"Gunshots
Down on the First Level"
Jason:
You and Reese ought to work on that story. It doesn't add up.
Ric:
It happened exactly the way I said, Jason.
Jason:
Ok. So you're telling me Reeses ex-con, ex-husband comes to
Port Charles, demands money, ends up dead --
Ric:
Yeah.
Jason:
With you and Reese standing over his body?
Ric:
I shot him in self-defense, unlike you.
Jason:
Then why did you insist that Sonny had to leave --
Ric:
Well, I don't know. Are you kidding me? What? Durant's going to
show up here. You don't think he's going to pin it on the both of
you?
Jason:
What, you want me to thank you?
Ric:
No. You know what? I did it for Sonny. You just got lucky this time.
Jason:
Yeah, that's right. That's who you did it for. What, are you Sonny's
big defender now? Or is it Reese? Which one?
Ric:
You know, you're working on a full-blown case of paranoia. Or maybe
it's jealousy.
Ric:
What's the problem, Jason? What, is it that Sonny all of a sudden
realizes that I'm blood and you're not? And you just don't like
that?
Jason:
Well, if that's the way you want to see it, Ric, that's fine.
Ric:
No, no, really -- no, I think you're just so threatened by me that
you're willing to throw something ugly at Sonny's feet so you can
prove to him that I'm no longer to be trusted ever, ever. Like I'm
always out to get him, right?
Jason:
You are.
Ric:
No, you can spin it any way you want. I really don't care. See,
Sonny knows. All the chances that I let go by where I could have
done substantial damage, Jason --
Jason:
It's a smokescreen, Ric!
Ric:
Jason, you don't like me, ok? I don't really care. My brother's
willing to put the past where it belongs, and so am I. So you want
to come after me, fine, but you know the truth. And whatever you
think that I have done here today that makes you so suspicious,
Sonny sees it differently. And you know it.
Lucky:
Alexis -- hey, do you have a minute?
Alexis:
Sure. I do. Do you mind if we sit down for a second, though? My
feet are killing me. This pregnancy is making my feet swell already.
Can you believe that? How was yours, by the way? You probably had
a nice one.
Elizabeth:
Oh, it was great. With Cameron, I absolutely loved being pregnant.
Which is exactly why we need to talk to you.
Alexis:
Are you having a baby?
Elizabeth:
No, not yet. We need some legal advice first.
Lucky:
Elizabeth wants to be a surrogate. We'd like you to draw up the
contracts.
Reese:
Ric? It's time we get serious about opening our own firm.
Ric:
Yeah, funny. You know, I've been -- I've been thinking about that
and I really don't think it's a good idea.
Alexis:
And then, of course, you're going to have to get a mandatory physical.
Elizabeth:
Oh, well, I'm so healthy it's insane. And I had such an easy time
with Cameron that this should be a breeze.
Alexis:
So what about you? How do you feel about this? Is it going to be
ok with you that she's pregnant with somebody else's child for nine
months? You go through this, you know.
Lucky:
Well, as long as Elizabeths ok with it.
Alexis:
You were pregnant with Zanders baby when you were with Ric.
Was that all right?
Elizabeth:
Oh, Ric and I didn't work out for a lot of reasons. None of them
had to do with the pregnancy. And Lucky knows that. But, Alexis,
if you're uncomfortable with this --
Alexis:
No, not at all.
Elizabeth:
We can find somebody else.
Alexis:
Not at all. The only thing is this is a little more complicated
than you think. If you two are planning on getting married, there
could be a custody problem. If he's your husband at the time that
you have this baby, he is considered the legal father.
Elizabeth:
Oh.
Lucky:
We didn't think about that.
Elizabeth:
No.
Alexis:
It's a little more complicated than you think. And we really need
to talk about it. Now's not a good time. Why don't you guys make
an appointment, come down to the office, and we'll get into it later.
Lucky:
Ok. Thank you, Alexis.
Alexis:
You bet.
Elizabeth:
Ok. Come on. Did you detect a little attitude back there, or was
it just me?
Lucky:
Well, she does have a right to ask those questions.
Elizabeth:
Why? What's on your mind? Tell me.
Lucky:
Doesn't it bother you at all that you're going to have to give this
child up?
Elizabeth:
Well, of course I'm going to get a little attached. But I'm not
going to back out.
Reese:
Why the cold feet, counselor?
Ric:
Come on, Reese. You and Sonny? We go into business together; you
don't think you're going to tempt fate? You could blow that whole
relationship right out --
Reese:
He knows. I told him.
Ric:
What do you mean, he knows?
Reese:
I -- we discussed us going into business together. He was surprised,
but he didn't try to talk me out of it. He's started to trust you.
Ric:
Huh.
Reese:
Next step, brotherly love.
Ric:
Yeah, not so much if he finds out that I'm keeping your secret.
Or should I say, Charlotte's secret?
Alexis:
Hey. Who's Charlotte?
Ric:
Uh -- she's a prospective client.
John:
Heads up, you two. I need you to come down to my office to make
your statements about Evan Tucker's death -- separately.
Ric:
You know what, Durant? You're just blowing smoke. I already admitted
that it was self-defense, ok?
John:
Uh-huh. It's what you haven't admitted that I'm interested in. Surprise!!!
Reese:
Everybody get down! Come on!
Lucky:
Get back inside right now!
Reese:
Get down!
Lucky:
There's been a shooting!
Ofc.
Murphy: I heard gunshots. What's going on? What's going on?
Lucky:
Listen, I want you to go seal the building off right now. I'm going
to go check the corridors.
Ofc.
Murphy: You got it. Hey, you check the west side. I'm going north.
This way. Go, go, go, go!
Ric:
Alexis?
Ofc.
Murphy: We have gunshots down on the first
level, the ground floor.
Elizabeth:
Mr. Durant, can you hear me?
John:
Yeah, my back.
Elizabeth:
Ok.
John:
Ah, God!
Alexis:
I'm ok, I'm just not sure about the baby.
Ric:
You're sure? All right, all right. Yes, we need an ambulance at
the courthouse, first floor. It's a gunshot victim.
Reese:
Hey, how you doing, John?
John:
Oh, how do you think?
Ric:
Can you stand up?
Alexis:
No, I'm all right. I just -- I want to go to G.H. I want to check
on the baby.
Ric:
All right, ok, just slow -- slow, please.
Alexis:
I'm fine.
Ric:
Easy, easy. It's ok.
John:
All right. All right. Tell me, what do you see? What is it? Ah!
Elizabeth:
Well, it doesn't look critical, but the bullet -- it's still in
you. Ok.
John:
Oh! You hear that, Reese? It doesn't look critical, so don't start
celebrating yet!
Lucky:
Save your breath, Durant, she's gone. You all right?
John:
Oh. God!
