Ric: So you went against your better judgment and you covered up a murder because Luke asked you to?

Skye: Yes.

Ric: Is it because you trust Luke?

Skye: Yes.

Ric: Safe to say you rely on him?

Skye: That's right.

Ric: When he suggested that you move the body to the crawlspace underneath the house, you agreed?

Skye: Yes.

Ric: Yes, and then when that became too dangerous, he suggested that you put the body in the freezer of the Quartermaine basement, and you complied with that. The truth is you would've done anything that Luke Spencer asked you to, wouldn't you?

Skye: Well, I don't know about that.

Ric: Oh, come on. Well, you love Luke Spencer, right? You would do anything to please him. As a matter of fact, you'd go to great lengths in order to hold on to him.

Skye: Well, I wouldn't kill anyone.

Ric: I'm sorry, miss. Are you saying that you don't love Luke Spencer? Are you denying this fact?

Skye: All right, I love -- I love Luke Spencer! Is that what you want to hear? I love Luke Spencer!

Skye: I didn't want this. For God's sake, what sane woman would? Luke Spencer is a complete nightmare, ok? He's totally unreliable --

Ric: Yes, well, witness his absence here in the courtroom today. I think we can draw the conclusion that Mr. Spencer doesn't care one way or another about --

Alexis: Objection. Counselor's conclusions are immaterial to this case.

Judge: Sustained.

Ric: I will rephrase, your honor. Ms. Quartermaine, in your opinion, does Mr. Spencer's rather conspicuous absence from the courtroom today show his depth of feeling for you?

Skye: You've made your point, but you know what? It doesn't matter. I feel the way I feel, and nothing's going to change that.

Ric: Yes, and I think we all are aware of how badly you have it for Luke Spencer. Bad enough, perhaps, to kill detective Ross Duncan and try to frame Luke’s wife for the murder --

Alexis: Objection.

Ric: So that you can hold on to him.

Skye: I didn't kill anyone!

[Judge pounds gavel]

Emily: After what you just heard, you have to believe Skye is telling the truth.

Lucky: Emily, denials from a desperate woman don't carry a lot of weight with me.

Alexis: I understand that you have mixed feelings, Lucky.

Lucky: Alexis, they're not mixed.

Alexis: I need you to reconsider. You may be the only person that can help at this point. I need you to take the stand in Skye’s defense.

Lucky: And what would you expect me to say?

Alexis: I want you to say that the note that Luke wrote is too convenient. I want you to say the fact Luke isn't here is suspicious, and I want you to admit that Ric’s theory is patently absurd.

Lucky: Forget it.

[Emily sighs]

Emily: Will you give us a minute?

Alexis: Sure.

Emily: Ok. All right, listen to me. I realize that you're carrying around a lot of loss right now, and I know how angry and helpless that makes you feel, but standing by silent while Skye gets framed for murder won't help. It won't make your mother well or find your father or bring Nikolas back. I think you know this in your heart. All Skye is guilty of is loving your father. And if Luke were here, he would want you to help her.

Lucky: Emily, ok, what -- what do you want me to do? Do you want me to lie under oath? I think Skye is guilty, ok? And I'm sorry if that doesn't sit well with you.

Emily: You know what? It doesn't. You're refusing to be the cop you are and look at the situation rationally. You're ready to throw Skye’s life away because you're too angry and stubborn to see the truth! You know, fine. I can't stop it, but I’m damn sure not going to hang around and watch.

Ric: You were with the defendant in the park the night that she claims to have been stalked and attacked by your mother. Isn't this correct?

Lucky: Yes.

Ric: Now, isn't it just as likely that Laura, realizing the magnitude of the frame up that the defendant had put --

Alexis: Objection. Speculation.

Judge: Sustained.

Ric: I'll put it another way. Based on your personal knowledge of your mother, isn't it possible that Laura just followed the defendant into the park merely for the purpose of a confrontation?

Lucky: No, I can't say to what my mother might've been thinking.

Alexis: You know, even the witness recognizes whistling in the dark when he hears it. Objection, your honor.

Judge: Sustained. You're trying my patience, Mr. Lansing. Get to the point of this witness.

Ric: Yes, yes, your honor. Officer Spencer, what exactly did you see in the park the night of May 21?

Lucky: A woman with blond hair attacked Skye with a knife. That's what I saw.

Ric: So it's -- it's your testimony that your own mother tried to murder the defendant in cold blood?

Lucky: No, a woman with blond hair did. I can't say that it was my mother.

Ric: All right, then it is possible that Skye Quartermaine may have staged the entire incident to make it look as if your mother --

Alexis: Objection. Your honor, calls for conjecture on the part of the witness.

Judge: Sustained. Stick to the facts, Mr. Lansing.

Ric: I'm through with this witness, your honor.

Alexis: Redirect, your honor. How well do you know your father?

Lucky: Better than most.

Alexis: Based on that knowledge, do you find it out of character for Luke to communicate accusations by mail?

Lucky: Yes.

Alexis: Is your father the kind of man who believes in a more direct form of confrontation?

Ric: Objection, your honor. Leading the witness.

Judge: Sustained. Rephrase, Ms. Davis.

Alexis: Is it like Luke not to follow through with a call about your mother?

Lucky: No.

Alexis: To be absent from these proceedings?

Lucky: No. If he thought Skye was guilty; he'd be here to testify.

Alexis: I'm almost done, Officer Spencer. Do you believe that Skye loves your father?

Lucky: Yes.

Alexis: Do you think that love is twisted enough for her to be capable of committing the heinous crime that the D.A. is accusing her of?

Ric: Objection, your honor! Calls for speculation!

Judge: You brought the witness, Mr. Lansing. I'd like to hear his answer. Your objection is overruled.

Alexis: I'll ask you again. Do you think Skye Quartermaine is guilty of murder?

Lucky: No, I do not.

[Gallery buzzes]

Alexis: I don't know what to say. Your testimony was a huge boost for Skye.

Lucky: Emily was right. I just kept seeing what I wanted to see.

Alexis: You've been through a lot. I'm well aware of that.

Lucky: Hmm. I just keep losing everybody I love. Who knows where the hell my dad is? And whether he's with my mom or not, she won't even know he's there. At least before when -- Nikolas and I, we could just help each other. But now he's gone, too.

Ric: You know, I don't know what you said to Lucky to cause that turnaround today.

Alexis: I bet this is a difficult concept for you to grasp, but perhaps he saw value in the truth and realized that your theory about what Skye had done was nothing --

Ric: No, no, you know what? You got in a blow today.

Alexis: Thank you for noticing.

Ric: But in the end, Lucky’s opinion is irrelevant. The only thing that really matters is what the jury decides, and I’ll get them back at close.

Alexis: We'll see.

Emily: Where is everybody?

Alexis: I was wondering what happened to you.

Emily: Yeah, I didn't want to watch Lucky bury Skye with his testimony.

Alexis: That's not what happened at all. He came through for Skye, and if she avoids a conviction, she has him to thank for it.

Emily: Oh, God, I’m glad he found it in his heart to help.

Alexis: Maybe we should return the favor.

Emily: What do you mean?

Alexis: Lucky is more upset about Nikolas than he has let on. Maybe you should tell him that his brother's alive.
