"Are
You Claustrophobic?"
On
the docks.
Sam:
I am really glad you could have breakfast with me.
Sonny:
It'd be better if we were having it in bed.
Sam:
Oh, yeah? Are you flirting with me?
Sonny:
Uh, am I? No. Maybe a little bit, I don't know. Hey, listen, you
know what? Once this custody hearing's over and things settle down,
I'll be able to spend a little more time with you. I'm kind of looking
forward to it.
Sam:
So am I.
Sonny:
Maybe, I don't know, I shouldn't be doing this right now, but I
don't know.
Alexis:
How fortuitous. I was just going to a process server to have
him track you down, and now I can save the taxpayers their money.
There, you're served. You're going to be testifying in a custody
hearing.
Sonny: What is your point in putting Sam on the stand? She's
had minimal contact with my children. She can't comment on my fitness
as a parent or Carlys.
Alexis:
She's your lover. That makes her relationship with you germane to
this case.
Sonny:
I don't understand. What is going on with you? You hate Carly,
but you're defending her. You're going out of your way to antagonize
me.
Alexis:
I'm doing the job that Carlys paying me to do.
Sonny:
Oh, is this -- what, is this all because we had a connection once?
Well, let me tell you something, I will treat you like anybody else
who has wronged me. But I got an advantage because I know your weaknesses.
And I will break you, Alexis.
Alexis:
This conversation is moot. The judge already signed the subpoena.
Be prepared to testify today.
Alexis
leaves.
Sam:
Ok --
Sonny:
Let me see that, let me see that.
Sam:
You and Alexis had a former connection? What was that all about?
Wait, wait, I'm not allowed to ask, right?
Sonny:
No, no, that's fine, that's fine. Alexis used to be my lawyer.
I considered her a friend and we slept together one night, and ever
since that happened, nothing's been the same.
Sam:
So you and Carly almost divorced?
Sonny:
We got as far as filing the papers, and then we got them pulled.
Sam:
Well, if it happened once, it could happen again.
Sonny:
Well, the first time, Carly and I couldn't move on. This time it's
already done.
Sam:
Where does Alexis fit in?
Sonny:
Well, like I said, you know, she was my attorney. We used to hang
out after work and, you know, I mean, flirt a little bit, but no
big deal, you know.
Sam:
Oh, come on, Sonny, obviously, it went a little further than that.
Sonny:
No, no, not really. I mean, one night, we -- we had sex, and that
was pretty much the end of the story. But Alexis, I think, was hoping
for more, and she got her feelings hurt. But after that, she turned
against me. I think it had to do -- her sister died in an explosion
that was meant for me, and after that, it was over. She hated me
ever since.
In
the courtroom. Sam is testifying.
Sam:
I slammed on my brakes and Sonny pulled me out of my car.
Alexis:
Did he have a gun?
Sam:
Yes, but I never felt like my life was in danger. He just -- he
wanted to get away, and he made that very clear to me.
Alexis:
How long have you and Mr. Corinthos been sleeping together?
Sam:
Since mid-January.
Alexis:
Has Mr. Corinthos ever paid you for sex?
Sam:
Excuse me?
Justus:
Objection, your honor.
Alexis:
Your honor, I have proof that Ms. McCall worked as a prostitute
on more than one occasion.
Judge:
I'll allow it.
Alexis:
Has Mr. Corinthos ever paid you for sex?
Sam:
Absolutely not!
Alexis:
Let's see what we've got here. According to your criminal record,
you pleaded no contest to solicitation two years ago in Texas.
Sam:
The cops were lying. They were just looking --
Alexis:
It's a "yes" or "no" question, Ms. McCall.
Sam:
Yes.
Alexis:
Thank you. I also see entered pleas of no contest to multiple counts
of petty theft and fraud in several states. You have a history of
bad debt and you were charged with 19 counts of grand auto theft.
Sam:
I was never convicted.
Alexis:
Right, because the charges were dropped in exchange for your
testimony against the leader of the grand theft auto ring, who was
your boyfriend at the time. Isn't that correct?
Sam:
I was 18 and he was 27. He lied to me and he used me, so I agreed
to testify against him. What does any of this have to do with Sonny
losing custody of his kids?
Alexis:
Ms. McCall has Mr. Corinthos ever introduced you to his children
or allowed you to spend any time with them? Would you like a tissue,
Ms. McCall?
Sam:
No, I'm fine.
Alexis:
Would you like a glass of water?
Sam:
I said Im fine, thank you.
Alexis:
Good, then answer the question, please. Has Mr. Corinthos allowed
you to have contact with his children?
Sam:
I've met Michael, briefly.
Alexis:
When was the last time that you were in Mr. Corinthos' home?
Sam:
Last night.
Alexis:
Was Michael there?
Sam:
Yes.
Alexis:
Was Morgan there?
Sam:
I assume he was up--
Alexis:
You assume he was upstairs? Where else would a baby in diapers
be, Ms. McCall, taking a stroll on the waterfront?
Justus:
Objection, your honor!
Judge:
Sustained.
Alexis:
Were both of Mr. Corinthos' sons in the penthouse when you visited
last night?
Sam:
Yes.
Alexis:
Nothing further.
Justus:
I have only two questions for you, Ms. McCall. Did Mr. Corinthos
ever ask you to be a part of his boys' lives, to take on a maternal
role?
Sam:
Never.
Justus:
Did you ever tell Mr. Corinthos that you'd been arrested for
solicitation or any other crime?
Sam:
No, I did not.
Justus:
Thank you.
Judge:
Ms. McCall, you may step down.
Justus:
No eye contact. Don't look at her if she walks by -- nothing.
Justus:
Men fall in love with married women all the time, but you've gone
to an extreme, Mr. Alcazar. You kidnapped Mrs. Corinthos. You sent
her gifts even though she made it clear they weren't welcome. You
stalked her, despite her repeated protests against it. Breaking
up Mrs. Corinthos' marriage became the sole focus of your life.
Do you consider this normal behavior?
Alexis:
Oh, objection. Your honor, Mr. Ward's views on normalcy, however
fascinating, have absolutely no bearing on this case. Why did you
want to break up my client's marriage, Mr. Alcazar?
Lorenzo:
I was concerned for Carlys safety. I saw an amazing woman
trapped in an abusive marriage and went to extreme lengths to end
it. Carly's life was at risk every single day she was with him.
Alexis:
Because of outside forces?
Lorenzo:
Because of her husband. Sonny's jealous; prone to fits of rage.
I wanted Carly away from him.
Alexis:
Do you feel that your fears were justified?
Lorenzo:
I think the record speaks for itself. The man shot me while I was
trying to deliver his child and the bullet went into his own wife's
head.
Sonny:
Michael has lived with me since he was 2 years old. He's as much
my son as Morgan.
Justus:
You adopted Michael, is that correct?
Sonny:
I was honored to. He's an exceptional little boy.
Justus:
Why don't you tell the court about your relationship with your boys?
Sonny:
They're, you know -- they're my heart. I mean, they're the greatest
children in the world. There's nothing I wouldn't do for either
of them.
Justus:
Do you consider Michael and Morgan safe while they're in your
care?
Sonny:
I have guards at my door the majority of the time, I have a state-of-the-art
security system, and I have bulletproof windows.
Justus:
You also live in a penthouse, don't you?
Sonny:
That's just for extra precaution.
Justus:
I have no further questions, your honor.
Alexis:
Isn't it true that you detonated a bomb in your penthouse?
Alexis:
Lily Rivera-Corinthos was your first wife?
Sonny:
Yeah.
Alexis:
How did she die?
Sonny:
She died in a car bomb.
Alexis:
Meant for you?
Sonny:
Yep.
Alexis:
Was she pregnant at the time?
Sonny:
Yeah.
Alexis:
Prior to your first marriage, were you living with a woman named
Brenda Barrett?
Sonny:
Yes.
Alexis:
So is it safe to conclude that people around you are often the target
of violence?
Sonny:
If you're referring to my sons, like I testified, I do everything
I can to make sure they are safe.
Alexis:
What about the danger they face from you, Mr. Corinthos?
Sonny:
What are you talking about?
Alexis:
Are you claustrophobic? (He
looks shocked she would actually ask him this) Would you like
me to repeat the question?
Sonny:
No, that's not necessary. Uh -- uh, I don't like enclosed spaces.
Alexis:
Any particular reason?
Sonny:
I don't know.
Alexis:
Is it true that you were locked in a closet and beaten by your stepfather
when you were a small child and that those beatings have caused
lasting psychological damage?
Justus:
Objection, your honor.
Alexis:
And that --
Justus:
Objection!
Alexis:
You're subject to mood swings --
Carly:
Alexis, stop it! Leave him alone!
