"I'm Going to do Whatever's Necessary to Get It [Custody], Legal or Otherwise"

Ric: Murphy. I came to view the crime scene.

Ofc. Murphy: You could, but I believe your wife has beat you to it.

Ric: Thanks.

Ofc. Murphy: Mm-hmm.

Ric: Excuse me. Hey. What are you doing?

Alexis: What does it look like I'm doing?

Ric: Well, you're supposed to be taking it easy for many reasons, not the least of which is that you're pregnant and you've been diagnosed with a heart condition. I think that taking pictures of a crime scene with multiple victims wouldn't be construed as a stress-reliever.

Alexis: This is incontrovertible proof that Sonny has a brutal business. And I can talk till I'm blue in the face -- and i have -- but a picture is worth a thousand words, and I intend to use these as exhibit a in my petition to get sole custody of my daughter.

Ric: There is no way I'm letting you do this.

Ric: Will you stop, please?

Alexis: You won't let me? See if you can stop me.

Ric: Your pictures won't prove that Sonny ordered the murders.

Alexis: But he did, didn't he, and you know that. And yet you let Kristina go to that dedication when you knew something was going to happen there that was terrible. She sat on his lap, and you knew that he could've been shot at at any moment.

Ric: You're overreacting.

Alexis: You think? How big does the body count have to get? How many more people have to die --

Ric: Sonny still has unlimited visitation.

Alexis: That was before.

Ric: "Before" nothing. As far as the law is concerned, nothing has changed.

Alexis: Michael was just murdered. Morgan and Kristina were just kidnapped, never mind the carnage that has just happened in this place and the retaliation that is sure to follow. Last time I checked, that was against the law.

Ric: Faith rosco threatened all of us, not just Sonny, all right? And as far as the -- the murders are concerned, there's no way you're going to prove that Sonny was involved.

Alexis: I could if you would help me. But you won't, and I want to know why. When, all of a sudden, did it happen that you refuse to take my side?

Ric: I am still on your side. I am still your husband. But I am trying to look at this -- I'm trying to get the big picture here.

Alexis: What is it that you're seeing that you think i can't see?

Ric: Well, I'm seeing a pregnant woman who continues to get upset despite her doctors' orders. I see a frustrated attorney who feels guilty that she kept Sonny out of jail years ago. But mostly -- mostly, Alexis, I see a wife who needs to trust her husband.

Alexis: I'm trying. I --

Ric: If there is a case against Sonny, I will pursue it. I swear to you, if there is a legal way that i can restrain his access to Kristina, I will do that. But in the meantime, you need to back off and give him a little breathing room.

Alexis: Anything else?

Ric: Alexis, you have your child back safe, alive. Be happy for that. Spend time with her. Why would you risk our family for a fight that you are not going to win? Now, I want -- I want to be able to go to the park, all three of us. I want to be able to make love to you. I want to have a normal life.

Alexis: I don't really see how that's how going to happen.

Ric: Did you hear anything that i just said?

Alexis: I heard a husband who doesn't seem to take my concerns very seriously. I heard a D.A. Who seems to be intimidated by his own brother and I heard a man who seems to be more invested in his unborn child than he is the well-being of my daughter.

Ric: That is not true, Alexis. What do you want from me, huh? If I had strong enough evidence to go into court, I would go after Sonny. If I could convince Sonny to back off of Kristina, I'd do that, as well. I am trying to be a good husband here. So why don't you tell me, what do you want?

Alexis: I want you to promise me that my daughter is going to be safe with your brother. I want you to promise me that she is not going to be kidnapped again. I want you to promise me that she will not be killed in cold blood like Michael was or caught in the crossfire like my sister was. I want you to promise me that Sonny's lifestyle will not hurt my daughter.

Ric: Our daughter.

Alexis: Can you promise me those things? I rest my case.

Ric: Elizabeth. Hi.

Elizabeth: Hi.

Ric: How's Dr. Adair?

Elizabeth: She's still in the O.R.

Ric: Hmm. Any idea when she might be out?

Elizabeth: Oh, you would have to ask one of her doctors, but I don't think anytime soon.

Ric: Ok.

Elizabeth: Did you know that one of the murders happened in that elevator?

Ric: Yeah.

Elizabeth: So, how's Alexis doing?

Ric: Well, I think it's unrealistic of me to expect her to stay calm.

Elizabeth: Well, she's been through a lot.

Ric: Yeah.

Elizabeth: You both have.

Ric: I don't need to be telling my problems to you.

Elizabeth: Hey. Hey. It's me, remember? I've seen you at your worst. I think I can manage.

Ric: That's right. You know, in a way, my life was a lot simpler when i hated Sonny. I mean, I knew what I wanted. I was clear, you know?

Elizabeth: Mm-hmm, and you also drove yourself insane -- not a figure of speech, by the way.

Ric: Well, yeah, there is that. Alexis wants to keep Kristina away from Sonny 100% of the time now. It's not realistic. I mean, she's not going to win. Sonny still has his rights as a father, and Kristina loves him. The harder Alexis fights, the tougher Sonny's going to get.

Elizabeth: Puts you in an awkward position, doesn't it?

Ric: Yeah. What would you do with Cameron, I mean, if Zander was still alive?

Elizabeth: Well, of course, I'd let him visit. I mean, I think every child deserves a father.

Alexis: Even a father who's a professional criminal whose enemies murdered his own son?

Alexis: Just because a man is a father doesn't mean that he is capable of raising a child.

Elizabeth: I -- I completely agree.

Alexis: Zander's father i know loved him very much. But because he lied and he deceived him, zander's life was destroyed.

Ric: Sonny's different.

Alexis: He is different. He not only lies, he murders. And yet he expects everyone's love and everyone's respect.

Elizabeth: But he is still Kristina's father.

Alexis: Elizabeth, would you leave your son alone with Sonny?

Elizabeth: Alexis, all I was saying is that in a perfect world, every child deserves --

Alexis: I know, but it isn't a perfect world. I wish that it were. But it isn't. I don't doubt for one minute that Sonny loves Kristina. But she shouldn't have to put her life on the line in order for him to do that. And if he really loved her, he would acknowledge that and he would give her up.

Ric: That's not going to happen if you keep pushing so hard.

Alexis: Thank you for your compassion and understanding.

Ric: Where -- where are you going?

Alexis: I thought the judge might need some pictures of the elevator.

Ric: Why do I not like the sound of that?

Alexis: You don't need to.

Elizabeth: Did I make everything worse?

Ric: Not at all.

Elizabeth: You know, I don't blame her for being upset.

Ric: Well, neither do Ii. But Alexis isn't thinking clearly. Threatening Sonny's only going to make things worse.

Ric: I should track Alexis down.

Elizabeth: Well, maybe you both just need a break.

Ric: You haven't noticed, Alexis is a little high-maintenance.

Elizabeth: Yeah, but you love her anyway.

Ric: You know, after what happened between you and me, I didn't think I'd ever get a chance at love, much less marriage again. Alexis came at me sideways, though. I mean, I pursued her for my own reasons. It started out as, I mean, a manipulation, but, I mean, now she's pregnant with my child. I just -- I want -- I want a chance to make this work.

Elizabeth: So what are you going to do?

Ric: Well, if she would -- I don't know, if she would give in a little, maybe Sonny would. But she's not going to do that.

Elizabeth: Well, maybe she just can't.

Ric: No, she's obsessed. Believe me, I know the signs.

Elizabeth: Yeah.

Ric: Alexis is starting a fight that she's not going to be able to win, and I don't know how to help her.

At the memorial park

Alexis: (to kid on the swings) Hi. That's ok. You can still swing. (kid runs away)

Alexis: (now sitting on the swing, she takes out her phone) Hi. It's Alexis Davis. It's been a while. Probably the last person you expected to hear from. I have a proposition for you.

Ric: Oh.

Elizabeth: You're blaming yourself for a lot of this, aren't you?

Ric: Well, a lot of it is my fault.

Elizabeth: Were you wrong to put faith in prison, make peace with Sonny? To want the very best for Kristina and Alexis and your baby on the way?

Ric: Didn't look at it like that.

Elizabeth: Hmm. Ric, you've made some terrible mistakes.

Ric: Hmm.

Elizabeth: But now you're trying to make amends, which is really wonderful. But it doesn't mean that you have to fix everything right away. You know, give yourself a break a little. Everybody deserves a second chance. Sometimes a third, even a fourth.

Dara: Alexis? Hey.

Alexis: Hi. Listen, thank you so much for meeting me here.

Dara: Yeah. It's been a while.

Alexis: Yeah. How you liking family law?

Dara: Well, some days are better than others. I surely don't miss any of this. I'm not going back to the D.A.'s office.

Alexis: It's their loss.

Dara: Hey, how's Kristina?

Alexis: Lucky to be alive.

Dara: I was sorry to hear about Michael Corinthos.

Alexis: That boy didn't stand a chance. But my daughter will, which is why I called you. I want us to work on the same team for once -- against Sonny.

Dara: You're going for full custody?

Alexis: Yeah. And I'm going to do whatever's necessary to get it, legal or otherwise.
