"You
Do Whatever it Takes to get Our Daughter Back"
Ofc.
Murphy: Ms. Davis, D.A. Lansing? There's been a new development
in Kristina's kidnapping.
Sonny:
Don't move!
Sonny:
Put your hands up. Turn around, face me. Slowly.
Sonny:
What did you do to my daughter?
Woman:
I don't have her.
Sonny:
I'm going to ask you again. What did you do with Kristina?
Woman:
I was sent here to help you find her. I'm a federal agent. May I
show you my badge?
Sonny:
Where is it?
Woman:
Left inside jacket pocket.
Sonny:
Don't. You do that again, I'll blow your head off.
Sonny:
Reese Marshall, F.B.I.
Reese:
Is there a big word i can help you with? Name, rank, serial number.
How long does that take to absorb?
Sonny:
Assuming these credentials are real. How do i know you're not some
hotshot reporter looking for a big get?
Reese:
Understand something, ok -- I didn't ask to be assigned to this
case. I get no satisfaction from helping professional thugs.
Sonny:
Well, if you feel that way, why didn't you take a pass?
Reese:
An innocent child has been kidnapped, and that's my specialty.
Sonny:
Finding them or kidnapping them?
Reese:
What do you think?
Sonny:
I think you're tap-dancing.
Reese:
Soheck me out, go ahead. Should be easy enough. I've handled my
share of high-profile cases.
Sonny:
Yeah? Like what?
Reese:
4-year-old molly Richardson?
Sonny:
The financier's daughter?
Reese:
Yeah, I'm the one that got her back. Juan segovia?
Sonny:
Designer's kid.
Reese:
There have been many others.
Sonny:
I'm glad to see you have such a high opinion of yourself.
Reese:
I don't see the point of false modesty.
Sonny:
Unfortunately, I'm not impressed. You see, because i don't hold
the F.B.I. -- Or the law enforcement, for that matter -- in high
regard. Because they're inefficient and, nine out of 10 times, they
do their job wrong.
Reese:
Well, you should be really thankful for that, because if they worked
better, you'd be pressing license plates for about 40 cents a day.
All right, you know what, this is wasting time. Somebody walked
onto your property, right past your fancy alarm systems and your
burly security guards, and they stole your daughter. Now, i can
find her or i can walk away. So what's it going to be? Do you want
Kristina back or not?
Sonny:
You're such a hotshot investigator, why don't you question the prime
suspect in Kristina's kidnapping instead of breaking into my house?
Reese:
There is no prime suspect as far as I'm concerned.
Sonny:
Well, hey, you know what, there's Sam McCall. If you'd done your
job --
Reese:
Yeah, I know all about Sam mccall -- your former lover, the mother
of your stillborn child, and now your business partner's current
girlfriend.
Sonny:
Then, again, how come you're not at the pcpd questioning her?
Reese:
Sam's in custody. I could speak to her anytime i want. The crime
scene, on the other hand, gets contaminated quite easily, and I
like to walk it while it's relatively fresh and feel the ambiance,
put myself in the perpetrator's mind and try to see it through their
eyes.
Sonny:
Oh, you're one of those profilers? "The guy you're looking
for is medium height, medium build, he's got a pet hamster in his
basement"?
Reese:
Yeah, I don't categorize that easily.
Sonny:
If we're going to be working together, then i got to know how you
operate.
Reese:
All right. I don't do protocol, and i don't follow rules unless
I make them up, and everyone is a suspect. The blind, half-deaf
granny in the wheelchair, the angel-faced caregiver that reads her
stories, and even the loving father -- who happens to be at war
with Kristina's mother over custody and visitation.
Ric:
She's telling the truth. Agent marshall is possibly one of the most
suspicious women i've ever met. God help anybody who doesn't see
things her way.
Reese:
Nice to see you, Ric. This must be Kristina's mother?
Alexis:
Alexis Davis. Nice to meet you.
Reese:
Ms. Davis.
Ric:
You're not going to have to go very far to recover Kristina.
Reese:
What have you got?
Sonny:
What is it?
Reese:
A ransom note.
Sonny:
"I have your daughter. She's safe." Where'd you get this?
Alexis
officer murphy found it in a storage box that Sam was keeping in
kelly's basement.
Ric:
Her fingerprints were all over it, Sonny. Appears Sam is our kidnapper.
No doubt about it.
Jason:
Who called in the feds?
Sonny:
I don't know -- Alexis, Ric. You hear about the ransom note?
Jason:
No.
Sonny:
They found it in a box of Sam's things. I know you don't want to
believe that Sam did it --
Jason:
Sonny --
Sonny:
But the evidence is piling way too high. I'm telling you, i think
Sam took Kristina.
Jason:
Did you just listen to what you said? "The evidence is piling
too high"? Doesn't it strike you as a little too convenient
the way all the cards are stacked against Sam?
Sonny:
No, what strikes me is you're way too much in love to see what's
right in front of your face. When are you going to stop thinking
with your heart and help me get my kid back? I don't know how welch's
does it.
Jason:
You're desperate to pin this kidnapping on Sam, and I understand
why.
Sonny:
Why?
Jason:
Why? Because you know that if Sam had your daughter, she would keep
her safe. You don't want to believe that Kristina was grabbed by
an enemy who would use her to hurt you. But I'm telling you, every
second you waste looking at Sam, you're just letting the real kidnapper
get further and further away.
Sonny:
What's wrong with this picture? Usually, i'm the one who gets blindsided
by emotion, you see things the way they are. That's how we work.
It's too late in the game now to change the rules. I just want you
to look at the facts, all right? Sam wants a little girl to make
up for the two she lost. She's single-minded when it comes to getting
what she wants and she knows how to run a con and she's one of the
most convincing liars around. What is so hard for you to get?
Jason:
Sonny, she broke into the house, she took the money, she even spoke
to Kristina, but she did not kidnap her.
Sonny:
I'm starting to lose my patience now. I get that you love this woman.
But Kristina's my daughter, my flesh and blood.
Jason:
You know, I'm just -- I'm just going to leave before one of us says
something we'll regret.
Sonny:
Whoa, whoa. Ok, what i'm -- I'm just trying to say to you, you need
to get focused.
Sam:
How many times do I have to say it? I have no knowledge ofristina's
whereabouts. I did not send a ransom note because there was no reason
to. I did not kidnap Kristina.
Ric:
All right, you know this cases personal to me.
Sam:
What, is that a threat?
Ric:
No, I'm just trying to say that if you cooperate with us, i will
do whatever i can to go easy on you. Now, we n make a deal. Just
tell me where Kristina is.
Sam:
Oh, Ric, for the millionth time, I don't know.
Alexis:
She admitted anything? What's happened?
Ric:
Sam adamantly denies any involvement.
Reese:
Which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. You know, I want to
take ms. Mccall back to Sonny's place, walk her through every step
she claims to have taken, and then compare the re-enactment to her
sworn statement.
Ric:
That's a good idea. I'll make the arrangements.
Reese:
All right, I'll come along.
Ric:
Thanks.
Alexis:
What are you thinking?
Sonny:
Could work.
Alexis:
God help me, but I can still read your mind. I know what you're
thinking, and you are not going to sit idly by and watch the authorities
handle this because you don't think they're capable of it. You have
your own ways of breaking people -- illegal, unconscionable, immoral
ways.
Sonny:
Where are you going with this? Because I'm not in the mood for one
of your, you know, sanctimonious lectures.
Alexis:
I'm saying do it.
Sonny:
Ahem.
Alexis:
Do it. You do whatever it takes to get
our daughter back.
Sam:
See, there's landscaping work in the process on Sonny's property,
and I used the ladder and climbed rough the window.
Reese:
And Kristina was there?
Sam:
Yeah, sleeping.
Reese:
Wait, wait, back up a second. She was sleeping?
Sam:
At first. At first.
Ric:
Wait a minute. Ok. "Kristina looked up and saw me. I put my
finger to my lips and I whispered, 'shh.'" Appears you contradicted
yourself.
Sam:
I misspoke!
Ric:
Or you lied. You were lying this whole time, but you're going to
tell us the truth now. Where did you take Kristina?
Jason:
Hey, max, open up.
Max:
Hey, Jason.
Jason:
Hey, something's happening down by the lake if you want to check
it out, ok?
Sonny:
Ric, come on, how long's it take to get transportation?
Ric:
Sonny, any minute now.
Sonny:
Any minute? Well --
Alexis:
Sam, do you understand that kidnapping is a federal offense?
Sam:
I have nothing more to say.
Alexis:
Sam, just tell me ere she is, please? I'll get you the best legal
advice that I can find. I'll pay for it. I'll refuse to testify.
I'll do whatever it takes. Just give me back my --
Sam:
No, one more time, Alexis -- I don't know where she is.
Sonny
and Ric: Whoa!
Reese:
Everybody stay back!
Ric:
What is it?
Sam:
What are you doing? Who are you?
Jason:
Sam, stop.
Sam:
Jason.
Jason:
I'm getting you out of here.
Sam:
You do believe me.
Jason:
No, no, no, Sam, Sam, we can't do this right now, ok? We'll sort
everything out later. We got to go.
Sam:
Ok.
Sonny:
Stop right there.
[Gun
cocks]
Sonny:
Why are you doing this?
Jason:
Sonny --
Sonny:
Step out of the way, Jason.
