"He Tried to help you Because He Was
In Love with You"
Wyndemere.
Helena is holding a framed photo of Nikolas and mouning his "death."
Coleman:
Helena Cassadine.
Helena:
How did you get in here? You're intruding on a private moment.
Coleman:
Ah, don't wet your pants. I found something I think might be of
interest to you -- the treasure that they auctioned off last night
when the hotel caught fire?
Helena:
You have my grandson's treasure?
Coleman:
Look, here's the deal -- I'm here to sell it back to you, ok? I
thought it might be of some sentimental value.
Helena:
(crosses her arms) First, prove you have it.
Coleman:
You recognize that? (holds out a ring) Huh?
Helena:
(takes it and looks at it) I'll give you $100,000.
Coleman:
That seems a little skimpy.
Helena:
200,000, and I'll also let you live.
Coleman:
200 grand works for me. (places the ring on Helena's finger)
Hmm. Tight fit.
Helena:
Bring the rest of the treasure here tonight.
Coleman:
Oh, I'll see you at 9:00 tonight.
Helena:
Mister --
Coleman:
Oh, it's just Coleman, kind of like Cher.
Helena:
Coleman? How would you like to double your finder's fee?
Coleman:
Well, that depends on what you want me to do.
Helena:
I want you to kill Edward Quartermaine.
Alexis:
(walking into the room, having just heard the last comment)
You'll have to kill me first.
Alexis:
If you so much as enter General Hospital, let alone the I.C.U.,
I will have you arrested for attempted murder.
Coleman:
Chill. I'm not going to kill anybody. I'm a lover, not a fighter.
Coleman
leaves.
Helena:
You don't belong here.
Alexis:
You are so predictable. As soon as there's death and destruction,
there you are in the middle of it, foaming at the mouth.
Helena:
It's called revenge. Edward Quartermaine practically murdered my
grandson.
Alexis:
I can assure you Nikolas doesn't want you to avenge him.
Helena:
That's why you've never been a true Cassadine. Family means nothing
to you.
Alexis:
(she keeps getting closer and closer to Helena, more and more
"in her face") Nikolas means something to me. He's
the only one with honor. He's the only who would stand up to his
father, to Stefan, and to you.
Helena:
Get out.
Alexis:
I'm afraid you'll have to leave, because from now on I'm running
this family.
General
Hospital. Alexis meets Luke in one of the lobbies. He is sitting.
Alexis:
Sorry I'm late. Thank you for meeting me here.
Luke:
Well, sure. (he stands) Cameron was a friend. I owe him this
much.
Alexis:
Well, you didn't exactly welcome his help.
Luke:
Well, neither did you, as I recall.
Alexis:
You and I are beyond help, and I admittedly don't do well accepting
it.
Luke:
I think he came close to figuring out what makes you tick, and it
scared the hell out of you.
Alexis:
Did he tell you that?
Luke:
No. Just a wild guess. He could be an annoying nag, but he was damn
good at what he did.
Alexis:
Yes, he was.
Luke:
So are you ready to do this?
Alexis:
No, but someone has to identify Cameron's body, and you and I are
all he has left.
Inside
the chapel at General Hospital. It's a sort of Memorial Service
for Cameron, but Luke and Alexis are the only ones present.
Luke:
Are we waiting for something?
Alexis:
I was kind of hoping Zander might walk through the door.
Luke:
Natasha, Zander is either dead or he used the fire as a cover for
his escape.
Alexis:
Cameron insisted on calling him Alexander all the time. I don't
know what the hell was wrong with both of them, quite frankly. They
loved each other very much. They just didn't tell each other that.
I don't know what they were waiting for. It used to make me want
to tear my hair out, they were both so stubborn. They did come close,
every now and then, to connecting the way a father and son should
connect, but they didn't do it.
Luke:
I understand that.
Alexis:
I don't get this. I don't get -- I don't get this. I don't get how
somebody who dedicated his life to helping other people would end
up all alone.
Luke:
Well, it's easy. He worked on it.
Alexis:
At first, I didn't understand his obsession with helping me with
my daughter, but I know that it's because he didn't want me to be
without my daughter any more than he ever wanted to be without his
son.
Luke:
You're kidding yourself. He tried to help you because he was in
love with you.
Alexis:
What are you going to do?
Luke
stands up.
Luke:
Cameron was a good man. He deserves at least an attempt at a decent
memorial. Hi. It's me. Lucas Lorenzo Spencer. Well, what can you
say about Cameron Lewis except that he was as crazy as most of his
patients? Which is probably why he was a good doctor. He -- he was
an honest man, and he told it like it was. He'd been to some dark
places in himself, and he wasn't afraid of those places in other
people. He knew what made seemingly intelligent people trash their
own lives. Dr. Lewis died saving my son, probably because he couldn't
save his own. He made mistakes, like everybody, but he did what
he could to fix what he had broken. He was a good man, an honest
man. I don't really believe that the dead can hear me or see me.
But just in case I'm wrong, thanks, Cameron. You were a good friend.
Alexis
stands up and gives Luke a kiss on the mouth and then leaves.
