"You Stop the Subterfuge and You Ask"

Ric: What happened? What the hell is going on?

Sonny: Whatever it is, it's over.

Ric: Get a doctor, call 911.

Alexis: Help is on the way. Can you tell me who shot you? Who shot you, Manny?

Manny points at Jason (but it was Sam).

Alexis: Jason shot you? Is that what you're trying to say? We need help here.

Emily: All right. Oh, god, he's losing a lot of blood.

Ric: The ambulance is on its way.

Alexis: Can you keep him alive till they get here?

Emily: Yeah.

Alexis: Is that the only way you know how to win?

Carly: Stop it, Alexis. It wasn't Jason and you know it.

Emily: Hey, we've got a G.S.W. To the neck. He's going to need surgery.

Paramedic: All right, we'll call ahead.

Emily: Ric, can you get his feet and put him towards here?

Ric: Feet together. On the count of three, guys. Here we go. Ready?

Emily: One --

Ric: One, two, three --

John: What happened?

Alexis: Manny I.D.'D Jason as the shooter --

Sonny: Manny never said a word.

Carly: Jason couldn't have done it.

John: And why is that, Carly?

Sonny: Because we -- he was with me when we heard the shot!

John: Arrest morgan, take him down to the station.

Det. Rodriguez: You want me to process him?

John: No, test him for gunpowder residue.

Carly: Jason is innocent.

John: Well, Carly, I'd like to help you prove that. If the evidence supports it, then he's free to go.

Sonny: Do you really want to do this, durant?

Jason: Sonny, Sonny, it's ok.

Sonny: What do you mean?

Jason: I got it.

Det. Rodriguez: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney.

Carly: You know why Jason's covering. He's protecting Sam.

John: It's the only way to get Morgan to talk.

Det. Rodriguez: It's being handled.

Carly: Hey, I'm going to try and get my dad to get you out of here, ok?

Jason: Carly, just stay out of this, ok?

Sonny: Ok, I left a message for Justus.

Alexis: Where's Sam? Has anyone tracked her down?

Jason: Sonny, get Ric to talk Alexis down, whatever it takes. She's got to back off Sam.

Sonny: All right.

Alexis: What are you going to do about Sam?

John: I got it handled.

Alexis: She was out of control in that courtroom. There's witnesses that heard her threaten --

John: Counselor -- Counselor, this is why you're never going to beat me, because I'm always one step ahead of you.

Sonny: Can I have a word with you?

Ric: Yeah, thanks.

Sonny: It's been a hell of a day.

Ric: Yeah. I hope it doesn't get any worse. I hope our client doesn't die. Boy, that would mess things up, wouldn't it?

Sonny: Can I ask you a favor, brother to brother?

[Ric sighs]

Ric: Yeah, of course. Why not?

Sonny: It's pretty clear how badly Alexis wants to win. That's fine, whatever. But just get her to back off Sam, will you?

Ric: Ok, Sonny, can't you see that Sam is the one who has a personal stake in all this? She's a loose cannon. She's standing up in the middle of a courtroom yelling things out. The judge has got to -- got to extract her from the courtroom. I don't know what went on in that holding room between her and Manny, but she buried herself by being there personally.

Sonny: I will deal with Sam! You just talk some sense into your wife.

Ric: Alexis is trying to defend her client, Sonny!

Sonny: It's pretty clear how bad she wants to win. She wants to defend her lofty legal principles.

Ric: Oh --

Sonny: But what I'm saying to you, Ric, if she keeps pushing, she will regret it.

John: I believe that Sonny and Jason planned the hit. Sam McCall is a bargaining chip to get Jason to talk.

Carly: I need to talk to you. Jason is innocent.

John: Carly, you know, you ought to have those two words tattooed on your --

Carly: No, don't. You're only going after Jason to get to Sonny and you know it.

John: Carly, you just got out of a mental hospital. Shouldn't you -- shouldn't you be taking care of yourself instead of looking after Jason?

Carly: Don't act like you care about me being in a mental hospital because you came to see me two days. Thanks a lot.

John: Hey, whoa, don't -- don't you play that guilt card with me. I tried to see you, but I was on some sort of list -- "access denied."

Carly: Maybe that's because I can't take the stress of you constantly trying to destroy my best friend.

John: Carly -- Carly --

Carly: You know he's my best --

John: I know that you're upset, ok? I'm sorry, so here's how it's going to play out. I'm going to gather up all the evidence, I'm going to test Jason for gunpowder residue, I'm going to talk to his girlfriend, and if he's cleared, you get to say "na-na-na-na-na-na, I told you so." It'll be a happy day.

Jason: I told you to leave it alone.

Carly: I am not going to leave it alone.

Jason: I want you to give it up.

Carly: You think Sam shot Manny, and you --

Jason: Don't say anything else about Sam.

Officer: We got her as she was getting out of the shower.

John: Washing off gunpowder residue, no doubt. What do you know, Counselor, you may be right. This girl could be our shooter.

Sam: They broke into my home. They had to drag me out of my shower naked, all because of your obsession with Manny.

Alexis: Sam, your hatred of my client is justified. I understand that. But it doesn't entitle you to murder my client.

Sam: Mur-- what? Please tell me that Manny is dead.

Jason: Get away from her, Alexis.

Jason: You've crossed the line again, Alexis. You're not defending Manny, you're persecuting Sam.

Alexis: If Sam shot Manny, that's attempted murder.

Carly: Then why aren't you at the hospital? Court's recessed for the day, and your client is fighting for his life, but you're here trying to tell the D.A. What to do. And why are you letting Alexis call the shots? Whose show is this?

Alexis: I think we're both interested in justice.

John: I'll let you know how it turns out, Alexis. In the meantime, you're only getting in the way.

Alexis: I'll be at the courthouse. You call me if anything changes.

John: Put ms. McCall in interrogation.

Jason: It's going to be ok.

Carly: Jason --

Jason: Ok, Carly, I've got it covered. All right? I'm going to take it from here.

Sonny: Hector Ruiz tried to save Manny, too. But the son turned against his father, shot him dead. You think he's not going to do the same to his lawyer once Alexis sets him free?

Ric: Sonny, listen to me. Even a criminal like Manny Ruiz deserves a defense, ok? I know it's an unpopular position, but it is a matter of principle.

Sonny: Well, you know what? There's a chance that Alexis' principles are going to be going down the tubes because of Manny. If she stays alive, she's lucky, Ric.

Ric: Oh, come on. What, are you going to start threatening now?

Sonny: I'm not threatening her! I'm just saying -- you're the husband, you need to keep her principles at hand, right? You need to protect her from herself!

Alexis: You arrogant -- are you kidding me? You're trying to manipulate my husband? You want something from me? You stop the subterfuge and you ask.

Alexis: You were asking Ric to get me to throw this case? That is really, really unbelievable. What, did he use the brother card? Did he question your loyalty?

Ric: We shouldn't even be in here talking. The judge would frown upon it.

Alexis: You actually asked my husband to do it for you?

Sonny: No, I asked your husband to save you from your out-of control ego. All you care about is winning, even if it means Manny Ruiz gets set free to go after the people that we love. Now, look, you know what? He's not above coming after my kids to get to me. You say I'm the one that's a danger? You set this animal free, you will be putting Kristina's life at risk. You!

Alexis: Doing my job doesn't make me a bad mother. And don't go pointing the finger at me, my friend. You want to talk about failed parenting? We can have a really nice conversation about that right now. You want to talk about how you treat the children like they're trophies?

Emily: Stop it, Alexis!

Emily: Do you ever get tired of attacking Sonny?

Ric: Ok, let's just take a step back here, Emily.

Emily: No, I've seen Sonny with his children, Ric. He's devoted to them, Alexis, including his daughter. Their safety is all he cares about.

Sonny: Emily, you don't have to do this.

Emily: No, I'm sick of people commenting on subjects they know nothing about. He's a good man, Alexis. He's trying to protect his family. So stop making this personal and try listening to him for a change.

Alexis: You're very passionate with your defense of Sonny. When did you seduce Emily?
