"Welcome to the Sewer, Counselor."

In the courtroom, by themselves

Justus: You know, our clients can't seem to be too rational, but that doesn't mean a couple of professionals can't pick up the slack.

Alexis: What do you have in mind?

Justus: Sonny and Carly are too emotionally involved. If they're not careful, they could emote those boys straight into foster care. I don't want to see that happen. And I'm sure as a mother you're not crazy about the idea, either.

Alexis: I care very much about what happens to those children. I would certainly like to see another option.

Justus: I may have a way to mitigate some of the potential damages. I'd be willing to drop some of the most damaging information I have on Carly, if you'll agree to do the same for Sonny.

Alexis: My client has made it very clear she wants to win custody, and she's determined to do whatever it takes. Welcome to the sewer, counselor.

Alexis starts to leave the courtroom when Justus starts to speak.

Justus: Last chance to change your mind, counselor. Once that bell rings, there's no unringing it.

Alexis: Justus, my client is clear -- she wants to win.

Justus: Oh, so does Sonny, and he's prepared to annihilate Carly to get it. We've got plenty of ammunition.

Alexis: You aren't really going to sit there and act like your client is citizen of the year, are you? He's a criminal, for god's sake. He has no business inflicting that kind of lifestyle on innocent children, especially without a mother around to counteract that. I am not going to make deals with you under the table, Justus. Sonny is not fit to be a parent, and I intend to prove that so much so that I'm hoping the judge will be begging Carly to take the children.

Justus: It almost sounds like you have a personal stake in this.

Alexis: Excuse me, I need to find my client.

Alexis leaves.

In the courthouse lobby area.

Sonny: (to Justus) What's Lansing doing here?

Justus: You may choose to ignore the fact that he's your brother, but the court won't. Lansing's on Alexis' witness list. I spoke to her earlier. She's willing to prove the fact that you aren't fit, and she's not willing to back off.

Sonny: Doesn't surprise me.

Justus: Sonny, why do I get the impression this is personal?

Sonny: Well, because Alexis hates me for whatever reason. I don't -- Alexis -- hey -- there's still a chance you can, you know, not go through with a case that you're not going to win anyway.

Alexis: I don't happen to agree.

Sonny: You're smart, right? I mean, at least you used to be. It's better to have Carly mad at you than me.

Alexis: Counselor, would you kindly ask your client to stop harassing me before I press charges of my own?

Alexis walks away.

Sonny: Alexis is out for blood.

In the courtroom. Ric is testifying.

Alexis: Mr. Lansing, how are you related to Mr. Corinthos?

Ric: He's my brother.

Alexis: Are you close?

Ric: No, Sonny and I are not close.

Alexis: Are you testifying today out of a personal vendetta?

Ric: No, I'm here to tell the truth as I see it.

Alexis: Have you had any professional interaction with Mr. Corinthos?

Ric: He's been arrested a few times.

Justus: Objection, your honor. Irrelevant. Mr. Corinthos has never been convicted.

Judge: Sustained. Move along, Ms. Davis.

Alexis: Do you have an opinion as to which parent is best suited to raise Michael and Morgan Corinthos?

Ric: Yes, I do.

Alexis: And what would that be, Mr. Lansing?

Ric: I know Mrs. Corinthos loves both of her sons, but I don't believe her to be a more suitable parent than Sonny. I think it's in the best interest of both of her children if they share joint custody.

Alexis: Thank you. That'll be all, Mr. Lansing.

Judge: Just a moment, Ms. Davis. You called Mr. Lansing. I'd like to hear what he has to say.

Ric: My brother has a difficult background. He tends to be a little overprotective, but I believe he's a very loving father who has both of his sons' best interests at heart, and I think it would be a terrible disservice if Michael and Morgan --

Carly: You lying piece of scum!

[Judge pounds gavel]

Judge: Mrs. Corinthos, you are out of order. Take your seat and remain silent!

Carly: Ric never should've testified. I don't know why I listened to you. I mean, who should know better what a wack job he is than me? He kidnapped me, he locked me in a panic room, for God's sake.

Alexis: I have no idea what triggered that sudden turnabout. He did all that because he hated Sonny. Did they have some sort of reconciliation that you neglected to mention to me?

Carly: Well, as you know, I have not been living with him as of late, but I seriously doubt it. You be honest with me. You tell me how much damage Ric just did to us.

Alexis: His testimony wasn't nearly as bad as your outburst. I'm trying to make Sonny look outrageous and unstable, not you. You need to talk about his breakdowns.

Carly: No, I told you that is not an option. Courtney -- she's scheduled to testify next, then Jason. They will support me.

Alexis: Where is she anyway? I haven't seen her.

Carly: She'll be here. (Just then, Lorenzo walks in) Oh, God, I don't believe this.

Alexis: (turns and sees Lorenzo) This isn't good, Carly.

Carly: (to Lorenzo) I asked you not to be here.

Lorenzo: I didn't have a choice. I was subpoenaed by Sonny.

Walker: The hearing's about to resume. Everyone, take your seats.

Judge: Who's your next witness, Ms. Davis?

Alexis: Courtney Morgan, but she doesn't seem to be present.

Faith walks in.

Judge: Is this Mrs. Morgan? (referring to Faith)

Alexis: No, your honor. I have no idea what happened to her.
