
like to think that I can handle this job on my own without any help
from either of the owners.
Alexis:
You can, and you will. It's very commendable.
Sam:
Thank you. I'm sure you didn't come here to get an update on my
employment.
Alexis:
Actually, I came to find out where Carly is because I need to speak
to her.
Sam:
Oh. That's easy. I think she's at Sonny's.
Alexis:
Oh. Good. Thanks.
Sam:
Alexis --
Alexis:
Yeah?
Sam:
Um -- if -- if you need any help -- if you need to put me on the
stand and grill me about that night with Ric -- um -- by all means,
do so. Whatever is going to help you keep Molly.
Alexis:
I appreciate that. But here's the thing about family court. Ric
can sleep with his wife's daughter -- they don't much care. I can
smoke some pot to ease the pain of chemo -- I can lose my kid.
Alexis:
Ric found a baggie of pot -- or I should say his policeman found
that when they had a nice old search warrant to prove that I'm an
unfit mother.
Sam:
Yes, but there's also proof that you have cancer.
Alexis:
That would matter if we were in the state of california or the other
10 states where medicinal marijuana is legal, but unfortunately,
that's not the case in New York, so I'm just going to have to take
the high road -- hope for a sympathetic judge that feels that it's
in Molly's best interests to stay with me.
Alexis:
Hi.
Carly:
Hey.
Alexis:
I'm sorry to interrupt. Sam told me that Carly was here.
Carly:
What's up?
Alexis:
I'm asking you to testify on my behalf at Molly's custody hearing.
Carly:
Are you serious?
Alexis:
I was hoping you'd have some interesting stories about Ric to tell
the court, explaining why he should not have primary custody of
Molly, which is what he's asking for.
Carly:
You don't like me at all, and you don't approve of me, or the way
I raise my children, so why would you want me to endorse your fitness
as a mother?
Alexis:
You didn't tell her?
Carly:
Tell me what?
Alexis:
I got arrested for smoking pot.
Alexis:
I was using the pot to help me deal with the chemo, and Ric caught
me and he's using it against me to say that I'm an unfit mother,
so I can use any help that anybody wants to give me.
Carly:
Even from me?
Alexis:
I would really appreciate it if you could just say that the children
were very well adjusted when they came to stay with you both for
that short time when I was in the hospital and, look, you don't
even have to say that I'm a good mother. If you just say that I'm
not a bad mother, it would help. It -- it would also be a -- a --
a very gracious gesture to the children. Anything that you would
say would really contribute to helping me.
Carly:
You want me to testify under oath that you're a good mother? I can
do that.
Alexis:
You can? I really appreciate that.
Carly:
It wouldn't even be perjury. You and I are never going to be friends,
but I know you love your children. You'd throw yourself under a
train for them. I have no problem at all testifying
that Kristina and Molly will be much better off with you.
Alexis:
That's really very nice of you, Carly. It is. And I -- I want you
to both feel free to burst out laughing when I walk out of the room.
I'll have no problem with that, A, because I am standing here begging
you for help, and, B, because I was smoking pot.
Carly:
There's nothing funny about cancer. And ok, you know, the way you
got a little creative on how you dealt with your chemo may make
me smile. But whatever you have to do,
Alexis, do it.
Alexis:
I appreciate that. Thank you. I'll see you in court.
Sonny:
(to Carly) You can be truly magnificent.
Carly:
If Alexis weren't sick, I would've laughed my butt off at the fact
that she got busted for smoking pot, but you know, chemo sucks.
I don't know what I would do to get through it. She has two small
kids, a psycho ex-husband trying to get custody. You do what you
got to do.
Sonny:
Alexis doesn't have a lot of support and -- and Ric's being a total
bastard.
Carly:
She knew Ric when she married him. I guess that's the thing about
love -- you know, you get caught up in the passion and you don't
see the reality of the situation. Sometimes you don't see the person
for who they really are. And the one thing you can't do is try to
change them into who you wish they were.
