"An
Impromptu Celebration"
Ric:
You're putting all of your eggs in one basket, Alexis.
Alexis:
Manny's acquittal hangs on this medical evidence. Robin and Patrick
need to testify to the jury that Manny's literally a changed man.
Robin:
Patrick? You and I need to get a few things straight.
Robin:
You like to be the rebel. Speaking on behalf of Manny Ruiz would
be the ultimate in-your-face gesture. Why don't you go in there
and admit that the guy actually deserves a second chance? Take a
stand on something for once. It feels good. You should try it.
Patrick:
So I do stir up some passion in you.
Alexis:
Dr. Drake, we're ready for you now.
Ric:
Thank you for your cooperation, Dr. Drake. We'll contact you if
we need you for anything further. Dr. Scorpio, we can take you right
away.
Robin:
Mm-hmm.
Alexis:
Hi, Robin.
Robin:
Hi.
Alexis:
Thanks for giving us your time here. You're familiar with my client,
Manny Ruiz.
Robin:
Yes. I recently observed on his surgery.
Alexis:
Did you consider his surgery a success?
Robin:
Oh, very much so. It is my belief that Manny Ruiz is not inherently
a violent man. His aggressive behavior was caused by an A.V. malformation
on his brain that was diminishing the blood flow to his frontal
lobe. After the medical problem was corrected, the behavioral problem
was eradicated.
Alexis:
And that's the gist of what you said in the written report?
Robin:
Yes. That is my professional opinion.
Alexis:
Excellent. Now, this surgery -- have you ever seen -- all right,
let's move on. How familiar are you with Jason Morgan?
Robin:
I don't understand the relevance of that question.
Alexis:
I'll ask it another way. How well do you know Jason Morgan?
Robin:
Jason Quartermaine then is extremely different than the Jason Morgan
today.
Alexis:
How so?
Robin:
Jason Quartermaine was warm, outgoing, generous. He was a good friend
and a good man.
Alexis:
Is that all? Were you and Jason Quartermaine more than friends?
Robin:
Well, I -- I mean, I had a crush on him. What girl wouldn't?
Alexis:
You had more than a crush on Jason Morgan, didn't you?
Robin:
Well --
Alexis:
How would you characterize the difference between Jason Morgan and
Jason Quartermaine?
Robin:
Night and day.
Alexis:
I've heard some refer to him as cold.
Robin:
They're wrong.
Alexis:
Unfeeling?
Robin:
People that say that don't know Jason. He doesn't let a lot of people
in. He doesn't trust them.
Alexis:
Does he trust you?
Robin:
He did, very much.
Alexis:
Despite the fact that he was no longer warm and giving and generous,
you said?
Robin:
Well, Jason -- I mean, he has a difficult time expressing emotional
highs and lows, but that doesn't mean that in his heart he's still
not a good person.
Ric:
But you do agree that a person can profoundly change due to extraordinary
circumstances like Jason, and more importantly, Manny Ruiz were
subjected to?
Robin:
Of course, that's what I was saying.
Ric:
Ok, thank you very much, doctor. That's all we need unless Alexis
has any more questions.
Alexis:
No. I think -- I think that's good. Thank you, Robin. I appreciate
you coming in.
Alexis:
Thank you.
Man:
Thank you.
Ric:
What's this?
Alexis:
I love the Gold Star Grille.
Ric:
Uh-huh.
Alexis:
You love the Gold Star Grille. It's one of your favorite meals that
I never make you.
Ric:
You don't make that?
Alexis:
Uh-uh. Isn't it romantic?
Ric:
I would have taken you out to dinner, you know, right after Jason
didn't show up for his deposition. And being romantic in the hospital
conference room, really?
Alexis:
This is so nice, you and I working together, seeing eye to eye.
I think it's very romantic, and I think it's cause for an
impromptu celebration.
Ric:
What happened? Impromptu?
Alexis:
Mm-hmm.
Ric:
Looks like a setup to me.

Ric:
Mmm.
Alexis:
Guess.
Ric:
It's some kind of poultry.
Alexis:
Hmm.
Ric:
Duck?
Alexis:
With --
Ric:
Ooh, Szechwan sauce?
Alexis:
And?
Ric:
Wild mushrooms.
Alexis:
Ooh.
Ric:
You like that? Mmm. That's very sensual.
Alexis:
You're good at this.
Ric:
Yeah, I know. This is very, very sensual, you know.
Alexis:
Mm-hmm.
Ric:
Because, you know, appealing to the senses, like taste and touch.
Can I have some more?
Alexis:
Hmm. Which?
Ric:
You. You realize if anybody walks in here --
Alexis:
Hmm?
Ric:
Whatever's left of my shoddy legal career is going down the toilet.
Alexis:
Hmm, that's why they have locked doors.
Ric:
Oh, very good. Oh -- you know what? Seeing as how Jasons definitely
not going to show up for his -- his deposition, I say we move on
to dessert.
Alexis:
Hmm. Ooh, I love a man with a contingency plan.
Ric:
You know, the only thing is, sweetheart --
Alexis:
Hmm?
Ric:
I want to ask you something.
Alexis:
What?
Ric:
What are you up to?
Alexis:
I just want you to know how much I have loved working with you.
Ric:
Past tense?
Alexis:
I'm not going to be needing your help from this point on, because
I have discovered a precedent that is a slam dunk -- whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
Ric:
Have you?
Alexis:
You know, Randall vs. The State of Rhode Island?
Ric:
Oh, right. Organized crimes.
Alexis:
John Randall --
Ric:
Yeah, yeah, John Randall, organized crime. He's a mob boss just
like Manny Ruiz is.
Alexis:
How do you know that? There is no way that you can know that, unless
you looked in my P.D.A.
Ric:
Oh, there are similarities between that and the Ruiz case. And besides,
it flies in the face of the precedent -- I think it was Laver versus
Newcombe.
Alexis:
I know Laver versus Newcombe. I told you, I read up on all those
decisions. I'm very well aware of Laver versus Newcombe.
Ric:
Excuse me, I didn't realize that you were so up on all these precedents.
But my question is to you --
Alexis:
Hmm?
Ric:
Sweetie --
Alexis:
Yes?
Ric:
How could you possibly know about Laver versus Newcombe --?
Alexis:
Hmm.
Ric:
Rod Laver --
Alexis:
Hmm?
Ric:
And John Newcombe.
Alexis:
Yes?
Ric:
Were in the men's --
Alexis:
Mm-hmm?
Ric:
Final at Wimbledon in 1969? And it was a classic. I'm over here,
babe. Over here. Almost. Come here, come on, right here. Right here,
come on, all the way. All right.
