"Leave
Me a Message When It's Over"
Alexis:
If we're going to get divorced, one of us is going to have to commit
adultery.
Ric:
Why don't you just let me refile the petition with the judge?
Alexis:
We've already done that twice. He's denied us both times. Now, I
would be happy to do it, but in my condition, I think it might be
a little difficult for me to pick somebody up.
Ric:
Oh, come on. You've never looked more beautiful. I mean, what I'm
trying to say is that let's -- let's not give into stereotype here,
ok? I'm sure there are many cases on the dockets where the woman
is the offending party.
Alexis:
I'm pregnant, Ric. I don't think many people find pregnancy a turn-on.
Ric:
This is truly incredible. My own wife is asking me to cheat on her.
Alexis:
I am offering you a way to get out of this marriage, which you have
made perfectly clear is what you want to do. So I'm sure, given
how you feel about me, you would have no problem having a little
romp with somebody. It's perfectly fine with me. I'm a big girl.
I've made a list. How about the A.D.A.? The new one. She's cute.
Ric:
Come on.
Alexis:
All right, how about the personal trainer? You like her.
Ric:
You think I would date a trainer?
Alexis:
Ok, well, there's always Reese Marshall.
Ric:
Reese Marshall? She's -- she's not even my type.
Alexis:
She's very attractive, in a "Charlie's Angels" sort of
way.
Ric:
Oh, come on, she's with Sonny. Wait -- why are we even talking about
this? You're not exactly the best matchmaker.
Alexis:
Fine. Pick somebody yourself.
Ric:
You're actually saying that you wouldn't be upset? Not even the
least little bit?
Alexis:
At this point, our marriage is a piece of paper. What difference
does it make if you sleep with someone before or after the divorce
is final?
Ric:
Oh, come on, it would be a big difference to me if you were the
one who was having an affair.
Alexis:
"Affair" implies cheating. "Cheating" implies
commitment. We don't have one anymore, which I remind you, was your
choice.
Ric:
Ok, you want me to sleep with someone else? No problem.
Alexis:
Fine. Ok, enjoy yourself, and leave me
a message when it's over.
Reese:
Bourbon, neat, please? Hi.
Ric:
Hi.
Reese:
What's up?
Ric:
The judge refused to grant alexis and me a divorce.
Reese:
People get divorced every day.
Ric:
Yeah, I know. He wants other grounds other than incompatibility.
Reese:
So what are you going to do?
Ric:
Well, I was thinking of refiling on the basis of adultery -- mine.
Reese:
Are you referring to our --
Ric:
Look, I -- I know -- I know that we agreed to not mention anything
about -- now, look, these things have a way of blowing up in your
face. You know, I think it's better for both of us if we just tell
the truth now rather than later.
Reese:
You can't do that, ric.
Reese:
Sonny and I made love tonight. And I'm not sure where the relationship
is going, but if he finds out we were together, it will be over.
Ric:
It'd be saving you from making a big mistake.
Reese:
Maybe. But the more I'm with sonny, the more I want to be with him.
Ric:
Reese, I'm not trying to rob you of any happiness with sonny. And
I definitely don't want to get into another battle with my brother.
I just -- my marriage is in shambles and I need a way out.
Reese:
We both agreed that the night between us never happened. And no
one even saw you in my room. So why rock the boat?
Ric:
Yeah, you're right. It never happened.
