"I've Taken the Position of Assistant District Attorney
and I Start Immediately"

Alexis: This is Alexis Davis. I'd like to speak to John Durant, please.

John: Go ahead.

Alexis: I've given careful consideration to your offer and I've decided to take the position of A.D.A.

John: Oh -- oh, I'm glad to hear that. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I want you anymore.

John: My offer's been on the table for months, you repeatedly turned me down. Why the sudden change of heart?

Alexis: What is "all of a sudden" to you, Durant? Because I took time to deliberate? Because I took time to analyze the pros and cons?

John: You're right, it's an important job.

Alexis: Exactly. So if you have a problem with my not jumping right in, then find somebody else. I've got plenty of things --

John: How can I be sure that you're going to give my department and me 100%?

Alexis: You know I always do, which is why you want me there in the first place.

John: Well, what if you're putting yourself in a position to protect your husband and his family?

Alexis: A, my husband and I enjoy a good debate. B, you told me I'd never be in that position in the first place.

John: Oh, yeah. What position would you like to be in? Don't answer that. You've got the job.

Alexis: When do I start?

John: Sweetheart, you've already started. They're putting your name on the door as we speak.

[John pats Alexis' arm]

Sam: It was a wonderful party. Thanks for inviting me.

Michael: Ooh, can you do me a favor and give this piece of cake to Jason?

Sam: Yes, I will.

Michael: And tell him that we missed him.

Sam: Ok.

Michael: Thank you.

Sam: You're welcome. Watch out. Happy birthday, Sonny.

Sonny: Thanks, Sam.

Ric: Hey.

Alexis: Hi.

Ric: How are you?

Alexis: How are you, babe? Hey, you! Hi! You have a good time? Looks like you guys had a good time.

Ric: Yeah.

Alexis: Happy birthday to you. It also looks like everybody is leaving. We don't want to overstay our welcome. Are you ready to go?

Kristina: I don't want to leave.

Alexis: You don't?

Ric: Oh.

Alexis: Uh-oh.

Carly: Hey, about I give you a big piece of cake to take home with you and a bag of candy? That's going to make it easier, right?

Ric: That'll do it, huh?

Alexis: Hey. Listen, I want to tell you something before you find it out from somebody else.

Ric: Is this -- is this really the best time?

Alexis: There is no good time; they're going to announce it this afternoon.

Ric: Ok.

Alexis: I've taken the position of Assistant District Attorney and I start immediately.

Carly: You're going to be working with my dad. Wow. I can't think of two people more perfect for each other. Here you go, sweetie-pie.

Morgan: No.

Carly: Hey, Leticia, can you help me with the kids getting their coats together and stuff?

Leticia: Come on.

Carly: We got to go, party's over.

Ric: Yeah, throw them in.

Carly: Does the term "party pooper" mean anything to you?

Leticia: Hey, Morgan?

Carly: Come on, I'll help you with it.

Sonny: Is there a particular reason you agreed to work with Durant? I don't know, I think it might complicate things. What do you think?

Alexis: No, it doesn’t. It's a very good career opportunity for me, and since you are no longer involved in criminal activity -- I understand you've retired -- I expect to see very little of you.

Ric: Couldn't wait to tell Sonny?

Alexis: I didn't have a better time to tell him. He's going to find out anyway. You should be very afraid.

Ric: Oh, you and John Durant? Well, I'll try not to humiliate you in court.

Alexis: Ok, and I'll try to be gentle when I move in for the kill.

Ric: Yeah. I'm sure you've considered the ramifications of this decision.

Alexis: You know, there is no way to anticipate each and every possible reaction to this.

Ric: I don't think we have to anticipate any kind of reaction to this, Alexis. We've discussed it.

Alexis: You don't have to work for him if it doesn't feel right to do it. There's no work anyway because Jason has taken over.

Ric: I'm not so sure it's that settled yet.

Kristina: Happy birthday.

Sonny: Hey. Thank you. This -- it's from Carly, so I'm going to open it later.

Emily: I think Kristina really wants you to open it.

Sonny: Ok.

Ric: Everybody's gone.

Sonny: You didn't seem that surprised by what Alexis said.

Ric: Ah, Durant’s been after her for a long time; she kept turning him down.

Sonny: What changed her mind?

Ric: She likes the idea of going up against me in court.

Sonny: That doesn't bother you?

Ric: Not at all. I don't have to tell you that Alexis is one hell of an attorney. From Carly? Well, it's subtle.

Sonny: Carly's loyal to Jason, always has been.

Ric: Even though the two of you were married for years? You have two kids.

Sonny: Well, Jason was her first. Then I got into the picture, did something that I shouldn't have. But that was a long time ago.

Ric: Maybe he's never gotten over it.

Sonny: That's not what this is about, Ric. I thought we're -- I thought we were a family.

Ric: Hmm. Well, you were, you know?

Sonny: Mm-hmm.

Ric: That's one thing he can't take away from you.

Sonny: You see, what this picture's all about -- let me tell you what this picture's all about. Carly thinks that I have nothing without her and Jason. So she sends me this picture to throw it in my face. She's wrong.
