"I
am Asking as her Mother For You Not To"
Alexis:
Hello, my friend.
Carly:
Great. Another all-time fave.
Jax: We were just about to call you.
Carly:
We were?
Jax:
Yeah, we were planning John's christening, and we were hoping that
we could count on you.
Carly:
Uh -- must have missed that one.
Alexis:
Are you asking me to be John's godmother? You betcha. I accept.
Carly:
Excuse me. Can I talk to you? What are you thinking?
Jax:
You can't react like this every time I exchange words with another
woman.
Carly:
That is not what this is about, and you know it.
Jax:
Oh -- of course I'm going to tell Alexis that you're John's godmother.
Carly:
I have bigger concerns than that right now. Alexis is a Cassadine,
ok? She's John's great-aunt by blood. What if she figures that out?
Jax:
How?
Carly:
I don't know. What if she sees John in his christening gown and
she's, like, "oh, that looks like Great-Uncle Tom"?
Jax:
Carly --
Carly:
What about that birthmark of John's that we think is so cute? What
if that runs in the Cassadine family?
Jax:
Whoa -- I think -- I think you're overthinking this.
Carly:
I think you need to be grateful that I am. I'm being serious, Jax.
When you look at Alexis, you see an ex-wife and a good buddy. I
see a potential threat to the secret about John's paternity. And
another thing -- what's it going to look like when you invite Alexis
to be the honored guest at the christening right after you asked
Nikolas to stay the hell away?
Jax:
Sorry. I apologize if there was any misunderstanding, but --
Carly:
But Jax has already asked me to be John's godmother.
Jax:
Right, but I wanted to invite you to the christening.
Carly:
We understand if you can't make it, though. I mean, look at your
life. It's so busy -- a husband, two daughters, brand-new job as
D.A. Oh, and then now you're finally taking care of that daughter
you abandoned years ago, aren't you?
Alexis:
I know how much little John means to you. And in spite of that --
[Carly
sighs]
Alexis:
Woman's presence, I wouldn't miss this christening for all the world.
Jax:
Thanks. Bye.
Carly:
Hey.
Sam:
You came.
Carly:
Yeah. I've always been a little too curious for my own good. What's
up?
Sam:
You and I have never been friends. I know this, but on occasion,
we've come to a meeting of minds and I was just kind of hoping that
maybe that would happen now.
Carly:
I'm listening.
Sam:
You know that Jason and I love each other.
Carly:
I know that.
Sam:
We broke up. Scratch that -- Jason broke up with me. He doesn't
think that he wants anything to do with me anymore.
Carly:
You know he's just trying to protect you?
Sam:
Yeah, well, you know what, Carly? I don't need to be protected from
the man that I love. I called emily and I asked her to get Jason
and have him at least hear me out.
Carly:
Ok, that's not going to work.
Sam:
Obviously, I am desperate or I would not have called you. Emily
doesn't think she has the influence to change Jason's mind.
Carly:
She's right about that.
Sam:
You do. You are the one person who can get to Jason whenever anyone
else can't, and I am just -- I'm asking you, Carly. I am begging
you to help me.
Carly:
Sending someone to plead your case isn't going to work. Jason does
what he wants to do -- he always has, Sam.
Sam:
Not always. He has done plenty of things for you against his better
judgment. You know that, and I am not asking anybody to plead my
case. I will do that all on my own if given the chance.
Carly:
So you want me to soften him up a little bit?
Sam:
You want Jason to be happy. You know he is happy with me. If you
don't do it for me, at least do it for him.
Carly:
Ok, I can't guarantee the outcome.
Sam:
Understood. Thank you.
Alexis:
Carly, may I speak to you for a moment?
Carly:
What's the moral lecture this time? How I'm corrupting Jax or how
he's sacrificing his son to the evil godmother?
Alexis:
I'm not feeling very moral at the moment in that I am asking you
to unite with me in a common cause. You and I both agree that it
isn't healthy for Sam to be with Jason. I overheard you talking
to her and I heard Sam ask you to help her with Jason, and I
am asking as her mother for you not to.
