"You Need to Know that I Intend to Win this Case"

Alexis: I assumed that you wouldn't want Sonny to know that he is Kristina’s father.

Carly: I wouldn't if I thought that Sonny and I could save our marriage, but I know that we can't. I need a good lawyer, Alexis, or I’m going to lose my kids. So you tell me, what is it going to be? Do you want to help me keep my kids away from Sonny, or do you want to teach Kristina to call Sonny "daddy"?

Alexis: You're capitalizing on a moment of shared weakness, Carly.

Carly: I had no idea that Sonny was Kristina’s father until you made a point of telling me.

Alexis: I thought I was going to die.

Carly: Well, you didn't, and now it's going to cost you.

Alexis: Carly, if you tell him that he's Kristina’s father, he's going to take her away from me.

Carly: Well, I would rather that he take away your daughter than my sons.

Alexis: With all of Alcazar's money, you could pick whatever competent custody attorney that you can find. Why are you going to the trouble of blackmailing me?

Carly: Because you have the most to lose. Besides, you were Sonny's attorney once and you know how he works. You can push his buttons, and you better discredit him before he does it to me.

Alexis: You and Sonny will look equally unfit to any competent jurist.

Carly: Oh, no, no, no, because you're going to make me look so good. Otherwise, you're going to lose your daughter. Make your choice, Alexis.

Alexis: I apparently don't have a choice, do I? If I do this, there are conditions.

Carly: Don't you worry. I will pay you every billable hour.

Alexis: That's good, because I'm going to charge you a fortune. From this point on, I dictate strategy, and from this point on, you do as I say. You squelch any desire or impulse you have to do anything reactionary. No tantrums, no stunts, no arguments. Is that clear?

Carly: Done. So what is our first move?

Alexis: You're not going to like it.

Alexis arrives at Sonny's Penthouse. Jason opens the door.

Jason: This is a bad time.

Alexis: I'm here in regards to Sonny's children.

Sonny: Children? Since when do you have anything to do with my children?

Alexis: Carly has retained me as her attorney. She wants me to get her full custody of her children.

Alexis: I am certain that your lawyer has informed you that the courts tend to favor a mother in cases like this.

Sonny: My children stay with me, Alexis.

Alexis: Family court differs substantially from your so-called business. For one thing, a judge is not obligated to do what you tell him.

Sonny: Why are you here, Alexis?

Alexis: To make you an offer. Carly is willing to keep this out of court if the two of you can negotiate some sort of agreement for shared custody.

Sonny: Not interested.

Alexis: It's a reasonable -- more than reasonable offer.

Sonny: I'm not going to be separated from my children, especially when there's even a slight chance that her kidnapping boyfriend could be anywhere near them. My children stay with me. The mother's not even a consideration.

Alexis: I'll tell her that you rejected the offer. You need to know that I intend to win this case. So either you compromise or you're at risk of losing your children completely.
