"Do We Have to Worry about Manny Hurting the Children?"

Sam: I'm not in the mood, Ric.

Ric: Well, Jason didn't want to hear it, either, Sam. But Kristina's in danger. And you saved her once before. You can do it again.

Sam: Where is this coming from?

Ric: Manny was talking to Kristina outside of Kelly's this afternoon. Now, I told this to Jason, but he seems to be more concerned with being angry at Alexis and myself than he is in keeping Kristina safe, so I thought that --

Sam: Now, why the hell should I clean up Alexis' mess, after everything she's done to destroy my life?

Sam: You tried to kill Manny yourself. He survived and caused a train wreck, which almost killed your wife and your unborn child. And then you and Alexis went to court and got him set free. Now that he's back on the streets again, you're back to wanting him dead.

Ric: The irony hasn't escaped me, believe me. The point is, what do we do now?

Sam: What exactly has Manny done?

Ric: I told you before, he was talking to Kristina.

Sam: Talking? Threatening her? Hurting her? What?

Ric: No, it's just a feeling I got, Sam.

Sam: Oh, really? Like the feeling I had in the holding room when Manny ripped my blouse off and threatened to rape me?

Ric: I cannot change the verdict, all right? I just don't want the man around my children.

Sam: I never wanted him around, period. But you and Alexis twisted what I did in court and got it turned against me and got Manny set free with a slap on the wrist.

Ric: You still want him gone. Jason can make that happen.

Sam: No, Jason will do what he wants, when he wants.

Ric: Sam, Kristina is Sonny's daughter. If Jason can grasp the fact that she is in danger, then maybe --

Sam: If you are so worried, why don't you finish the job you started and kill Manny yourself? I am sure that your wife will get you acquitted. And if you want to protect your children, pack them up with your hypocritical wife and get out of town. I would be happy to help you with that.

Alexis: Oh. Are you working for a travel agent now?

Sam: Good timing. We have a legal problem and we need a professional opinion.

Alexis: "We"?

Sam: Yes. Manny has been sniffing around Kristina.

Alexis: What happened?

Ric: He was outside of Kelly's this afternoon. Kristina dropped her doll, he picked it up, and he was talking to her.

Alexis: All right, well, we can't allow that to happen.

Sam: Allow what, exactly? Let's look at the facts here. You like facts, don't you? I mean, from a legal standpoint anyway. Has Manny broken any laws?

Alexis: I don't know, Sam. What did he do? What happened?

Ric: He was chatting. He was being friendly.

Alexis: Was she scared?

Ric: Well, understandably so, Alexis. She was wary. I mean, he's a complete stranger.

Sam: Why don't you just answer the question -- has Manny broken any laws?

Alexis: What is your point?

Sam: The rule of law is the only point. Isn't that what you believe? What has Manny done? He hasn't threatened, assaulted anyone. He was just there, and as a good mother -- and we all know what a great mother you are --

Alexis: Oh --

Ric: Don't, don't.

Sam: Of course you wouldn't want your child around a murdering freak. But since you put the law above everything else -- even the safety of your own children -- you will not presume guilt without proof. After all, you did successfully defend Manny in court, correct?

Alexis: Why don't you just tell me how this all started?

Sam: When your husband asked me to ask Jason to kill Manny.

Alexis: Huh?

Sam: "Huh?" Yes. There are all kinds of justice, Alexis. I sure hope -- thank you -- you get what you deserve, both of you.

Ric: It was my first instinct to go to Jason.

Alexis: A, do we have to worry about Manny hurting the children? B, how do we stop him?

Ric: We don't.

Sam: Ok, you want to tell Sonny that Alexis is my mother?

Jason: I think he deserves to know.

Sam: I guess you're right.

Jason: Ok. What about you? Are you -- are you going to tell Alexis?

Sam: I don't want to. But it's all I can do not to because I keep getting pushed to this brink where I just want to blurt it out. And the main reason is to hurt her the way she's hurt me. But the truth is, Jason, it wouldn't really hurt her at all --

Jason: I don't know --

Sam: Because I don't think she'd really care.

Jason: I'm not so sure about that.

Sam: And -- come on. She won't even care. She will blame everyone else, pull up excuses, and I don't want to hear any of that.

Jason: So are you just going to let it go?

Sam: I have to. But the question is how, when Alexis is always around?

Ric: Manny needs to be watched.

Alexis: Is that all? Listen, you can't make a move on him right now, because if it involves Sonny and you put Kristina right in the middle.

Ric: Well, she's already there, Alexis. Otherwise, Manny wouldn't have taken the time to notice her.

Alexis: What was he talking to her about?

Ric: You.

Alexis: Me?

Ric: Yeah. He said to Kristina how he owed his life to you and how the next time she sees you that she should say hi to you for him. I got a really bad feeling about it and I think he knew it.

Alexis: Well, if Jason tries something and he fails, the next time that he approaches Kristina, we're really going to have something to worry about.

Manny: Miss Davis. Hey, it's good to see you.

Alexis: Hi, Manny.

Ric: Hi, Manny.

Alexis: How are you?

Ric: Just talking about you, about how friendly you were to Kristina.

Manny: Oh, yeah. She's a lovely girl. You must be really proud. See you.

Alexis: Bye. Just ignore him.

Ric: Huh.

Alexis: Just ignore him and let's hope that Jason does the same thing, because the last thing we need to do right now is provoke Manny.

Jason: I -- I really need to see Sonny about some stuff, but I don't -- I don't want to leave you alone.

Sam: I promise you I will not hunt Alexis down with a machete, ok?

Jason: No, I'm not talking -- I'm talking about Manny. He's out there, too.

Sam: I know. Look, I feel perfectly safe here, ok? You've got guards outside and in the lobby. I'm just going to sit here and study. It's going to take a lot of hard work from going high school dropout to practicing attorney.

Jason: Ok, whatever -- whatever you do --

Sam: Do it for myself --

Jason: Just -- yeah.

Sam: And not for Alexis. Sonny's going to freak when he finds out Alexis is my mother.

Jason: Yeah. We have a lot we need to get settled.

[Knock on door]

Alexis: I'm here to apologize. Ric overreacted. It was very hypocritical of him to condone anything unfortunate happening to Manny.

Sam: Got it -- you're scared. Bye.

Alexis: Sam, something else we need to address and I think that we should do just that. I know that you blame me for what happed to your brother and I know that you blame me for what happened to your baby.

Sam: Oh, I don't really think you want to get into this right now, Alexis.

Alexis: And I realize that you and I are never going to be friends. However, we do live in the same town, we are going to run into each other from time to time, and I'm hoping that we might manage to be civil in public.

Sam: What do you want from me, Alexis?

Alexis: Peace. Law school, huh?

Sam: It's just a thought.

Alexis: I think it's a great idea. It's a lofty goal. It's very ambitious of you. I can tell you it's an arduous process.

Sam: Oh, what, are you suggesting that I'm not smart enough?

Alexis: No -- I --

Sam: Well, I -- I would just like you to know that it's actually in my genes. My mother happened to a brilliant woman, not to mention a selfish, patronizing bitch.
