"Nikolas is still alive"

Ric: You're afraid of yourself. You're afraid that you're going to lose control -- that's why you won't kiss me.

Alexis: You think I'm trying to avoid being swept away by my passion for you?

Ric: Oh, no, I never said that. But you act like it's not even a possibility. I mean, do you remember the other night?

Alexis: When you took advantage of me after I had 11 glasses of wine?

Ric: Technically, you took advantage of me.

Alexis: I feel no passion for you.

Ric: Oh.

Alexis: I have no attraction for you. That kiss meant absolutely nothing to me, and since you have the emotional I.Q. of a simian, I will be happy to demonstrate. Watch and learn. (Kisses) Nothing. I am completely indifferent.

Ric: Why don't we try it one more time -- just to make sure?

Alexis: Not going to happen.

Ric: All right. Guess you're right -- it's a bad idea.

Alexis: No snappy one-liner, no well-aimed barb?

Ric: Afraid I’m barbless.

Alexis: Really?

Ric: For the first time in my life, I don't think I have anything to say.

Alexis: No kidding?

Ric: Yeah, I can see you're very disappointed about that.

Alexis: Not at all. I can see that you have something up your sleeve. By acting like this meant anything at all to you means that you have an agenda.

Ric: Well, there it is -- you found me out, huh? Now that we got everything out in the open, I guess it's ok for me to come in and have a nightcap.

Alexis: No, it is not ok for you to walk into my house uninvited. I have work to do.

Ric: Really? At this hour?

Alexis: It's a family matter.

Ric: Oh, come on, Alexis. You're going to have to come up with a much better excuse than that.

Alexis: No, I don’t. Night, Ric.

Ric: Good night.

Alexis: Thanks for coming. I wanted you to know that the bulk of the Cassadine estate is going to revert to Helena. She's challenging Nikolas' will and she's got a very strong case.

Emily: Maybe not.

Alexis: She blames you, she blames me, she blames everybody for what happened to Nikolas and she's going to wreak havoc if she gets her --

Emily: Helena won't be blaming anyone.

Alexis: She doesn't have to be justified, Emily, to do this, you know.

Emily: Alexis --

Alexis: She's not --

Emily: Alexis?

Alexis: What?

Emily: Nikolas is still alive.

Emily: I saw Nikolas at Las Rocas. I could hardly believe my eyes.

Alexis: What happened?

Emily: Nikolas wandered away from the accident like we thought. He must have hurt his head because he woke up unable to remember a thing.

Alexis: He woke up where?

Emily: In the house of a woman named Mary Bishop. She's a widow. Her husband, Connor, was a marine. He died in Iraq and she was devastated. Mary told Nikolas that he was her husband, Connor. She claims that he deserted the marines so he could return to her.

Alexis: So, in effect, he was kidnapped.

Emily: Well, he doesn't know that. I mean, Nikolas is perfectly happy. He's told me all about Mary and his love for her, how wonderful she's been. I mean, they were in Mexico to renew their wedding vows.

Alexis: What? He -- he married her?

Emily: Yeah, as Connor Bishop.

Alexis: Emily, you actually sound sympathetic for this delusional woman.

Emily: I am furious, Alexis, but at the same time, I mean, I understand how pain works. I mean, the grief and the emptiness are always with you, you know, and when Mary saw Nikolas and he couldn't remember, I mean, she -- it probably seemed like a blessing, you know, like a one-in-a-million chance to replace what she'd lost. I mean, think about how overwhelming her pain must be for her to create such a fantasy. God.

Alexis: Think about Nikolas. Emily, does -- does he remember anything about his previous life?

Emily: No. But he has skills and experiences that don't fit with what Mary’s told him about Connor. I mean, speaking Spanish, remembering parts of his wedding vows to me as he was saying them to her.

Alexis: You need to tell Nikolas the truth.

Emily: I watched my family drive Jason away. I don't want that to happen to Nikolas. If he remembers, he needs to do it in his own time in his own way.

Alexis: There is no time. There's no time, Emily, because Helena is hell-bent on trying to regain control of the Cassadine estate. I need to tell her that Nikolas is alive.

Emily: No, Alexis. You can't say a word.

Emily: Jason's been through this. He warned me not to pressure Nikolas or it could drive him away.

Alexis: I realize that you love your brother, but in this --

Emily: But Nikolas is happy. What right do we have to confront him with a life that he doesn't remember?

Alexis: Because it might trigger some memories.

Emily: Or it could alienate him forever, Alexis.

Alexis: I think it's worth the risk.

Emily: Not to me. Look, Nikolas and I are starting to become friends. He feels safe with me. If I told him the truth, he might look at me as some sort of an interloper, like a woman from his past who's now standing between him and Mary, and he could resent me, Alexis. I --

Alexis: I find that extremely unlikely.

Emily: You know what? You didn't know Jason before the accident. He loved my family. Now he can't stand to be in the same room with them because they wanted too much. They tried to force him to be who he was before. I won't do that to Nikolas. He needs to come back in his own time, in his own way.

Alexis: Even if Nikolas thinks that he's happy, what about you, Emily? I don't understand how you can be so patient and understanding no matter how grief-stricken you think this woman is. She married the man you happen to love.

Emily: Well, maybe Nikolas is better off. I mean, how do I know that it's not selfish to take him away from his new life?

Alexis: Keep in mind that if he does not regain his memory, he's not going to have a life, because Helena’s going to gain control of the Cassadine estate, which means his money and his future.

Alexis finds Ric's keys on her floor.

At The Cellar, Ric cooks up a plan to have the bartender answer his phone when Alexis calls to tell him about the keys.

Bartender: We're closed.

Ric: Well, this won't take a minute. Ahem.

Bartender: What's your pleasure?

Ric: Ooh, I don't want a drink. I was wondering if you could do me a favor.

Alexis calls him about the keys and the bartender answers.

Bartender: Hello?

She hands the phone to Ric.

Ric: Hello? Hello?

Alexis hangs up, walks over to the balcony, and throws the keys off.

Bartender: What was that about?

Ric: Oh, sometimes you just got to know the right buttons to push.
