"I
am Here, and I'm Not Going Anywhere this Time"
Monica:
Oh.
Emily:
Hey.
Monica:
Hi. Hi, sweetie.
Emily:
Sam's getting weaker.
Monica:
Did Jason tell you that?
Emily:
I was out last night with Kelly Lee and she mentioned it.
Monica:
Well, we've been giving Sam regular transfusions, but her pressure
keeps dropping and her blood is not clotting.
Sam:
Jason?
Monica:
Um -- he's going to be right back. He just went to do something
for you, Sam.
Jason:
Sam wants only one thing, and I have to give it to her so she can
let go, so you need to understand how --
Alexis:
Jason, why are you here?
Jason:
Sam is your daughter.
Alexis:
Ahem. Jason, there's obviously some kind of mistake.
Jason:
After Danny died, they did a D.N.A. test.
Alexis:
Jason, you've made a mistake. Sam not my daughter. My daughter is
dead.
Alexis:
I've already explained all this to Sam. I had a daughter, I gave
her up for adoption, she died.
Jason:
You got pregnant when you were 16. You took the spring semester
off from your school, briarton-griggs academy in new hampshire.
You went to the bilmont clinic in maine and had a baby girl on Sunday,
May 11, 1980, Mother's Day.
Alexis:
How do you -- how do you know all that?
Jason:
Because that's when Sam was born -- at the Bilmont Clinic. We have
the records, Alexis. We tracked down the other mother who gave birth
at Bilmont that day, she had a boy. Your baby was a girl, it was
Sam.
Alexis:
I saw the death certificate.
Jason:
Look, if you need to run a D.N.A. test, that's fine. But I'm telling
you that Sam's your daughter, and she needs you right now!
Jason:
Think about it -- no one else was a match for Kristina, but Sam's
baby saved her.
Alexis:
The baby and Kristina were both Sonny's children.
Jason:
Well, and you and Sam are mother and daughter, Sam and Kristina
are half sisters.
Alexis:
No, no, no.
Jason:
Alexis, what proof do -- what proof do you have that your daughter
is dead? Some form in a -- in a lawyer's office? Why would it even
be there? Who goes back and puts a death certificate in an adoption
file? Nobody does that.
Alexis:
My father. Ahem. My father -- ahem -- didn't want anyone to find
out. It was all a lie.
Jason:
Sam is running out of time, and she needs you.
[Monitor
beeps]
Sam:
You are a great mom. Jason is very lucky to have you.
Monica:
Well, he didn't always feel that way.
Sam:
Jason has trouble expressing his feelings. But he loves so deeply.
Oh, god. If anything happens to me, stay close to him, please? Let
him know --
[Alarm]
Monica:
Her pressure's dropping. She's going to need a transfusion. Sam?
Sam, come on, now. You got to fight, Sam. Stay with us.
[Phone
rings]
Alexis'
voice: Hi, it's Alexis. Please leave a message after the tone.
[Voicemail
beeps]
Ric:
Alexis, it's me. I just got back to your office and you're not here.
Where are you? What happened with Jason? I'm worried about you.
Just call me, all right? Do you know where Ms. Davis went?
Secretary:
She left a little while ago with Jason Morgan.
Ric:
Did she say where she was going?
Secretary:
No, but they were in a hurry, and she seemed upset.
Jason:
How's she doing?
Monica:
Oh, I'm glad you're back. Well, her pressure dropped. We gave her
another transfusion, but her B.P. is not responding the way it should.
Alexis:
May I sit with her?
Jason:
It's ok.
Monica:
Jason, I got to be honest with you. I don't know how long Sam has,
and I know that she would want to spend it with you.
Jason:
Alexis is Sam's mother.
Monica:
What?
Sam:
Mom.
Alexis:
Hi.
Sam:
I'm dreaming again.
Alexis:
Not unless I am, too.
Sam:
You're real. You're real, but I don't know how.
Alexis:
Jason told me. I want to say the magic words to you right now that's
going to make all of this all better for you, but I don't know what
they are. All I can tell you is that I
am here, and I'm not going anywhere this time.
Sam:
Thank you.
Alexis:
It's ok.
Sam:
Thanks, Mom.
Alexis:
The's a lot that we need to talk about, and a lot that neither of
us understand, but for now we'll just hold hands.
Sam:
I'm glad Jason told you.
Alexis:
Me, too.
Sam:
Is he here?
Jason:
I'm right here.
Sam:
Thank you for bringing her. I know it's probably the last thing
you wanted to do. But it was my gift.
Jason:
I would do anything for you.
Alexis:
I want to check on her condition. I'll be right back.
Sam:
Thank you.
Jason:
I'm happy for you.
Sam:
I love you.
Jason:
I love you, too. I always will.
Alexis:
Monica --
monica:
Huh?
Alexis:
Can you tell me what's going on with Sam?
Monica:
Well, actually, Dr. Lee has been overseeing Sam's case. She can
really answer your questions.
Alexis:
Thank you. Dr. Lee, I want you to tell me what I can do to help
her.
Kelly:
Sam was shot in the lower back. During surgery to repair the bullet
wound, she began to hemorrhage. Though the operation was successful,
she developed a condition called C.C.D.
Alexis:
So how do you treat that?
Kelly:
She's been receiving trsfusions of plasma and blood, but we've been
unable to relieve the condition. Her blood pressure continues to
drop. I'm sorry. Your daughter is dying.
Alexis:
Then you need to find someway to help her.
Sam:
I'm so sorry. I have to leave you.
Jason:
Don't be sorry -- for anything.
Sam:
Jason, I'm tired. I'm tired.
Jason:
Just try to get some rest, ok?
Sam:
Can you promise me something, please?
Jason:
Anything.
Sam:
Don't let them take my ring.
Jason:
I promise.
Alexis:
Jason -- ahem -- would you mind if I sat with her for a minute?
Jason:
She just fell asLeep.
Alexis:
I convinced Dr. Lee to give her more transfusions. Apparently the
C.C.D. has reversed itself -- in some cases. Ahem. Do you mind if
I wake her up and tell her?
Jason:
That's fine.
Alexis:
Sam, it's Alexis. Sam, wake up. Sam, wake up. Please, wake up, Sam.
I have...
Ric:
Well, Jason's made another move. I think he might be losing it.
Sonny:
Jason's at the hospital with -- with Sam.
Ric:
No, no, he came looking for Alexis. I was with Alexis at John Durant's
office, and Jason -- Jason came in and he insisted on speaking to
Alexis alone. So I -- I went to the courthouse and I filed some
papers, and when I came back, they were both gone. The secretary
said that they left together and that Alexis was visibly upset.
I've been calling Alexis' cell phone, Sonny. I can't get ahold of
her. My only guess is that Jason has taken her somewhere.
Sonny:
To Sam.
Ric:
To Sam? Why -- why would he take her to Sam? Sam despises Alexis.
Unless -- less Sam wants to make peace with Alexis. I don't --
Sonny:
Yeah, something like that.
Ric:
"Something like that"? What -- "something like that"?
What are you talking about, Sonny? What --
Sonny:
Alexis can tell you.
Ric:
No, Sonny. Alexis has disappeared with a man who tried to kill me,
so why don't you tell me what's going on.
Sonny:
It's not --
Ric:
What?
Sonny:
Ok, do you want me to tell you? I will tell you. The child that
Alexis gave up when she was 16 --
Ric:
Right?
Sonny:
Is Sam. Alexis is Sam's mother.
Kelly:
Sam is continuing to weaken.
Alexis:
Then give her another transfusion.
Kelly:
I'll arrange it. But I doubt Sam will regain consciousness. I'm
so sorry. If it helps at all, she's not in any pain.
Alexis:
No, that doesn't help at all. What would help is if you make her
better. Give her a transfusion if that's what it takes. If it's
-- if it's an operation, you do that. Keeping her alive is what
I need you to do.
Alexis:
This isn't -- this is not the way it was supposed to happen!
