27, 2004 Transcript At the P.C.P.D. Alexis: Sam, it'll be all right. Just try to relax. There are grounds for an appeal, so -- Sam: Ow. It hurts. Alexis: Sam, what's wrong? Sam: It's my baby, please. Alexis: Sam? Sam? Ric: Get the cuffs off. Sam: No, I really -- Ric: Get the cuffs off. Alexis: It's ok. Sam: Ow! Alexis: Would you please go call somebody at the hospital. Sam: Help me, please! My baby! Alexis: She could lose her baby. Sam: Ow! Alexis: It'll be all right. Sam: It hurts so bad. Alexis: Just try and take some breaths, ok? Sam: I'm so scared. Alexis: And why don't you hold my hand. You can squeeze it as hard as you want. You got to breathe. Sam: What's wrong with my baby? Why does it hurt so much? Alexis: You guys are with me? Sam: Can you go with me, please? Alexis: Of course I can, and I will be happy to do it. All right, guys? Sam: Ow. Ric: Whoa, whoa, wait a minute, deputy; you're not going with them. Deputy: The fugitive is in my custody, sir. I have a court order for extradition. Ric: What, do you want to put her on the prison van now, huh? You want to take her down to South Carolina in the hopes that maybe she's going to lose her baby? Sam McCall is pregnant with my niece. She's not leaving Port Charles until I know that that child is safe. At the hospital Sam: Is the baby all right? Dr. Meadows: So far, so good. Sam: Look, are you sure? Dr. Meadows: How's the pain? Sam: It's really bad. Why does it hurt so much? Dr. Meadows: Well, we'll know as soon as we get the results of the other tests. Sam: How long do you think that's going to take? Dr. Meadows: I can put a rush on it. Alexis: That won't be necessary. Ric: Yeah, Ms. McCall was being extradited to South Carolina when she collapsed. I don't want to move her if there's any risk at all to the child. Dr. Meadows: None of us do, Mr. Lansing. Ric: I understand that, doctor. I just want you to take some time and extra care when you're analyzing the tests. That's all I’m trying to say. Dr. Meadows: I'll let you know as soon as I get the test results. And I'll order you some pain medication. Ric: Thank you. Sam: Could somebody please call Sonny? Ric: Yeah, I will, I will. You try to relax. Alexis: It's going to be all right. Sam: I just -- I need to see Sonny. Ric: Come on, come on -- Alexis: If I didn't know better, I'd think you actually cared about Sam and her baby. Ric: That child is my niece, all right, even if Sonny chooses to ignore it. Alexis: Five minutes ago, you were willing to ship her off to South Carolina. Ric: That was before she collapsed. Can you grasp the difference here, counselor? Alexis: Oh, so you have selective humanity? Ric: Yes, for that baby, yes, I do. I'm not going to make an innocent child pay for its parents' mistakes. [Phone rings] Sonny: It's all right. Just come over here for a second. Carly: You know what? Just go answer it. You know we'll both feel better. Sonny: All right. Yeah? Ric: Sam's in the hospital. There could be something wrong with the baby. Sonny: What happened? Ric: The judge ordered immediate extradition, and Sam -- she collapsed when -- Sonny: I thought you were going to get a postponement. Alexis: It was denied. Ric: Sam collapsed while being led out of the squad room. We're waiting on the test results. Sonny: Ok. Alexis, look, you know what? I don't want to be hard on you right now, but if -- if you're not capable of defending Sam, you know -- Alexis: I'm capable. I'm very capable of defending Sam, and I intend to win. Sonny: Ok. Just make sure she stays in Port Charles, ok? Thanks. Sam: Sonny -- Sonny: How you doing? Sam: I've been better. Sonny: Is the baby all right? Sam: Yeah, I -- I hope so. Sonny: Is there any pain? Sam: No -- yeah, I'm ok. Sonny: So what happened? Sam: Ric and Alexis -- they got into a huge fight in front of the judge. Less than half of it was about me. He upheld the extradition, and I was supposed to leave tonight. Sonny: Right. Sam: The cop from Bailey's Beach showed up, and I just -- I got scared, Sonny. I didn't know what to do. Sonny: Is -- wait, what about Ric? Did he do anything to cause this or what -- Sam: No, no, Sonny, nobody hurt me. I -- I'm faking it. Sonny: Even if they take you to South Carolina, it would only be for a little while. Sam: I want my baby born here. Sonny: She -- she will be. Look, I'm not -- look, I don't think, you know, faking it was the right thing to do, but at least you bought yourself some time. Sam: Yeah -- Sonny: They all think there's something medically wrong -- Sam: Only until the test results come back, Sonny. Sonny: Alexis will buy time. Sam: No, Ric had her all flustered at the hearing. He kept implying there was some big romance or something going between the two of them. It -- Sonny: Listen to me, ok? I've seen Alexis work for years. She may be a little off, I'll give you that, but she's brilliant at what she does, and she'll do anything for a child -- even if it's my child. Sam: Well, I hope so. Sonny: Well, you know, look, Alexis is a diversion at this point, ok? Because I'm going to do everything I have to do. You're not -- I'm not going to let you go to prison. I'm going to take care of you and our child. Sonny: Alexis -- Sam says there was a problem with the extradition hearing? Alexis: There'll be other hearings. Sonny: Ok. You're not sabotaging this just for some kind of revenge or anything -- Alexis: Ok -- Sonny: I'm just asking, I'm just asking. Alexis: And I'm just telling you that you really need to try to grasp that this is not about you. This is about Sam. Sonny: Ok. Alexis: I can actually empathize with her. Sonny: So this has nothing to do with us sleeping together that night -- Alexis: No, no, it doesn't -- no, no -- see? That's my point. Sonny: No, I'm just -- Alexis: Well, and I'm just telling you again. You're accusing me of having ulterior motives, and I'm just trying to do my job. And you know what else? I actually have more sympathy for Sam now than I did before. To Carly Alexis: You were very effective with that deputy. Carly: Thanks. Where's Sonny? Alexis: Tearing into Ric, I presume. Carly: Good. Alexis: Carly, I know that you're very tempted to tell Sonny about Kristina. Please don't do it. Everybody is much better off this way.
