"Ric and I Bought a House"

Alexis: How is she?

Kelly: Dr. Drake does exceptional work. You're getting stronger. There seems to be no side effects from the procedure.

Alexis: That's good news.

Sam: When can I go home?

Kelly: Soon.

Sam: "Soon." Huh. How soon? Like, "later today" soon or -- or what?

Kelly: You're doing better. We still need to monitor your vitals. Trust me, you'll be home sooner than you think. There's no reason to push yourself.

Alexis: Thank you.

Kelly: Yeah.

[Sam groans]

Sam: I don't know how long I can lay in this bed.

Alexis: Sam, have you given any thought to where you want to go when you're released here?

Sam: With Jason, yeah.

Alexis: Ok, if that arrangement doesn't work out the way that you want it to, I just want you to know that you're perfectly welcome to stay with us. We'd like that.

Sam: Yeahwith you, I mean, there's -- there's four of you there, you're in an apartment. I -- am I supposed to sLeep on the couch or --

Alexis: Oh, space is not a problem. Ric and I bought a house.

Alexis: I'm looking for a house. I just need it to be large enough for me, my husband, and three daughters. I'd like it in a good school district. I don't care much about the architecture, I just need the house -- today. Hi.

Jax: Hey.

Alexis: Is john all right?

Jax: Yeah, yeah, he's fine. He just had his routine checkup.

Alexis: Oh.

Jax: He surpassed Dr. O'donnell's expectations, didn't you?

Alexis: Oh, I'm so glad. He's cute. Can I talk to you for a minute?

Jax: Sure. What do you need?

Alexis: I think the shock of me finding out that I'm Sam's mother is -- is causing me to have a bit of a breakdown.

Jax: Oh. What are your symptoms?

Alexis: I've aligned myself with Carly, which you and I both know is beneath me.

Jax: Besides insulting the woman I'm with, I'm still not following you.

Alexis: Jason has broken up with Sam, and -- and it was a very kind and a generous thing to do in that he's acting in her best interest, because you know that she wouldn't be there if it weren't for him. And despite a bullet wound and despite her nearly dying, she's still determined to win him back.

Jax: And that's made you lose your reason?

Alexis: Apparently I have passed on my self-destructive gene to Sam, and in an effort to try to save her from herself, I'm contributing to her pain by -- by supporting Jason in leaving her. But she doesn't know that, so I'm already lying to her. I've had a relationship with her about five minutes. Now, how am I going to build any further than that if I'm keeping secrets from her already?

Jax: Well, you got to be careful, you know? It's -- sometimes that's what parents need to do.

Jax: Look, you have every reason to be worried about Sam. It's not as if you don't want her to be with Jason because he didn't go to the right schools or anything. He got her shot. As long as Sam is with Jason, then her life is in danger.

Alexis: That's what I keep telling myself, but I'm afraid I'm rationalizing.

Jax: If it were John's life in the balance, I would do whatever it took to keep him safe. When Kristina was sick, you refused to give up until you found a way to save her. You're a good mother, Alexis. You should never feel guilty about trying to protect any of your daughters.

Nikolas: How you feeling?

Sam: Oh, you know, better. I'm just -- I'm ready to get out of here, that's all.

Nikolas: I see you've inherited the Cassadine trait of impatience.

Sam: I -- yeah. I mean, it's strange to think I have all this family out there and I know absolutely nothing about any of them.

Nikolas: After hearing some stories, you might consider that a blessing.

Sam: Ok, try me.

Nikolas: Ok. Let's see -- well, the Cassadines left Russia during the Revolution, bought an island in Greece, and then settled in so they could continue their obsession with power. There you go.

Sam: Oh? Now, that sounds gothic.

Nikolas: Do you have a problem with gargoyles and family crests?

Sam: No. Please, go on.

Nikolas: Ah. Well, your mother, she's -- she's my favorite relative. Slightly controlling, though the sanest member of the family. I know you've had the misfortune of already meeting my grandmother who has the distinction of being the most lethal of the remaining Cassadines.

Sam: Oh, yeah, that's a lesson I will not forget. Where is Helena now?

Nikolas: Well, I had some people watching her at the family compound. She somehow manageto bribe her way out. It's only a matter of time before she shows up.

Sam: When I was a kid I used to dream about having a big family, you know, with sisters and cousins and all these people that I was -- I was connected to, but -- I'm a little overwhelmed right now.

Nikolas: I know. But having Alexis as a mother is good for you. As for the rest of the Cassadines, just be careful what you wish for.

Sam: Oh.

Ric: How's Sam?

Alexis: Better. She's being moved out of I.C.U. tomorrow and released soon.

Ric: Um -- are the girls all right?

Alexis: Good. Kristina's at a play date, so Viola took them both to the park.

Ric: Yeah, I was under the impression that there was some sort of an emergency, considering you left six urgent messages with my secretary.

Alexis: Well, that's because you weren't answering your cell phone.

Ric: I was with a client.

Alexis: Which is why I left a message with your secretary.

Ric: Ok, do you care to share why you had her pull me out of a deposition?

Alexis: Sure. I was hoping maybe you could sign this.

Ric: What is it?

Alexis: No contingencies, no added clauses. It's a standard contract, and -- and we'll close escrow as soon as possible.

Ric: Escrow on what?

Alexis: Our new house.

Ric: I've been lobbying for months to move out of our apartment, and you refused to even consider it. I think your argument was that we already live in the perfect location. And now, out of the blue, you go and buy a house?

Alexis: The real estate agent said it's one of the best school districts in the county.

Ric: Have you even seen it?

Alexis: I took a virtual tour. It looks nice. Here's the web address. Take a look. If you don't like it, we don't do it.

Ric: Ok, listen -- let me get this straight. You purchased a house from a virtual tour that you saw on the internet? Ugh -- ok. All right, anything else I need to know before I, of course, agree to this carefully planned out, well thought out move?

Alexis: When Sam is released from the hospital, I want her to come live with us.

Ric: You might want to consider talking to Sam about that before you buy a house with her in mind. She might not be as compelled to say yes as I am.

Alexis: I know. I will. She and Jason have broken up, and she has no place else to go, and I want her to know that she has a home and she has a family if she chooses.
