"You
Decide -- Her or Me?"
Ric:
Hey.
Alexis:
Oh. Hi!
Ric:
I just got a minute.
Alexis:
Hi, hi, hi. All right.
Ric:
I got to meet judge sheppard in his chambers in about an hour. What
do you want to show me?
Alexis:
Our new office.
Ric:
Our new what?
Alexis:
Jax just had a place that opened up in the Metro Court and he's
renting it out, and I think it's a perfect place for our new law
firm -- "Davis and Lansing."
Carly:
Not in this lifetime.
Jason:
What are you hiding?
Sam:
Ok, I'm being silly.
Jason:
The file on Alexis.
Sam:
I thought I was over it. I want to be. But there's still so much
-- so much I need to know, Jason.
Jason:
You want to tell Alexis that you're her daughter.
Sam:
I know how you feel about Alexis.
Jason:
What I feel shouldn't matter. This is about you.
Sam:
Look, I can't stand her, either. And if I tell Alexis that she's
my mother, she will just have a cause and she will make it her mission
to make me understand, and I don't want to hear a bunch of empty
apologies. I just want some answers about my life.
Jason:
Then you do whatever you need to do.
Sam:
It would be best for everyone if Alexis never knew she was my mother,
but, Jason, I can't help it. I can't. I just -- a part of me actually
wants to know about her life, too.
Jason:
You want to know why she gave you up.
Sam:
It would help. But, Jason, I don't want to find any reasons to like
her.
Carly:
Let me make this real clear. There's not a chance in hell that you
and your lying weasel of a husband here is going to set up business
in my hotel.
Alexis:
It's Jax's hotel.
Carly:
I own half, and I say no.
Ric:
Ok, Carly, is this really necessary? Do you have to make it personal?
Carly:
I take it personally when I'm kidnapped and chained to a wall.
Ric:
Right.
Carly:
I also take it personally when Alexis, the queen of hypocrites here,
tells me that I can't spend any time with her precious little girl.
You two have done nothing but antagonize me, and I'm not going to
smile and pretend like it didn't happen. I despise you both, I don't
want you as tenants --
Ric:
Hmm.
Carly:
So get lost.
Ric:
Ok --
Carly:
Or I'll take great pleasure in asking the doorman to throw you out.
Ric:
Enough. It's a big hotel, ok? We can all peacefully coexist here.
Carly:
The question is, why would your wife want to? Aren't you afraid
that my reputation's going to give your law firm a bad name?
Alexis:
It's New York, Carly. We'll sacrifice a lot for a little square
footage.
Ric:
Nice.
Alexis:
Yeah.
Carly:
Well, are you really going to stand there and look down on me? Give
it up, Alexis, because you have done your share of awful things,
and the whole town knows about it. I'm sure you have a whole bunch
of skeletons still in your closet. Wow, Counselor. Did I just hit
a nerve?
Kristina:
Grandpa Mike!
Mike:
Hi, kiddo!
Sam:
Hey, Kristina. How was your tea party?
Kristina:
Molly's no fun. It would be better if you were my sister.
Sam:
Where's your mom at?
Viola:
Alexis has a business meeting with Ric at the Metro Court. They'll
be by later to pick up the girls.
Mike:
Hey, sweetheart, what would you like? Peanut butter cookies or double-chocolate
brownies?
Kristina:
Both!
Mike:
Both? All right, come on. Let's get some.
Jax:
Hey.
Alexis:
Hi.
Jax:
Got your message. I understand that you want to rent space from
me.
Alexis:
We do. Ric and I want to start a law firm. Davis, Lansing -- Lansing,
Davis -- however it works out, but we need a suite.
Jax:
Well, I'm never one to turn down money. I could use a tenant, I
don't foresee a problem.
Alexis:
There is one.
Jax:
Oh?
Carly:
I should've known that you would drag Jax into this.
Alexis:
For some reason beyond my comprehension, you have chosen to befriend
Carly. I don't like her, but I really like you and I really want
this suite, and she said that I can't have it, so you have to pick.
Jax:
Pick what?
Alexis:
We seem to be at an impasse. You decide -- her or me?
Carly:
Ok. Choose.
Carly:
The day's come. You have to choose between your friend and former
wife whom you never consummated the marriage -- but there's no surprise
there -- and me, the woman you've been endlessly warned about. Seems
like a really simple decision. You and Alexis go way back, you guys
are all warm and fuzzy, and -- well, you and I share this uncomplicated
attachment confined to various rooms and surfaces of this hotel.
Alexis:
Ew, ew, ew! For the love of God, tell me that what Nikolas saw was
a hallucination. Please? Tell me that you don't have an ongoing
affair with this woman.
Ric:
Yeah, I filed for a contingency -- oh -- sorry.
Alexis:
Adjusting to fatherhood in the best of circumstances is difficult,
and to have to do it while you're mourning for the woman you love
is -- is incomprehensible to me. Your life has been turned upside
down and I understand how you would want to reach out for comfort.
It's unfortunate that the nearest warm body was that of a vulture
we both know that she's a bone-picking opportunist --
Jax:
Alexis, Alexis --
Alexis:
Huh?
Jax:
I appreciate your concern, I do.
Alexis:
Thank you.
Jax:
But I don't think you renting an office is a good idea at this time.
Ric:
Here, let me --
Sam:
No, thank you.
Ric:
Ok.
Alexis:
I can't believe you'd choose sex over friendship. I knew I should've
slept with you.
Jax:
I'm just doing what's best for everyone involved, ok? I can't spend
my days refereeing you and Carly every time you run into each other
in the lobby. It's bad for business -- for you and me, ok? That's
why I'm suggesting that you find another place to open your firm.
Ric:
Well. I see everything changed a lot while I was gone.
Alexis:
I'm going home to the girls. I want to be around people who like
me.
Ric:
Hey -- I like you.
Alexis:
Thanks.
Carly:
You're mad.
Jax:
Pretty much. You know why?
Carly:
Yeah.
Jax:
I don't appreciate being put in that position. I don't like being
backed into a corner by anyone. I mean, it would be better for you
to just ask instead of forcing me to choose.
Carly:
I'm sorry.
Sam:
Ok.
[Phone
rings]
Sam:
Hello?
Mike:
Hey, Sam, it's Mike. Listen, you left one of your books on the counter
in here earlier.
Sam:
Oh -- oh, gosh. Thank you. I'm going to come right over and get
it. Thanks, Mike.
Sam:
Hey.
Mike:
Hey, Sam. You looking for this?
Sam:
Thank you so much, Mike.
Mike:
Yeah, "fundamentals of science." I can't say that that's
on top of my must-read list.
Sam:
You know what? It's not really on the top of mine, either, but I'm
getting my G.E.D. Emily was supposed to meet me here so I could
study for the science portion.
Mike:
Hey, that's great, Sam. Look, I'm sure you'll do fine on that test.
Sam:
Well, I -- I hope so, because I'm not going to get into law school
if I don'T.
Alexis:
There are the girls. Hi, munchkin.
Mike:
So, what -- what inspired you to make this sudden career change?
Sam:
I have something to prove.
[Knock
on door]
Carly:
Jason?
Hello?
Can't get mad at me this time -- the door was open. Sam? Ok, that's
weird. I'll leave them a note. Wherever that was.
Carly:
What --
Carly
discovers the file stating that Alexis is Sam's mother.
Carly:
What in the world -- oh, my god.
