"Please Don't Abandon Us"

Alexis: Do you honestly think I don't know what I'm facing?

Ric: I don't. I really don't because if you did completely understand the whole gravity of this situation, you would see that trying to keep Sonny out of his daughter's life is like hitting your fist against a brick wall. It's pointless. You need to think.

Alexis: You think this is about keeping him out of her life? Do you think I'm doing this to hurt him? I'm not doing this to keep her out of his life. I'm -- my preference is that he would change his life so that she could live safely within it, but he won't do that.

Ric: No.

Alexis: He won't do it. So, as her mother, what else am I to do except try no matter what?

Ric: So you're fighting a losing battle, Alexis, and I cannot -- absolutely cannot -- help you dig your own grave. You know what, if you insist on going through another custody battle with Sonny, do it on your own.

Alexis: You're my husband, and I love you. And kristina loves you, and we both need you. Please don't abandon us.

Ric: That's not what I'm trying to do, Alexis. I'm trying to save you from yourself. I'm trying to save you from making a mistake that you potentially would not come back from. Now, listen to me -- I know you don't want to hear this, but not only will you lose the petition for custody, you will once again engage a man who you know full well, when you threaten him, especially where his children are concerned, he's going to come out swinging and he won't give at all.

Alexis: I know that I may lose. I know the law. But I won't be able to live with myself if I don't try. And I expect you to understand that. Dara seems to think that we have grounds, that he was woefully inadequate in providing a safe environment, in that kristina was kidnapped right out from under his nose. She has already suffered under his parentage.

Ric: I am begging you, please drop this.

Alexis: I can't. And I need you to sign a petition. It's not going to look very good for me if my own husband doesn't support me.

Ric: You know what I wish? I wish that I could take you and Kristina on a cruise around the world. I wish, even better, that i could strand the both of us on a desert island, and I could love you to such distraction so that you would relax and you would concentrate on our family. But I know you, and there is nothing that I can do to change your mind and make you let this go.

Alexis: Ahem. So you'll stand by me, then?

Ric: You are willingly and unnecessarily putting yourself and our family at risk. I cannot be a party to that.

Alexis: Then what you're saying is that you believe that Sonny's rights as kristina's father outweigh her right to grow up safe, and that is unacceptable to me. You go ahead and you support your brother. You be sympathetic to your brother all you want. I don't give a damn.

Woman: Oh -- Ms. Davis?

Alexis: Hi. You must be Dr. Winters.

Dr. Winters: Call me Louise.

Alexis: Thank you. Have a seat, Louise. Thank you for coming so quickly.

Louise: Well, you made it sound urgent.

Alexis: Dr. Winters, I'm concerned about my daughter's safety, so I was hoping that we might be able to get this process going as quickly as possible.

Dara: Hello? Hi.

Sonny: Oh, hi. Yeah.

Dara: I know, you're as surprised to see me as I am to be here. My timing's bad. Sorry.

Sonny: Agent Marshall was just leaving. Or not. I don't -- which --

Reese: I'm going.

Sonny: Oh, ok.

Reese: Yep. Oh, and thank you very much for a fascinating evening.

Sonny: Yeah, we'll do it again. Oh, come on in.

Dara: Thanks.

Sonny: So -- I'm sorry. So it's a little late for family law, isn't it?

Dara: I'm flattered. You've been keeping track of me.

Sonny: Well, I like to know how, you know, everybody lines up. Do you want -- i'll get you a drink or --

Dara: No.

Sonny: Oh.

Dara: I'm on the clock. Alexis davis hired me to represent her in the petition of sole custody of kristina.

Sonny: Alexis really thinks i'm going to stand by and let another child be taken from me?

Dara: Well, as the petition states, there have been substantial changes in the domestic circumstances that existed prior to the original custody agreement. That warrants revisions, especially when the welfare and the safety of the child are at stake.

Sonny: Can you say it in english, please?

Dara: Ok, Kristina was kidnapped while she was under your care because of your prior illegal dealings with faith rosco.

Sonny: Ok, first of all, Faith took Kristina, not just because of me -- she wanted to get back at Ric.

Dara: Well, Ric's the D.A., Not an alleged racketeer. Besides, Sonny, your son was taken.

Sonny: Ok. Leave my son out of this.

Dara: Unfortunately, Sonny, that is not an option.

Sonny: Ok.

Dara: Michael's death will figure prominently in the judge's review of this case. It's imminent. He's already agreed to hearings. In the meantime, your contact with Kristina has been suspended until this issue can be resolved.

Sonny: Alexis is out of her head if she thinks I'm going to stand by and let another child be taken from me. You know what I'm going through right now?

Dara: From her perspective --

Sonny: I don't care about her perspective! We're done. We're done here.

[Sonny sighs]

Dara: Look, just so you know, part of the process is court-ordered psychological evaluations and profiles on both you and Alexis.

Sonny: Right.

Dara: Ok? The court will be in touch to set up the times.

Sonny: Find Alexis Davis as soon as you can. Smooth creamy jell-o pudding with real sundae topping.

Sonny: You would show up here, Ric.

Ric: I came by to tell you where I stand in all of this. I tried to convince Alexis not to file that petition. I also told her that i think that Kristina needs to have you in her life. I also told her to calm down and be thankful that Kristina is back safe and sound.

Sonny: Obviously, she didn't listen. She badgered some clueless judge into ordering me away from my daughter. That little girl is going to be taken out of her life by strangers, separated from both parents, she gets back here, and now this. Alexis claims to be the paragon, you know, of motherhood. Doesn't she know this is going to confuse and scare kristina even more, Ric?

Ric: Look, you're preaching to the choir, Sonny. I agree with you. A custody battle's the last thing any of us needs at this point.

Sonny: She's going to lose, ok? She's going to lose, you know that, so what are we going to do?

Ric: I know you're angry.

Sonny: Yeah.

Ric: But I'm begging you, don't make a bad situation worse.

Sonny: How can it get any worse?

Ric: You and I both know how.

[Phone rings]

Sonny: Hello. Where? I have an appointment.

Alexis: I assume Dara served you with the petition.

Sonny: Yeah, she came by with this worthless piece of paper that said i can't see my daughter.

Alexis: Sonny, it's not a worthless piece of paper. It's issued by a court of law and even you have to abide by it.

Sonny: Shut up, shut up for a second, ok? Kristina's my daughter. You didn't conceive her alone, you're not going to raise her alone. Hear me out on this. You are not cutting me out of my daughter's life.

Alexis: Unfortunately, we're both in a position now where a judge has to decide --

Sonny: I don't care what a stranger says. Don't threaten me, bitch.

Alexis: Every woman is a bitch to you eventually, aren't they?

Sonny: I know what this is about, and it's not what's best for Kristina. You're upset because I tossed you right on your hyperventilating butt when Ii went back to my wife, all right. And the only weapon you have now is my daughter. Well, I'm not going to lay down for her. I'm not going to allow you -- I'm not going to allow you to be the only influence in that little girl's life. I'm not going to let you smother her with your overprotective crap so she turns out as neurotic as you are. I already -- I already lost my son to a lunatic. I'm not going to lose my daughter to another one, even if it happens to be her mother.

Louise: Ms. Davis?

Sonny: Can you just wait, ok? Because we're in the middle of something. Just move -- move away. Thanks.

Alexis: Your timing couldn't be better. Sonny, this is Dr. Winters. She is our court-appointed psychiatrist.
