26, 2004 Transcript Nikolas: You're representing Carly because of Kristina? Why? What's the connection? I don't -- Alexis: You know that I don't like her. It's just that I understand what she's going through. I mean, if Sonny tried to take Kristina away from me, I'd -- Nikolas: Sonny -- why would he do that? Alexis: I'm not making myself clear. Sonny has no interest in taking Kristina from me. It's I just understand what Carly is going through. Nikolas: And you're the only one who can help? Alexis: I owe her. She saved my life in the fire. Nikolas: Alexis, under any other circumstances, I'd admire your principles, but I'm more concerned right now with getting myself acquitted for murder. You're the best lawyer I know. If you can't defend me, who will? Nikolas: Ric lansing has a strong case against me, Alexis. I mean, come on, I -- I admitted to fighting with Zander and locking him in that utility room. Alexis: You had no way of knowing that the building would burn down. Nikolas: I need a good lawyer. Alexis: And I have a very good one lined up for you. And I promise if the trial looks like it's going against you, I will stop consulting and I will step up to first counsel. Nikolas: Good to know. Alexis: The truth is, is I shouldn't be your first choice for a lawyer anyway because there's a conflict of interest because of my relationship with Zander. Nikolas: Uh -- all right. All right, I guess i'll just have to take your word for it, then. Alexis: We will get you out of this, I promise. Alexis and Carly are strategizing at Carly's house. They are both sitting on the couch. Alexis: Sonny's first wife was killed in a car bomb while pregnant. So this is public record, it's amissible. Carly: Do we have to use Lily? Alexis: It's going to go a long way in showing that children are not safe around sonny. We are also going to have to deal with the fact that Sonny is emotionally unstable -- Carly: You're not bringing up the breakdowns. Alexis: Excuse me? Carly: You're not going to have to. Alexis: You and I have a deal, and the deal is, is if I don't win this case, you're going to tell Sonny that he's kristina's father. Justus ward happens to be an excellent trial attorney, and I can't beat him if I have to keep tripping over you. Carly: Well, Jason and Courtney are going to support me. They're going to say that I deserve sole custody, and that should be enough, right? Alexis: Are you sure that Jason's going to testify for you? I understand that he has inexplicable fondness for you, but I also happen to know that he is completely loyal to Sonny. Carly: Yeah, well, Jason understands what's at stake, and he is going to say that the kids belong with me. Alexis: Did Jason agree to testify against Sonny? Carly: No, of course not. And he is never going to say anything bad about Sonny, so don't try and make him. What he will do is tell the court that the children belong with their mother. Alexis: And you know this how? Carly: Because I spoke with him. Listen, Jason pretended to be Michael's father so A.J. couldn't take him. He will do anything that he can to protect the people he loves. Alexis: Jason's testimony will be helpful, but we still need to prove that sonny is unfit. We need a judge to see the truth that sonny's life is too dangerous for any child. And the way that we're going to -- [phone rings] Alexis: Alexis Davis. Yes, Judge Marland. I understand. Yes, we'll cooperate fully. Carly: What do you mean, "cooperate"?
