"I
Want You to Kill Manny"
Jason:
Yeah. Well, you know what? That's fine. Just tell Sonny to call
me as soon as he shows up.
Sam:
Hey, there's a fresh pot of coffee if you want.
Jason:
What are you -- what are you into there?
Sam:
I'm getting info on my G.E.D. Test.
Jason:
What -- what for?
Sam:
"Who" for. Me. I never got my diploma.
Jason:
I didn't know it was important to you, but that's great. Why --
why now?
Sam:
Well, you can't go to college if you don't have a diploma, and you
can't go to law school if you don't go to college.
Jason:
Huh.
Sam:
So --
Jason:
Why would you want to go to law school?
Sam:
Why do you think, silly? To be a lawyer.
Sam:
Look, I know what you're thinking. I find out that Alexis is my
mother, and I think I have something to prove, but I swear to you,
Jason -- I swear, this has nothing to do with Alexis. This is not
some crazy fantasy to be actly like her.
Jason:
That's a huge relief.
Sam:
I just -- I need to do something with my life. And I thought --
salvage operator? Or lawyer?
Jason:
I -- I think it's great that you have goals, even though it could
take years to get there, but a lawyer?
Sam:
Why? I promise you -- I promise, this has nothing to do with Alexis.
I made this connection way before I made the whole Alexis-was-my-mother
thing. And actually, when I found out, you know what? Yeah, I wanted
to do it bigger and better. And it really hit me when I was sitting
in court and Alexis was defending Manny and twisting the law in
his favor. And -- and I thought to myself, "I don't know how
to fight back," and I felt helpless. And you know how I hate
that. And then it hit me. The only thing that Alexis has that I
don't is a law degree. And it's her weapon. And I still want to
get married and have babies. I want that more than anything. But
I want to do something with my mind that has meaning. I want to
make you proud. I want to make danny proud.
Jason:
Look, I -- Sam, I believe in you you know that. And I will support
you as long as becoming a lawyer is for you and not for revenge.
Manny:
Hey. Hey. Hey. Is this your dolly, sweetness? Hey, she's pretty.
You know, you have to be more careful, because you don't want --
you don't want to hurt her.
Ric:
Ok, sweetheart, come on. We got to get inside now.
Manny:
The little girl and I -- you know, we're just getting to be friends.
Hey, I bet you didn't know that your mama -- she's my hero. She
and your stepfather here saved me from going to jail.
Ric:
Yeah, well, all in a day's work, sweetheart.
Manny:
Hey, Ric, she's an angel. A little angel.
Ric:
Listen, the minute the verdict was handed down, our relationship
ended. We officially have nothing to say to each other.
Manny:
Hey, angel, when you see your mama, tell her that Manny said hi.
See you later.
Ric:
Ok. Let's go.
Manny:
Bye, princess.
Sam:
This has absolutely nothing to do with Alexis. I need to do this
for myself.
Jason:
I would just hate to see you waste your time and a high-level education
on Alexis davis, that's all.
Sam:
You don't actually think I'll get through law school.
Jason:
I think that you're smart enough. It's the attention span I'm worried
about.
Sam:
Really? Well, you know what? I'm -- I'm different. I'm a lot more
disciplined now, and I know what I want.
Jason:
Really?
Sam:
Mm-hmm.
Jaso
you don't think you're going to get bored?
Sam:
Well, I will make it interesting. You know? Think julia roberts
in "erin brockovich."
Jason:
Who's that?
Sam:
Come on, Jason. Think about it. I can be your attorney. I can bail
you out. I can defend you in court. Sonny can put me on payroll.
Come on, is any of this --
Jason:
Hold on, hold on. I think we should keep our personal lives separate
from our professional lives.
Sam:
Really? Well, looks like I'm going to have to prove you wrong.
Jason:
No, I'm -- I'm just saying --
Sam:
You're humoring me.
Jason:
No. I think you can do anything you put your mind to. You're very
smart. You talk a whole lot, which is very useful in a courtroom.
I think you could make a great lawyer.
Sam:
I got to go, because there are some materials I'm going to need
for my G.E.D.
Jason:
Can't you order them online?
Sam:
I could, but I don't want to wait for the mail. What?
Jason:
It's just nice to see you excited about something.
Sam:
Really?
Jason:
Mm-hmm.
Sam:
Well, you know, the sooner I go to colge, the sooner I can become
a lawyer, and the sooner I can stick it to you know --
Jason:
Glad you're not making it about Alexis.
Sam:
This has nothing to do with Alexis.
Jason:
Hmm.
Sam:
I swear. It doesn't.
Jason:
All right.
Ric:
Sam -- ahem --
Sam:
Ric. Ok.
Jason:
What do you want?
Ric:
Manny got dangerously close to Kristina today. I couldn't contact
Sonny, so I figured you should know.
Jason:
And how did you let that happen, Ric?
Ric:
Can we please try not to hate each other for five minutes?
Jason:
Just try telling me what you want.
Ric:
I want you to kill Manny.
Jason:
You and Alexis got Manny released, you don't like how he's acting.
You deal with it.
Ric:
Look, you want me to admit that I was wrong? I admit that the system
failed, and now a dangerous man is out on the street. He approached
my stepdaughter, Sonny's daughter. Call me crazy -- I would have
thought that you would want to try to keep her safe, Jason.
Jason:
Does Alexis even know you're doing this?
Ric:
No, she doesn't, because if she did, she would be terrified.
Jason:
Oh, then she would think Manny's this big threat, right?
Ric:
Why are you balking on this? You nted him deaeafofor a long time,
so get it done, for Kristina's sake!
Jason:
Once I've killed Manny for you, you will always have something on
me.
Ric:
Jason, you kill Manny, and I will never come after you again.
