"Lipstick Kisses"
Alexis
is at Wyndemere going over papers with Nikolas.
Nikolas:
Be honest. How bad is it?
Alexis:
I know that I promised you that I would consult on this financial
crisis, but I am having a hell of a time getting my head in this.
Nikolas:
I'm sorry. I shouldn't be dragging you into this. It's not like
you don't have problems of your own.
Alexis:
Nikolas, I know that you're in charge of the family now, but why
don't you call Stefan and ask him to consult. I'm sure he'd be happy
to help if you call him.
Nikolas:
I have called him repeatedly and left him dozens of messages, and
he never calls back. I'm starting to get worried.
A.J.
is mounting a video camera on a picture frame in the Quartermaine
living room as Skye looks on.
Skye:
Can't you go any faster?
A.J.:
I'm doing the best I can.
Skye:
Do you think it's going to work?
A.J.:
Borderline brilliant.
Skye:
Alexis makes adults uncomfortable with her high-strung neuroses.
God only knows what effect she has on that baby.
A.J.:
Right, and you're the model of tranquility.
Skye:
Well, at least I'm not certifiably insane. Kristina knows me. Alexis
is a virtual stranger to that child.
Skye
turns toward the door startled when she hears the front door close
in the foyer.
(Camera
switches to Ned in the foyer)
Ned:
Let's go see if we can find Skye, shall we? See if she's in the
living room.
Skye
and A.J. quickly move from the wall. A.J. dives under a table behind
the couch and hides just as Ned walks in with the pram.
Skye:
Oh, well, there she is, you little pumpkin. Did daddy take you for
a walk?
Ned:
She loves walking through the rose garden. I think it's fast becoming
her favorite flower.
Skye:
Well, we are next going to have to introduce her to Casablanca lilies.
A.J.
slips out of the French doors unseen.
Ned:
Oh. So you're developing her tastes for the more expensive things
in life, huh?
Skye:
Well, it's the least a Princess Brat deserves.
Ned:
Hey, maybe the -- the three of us can spend some time together after
Alexis' visit.
Skye:
(Smiles) Yeah, if she ever gets here.
Skye
and Ned coo over the baby in the pram just as Alexis appears in
the doorway.
Ned:
Sweet little girl. You're just so sweet.
Alexis
gently knocks on the open door to let them know she's there.
Ned:
Hey.
Skye:
Oh, Alexis. We were just wondering when you were --
Ned:
You're late again.
Alexis:
Barely, but I'm here now. (She fusses over the baby) Hi! Hi, baby!
Hi, baby. (Picks her up) Oh, my gosh. (Sniffs in the baby
scene)
Alexis:
Come here. You smell like flowers. um, yum. Did someone take you
out in the garden? Huh? (Walks across the room away from Ned
and Skye) Hello, sweetheart. Ooh. Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh.
Skye:
(Whispers to Ned) You know, maybe we should give them some
time alone.
Kristina
coughs.
Ned:
Since when do you want to leave Alexis alone with Kristina?
Alexis:
Am I allowed to step out on the terrace with her, or would that
be considered erratic behavior?
Ned:
Well, actually, we just got back from a long walk. It might be better
that she -- you know, she stay inside.
Alexis:
Got it -- erratic.
Skye:
You're right. I am worried about leaving Alexis alone with Kistina.
But the most important person in the world right now is that little
girl, and you know how sensitive and aware she is. I don't -- I
don't want her to feel any tension among the grownups.
Ned:
You might be right there.
Skye:
Right. Like it or not, Alexis is Kristina's mother, and their time
together should be pleasurable. So we should be big enough to give
them some ample room. All right?
Ned:
That's a good idea.
Skye:
Ok.
Alexis
smiles as Ned and Skye leave the room.
Alexis:
I love you so much. I do. (Plays nosy with the baby) Whoo,
nose. (Kisses her forehead) Lipstick
kiss. (Wipes off the lipstick from her head) You
know that mommy would do back handsprings down main street to be
with you. Actually, you have no idea the lengths mommy has gone
to to be with you.
Alexis,
dressed as Dobson, rolls the pram into the living room with Alice
following behind her.
Alice:
You know, the baby was so over stimulated after her mother left
that I thought a nice stroll around would just be perfect to tire
her out before dinner.
Alexis:
(As Dobson) Good. Why don't you heat the bottle and I'll
watch the little one.
Alice:
You know, I think it's wonderful the way you love children.
Alice
walks out and looks at Dobson with devotion.
Alexis
waits for the sound of the door closing.
She
rushes up to the baby.
Alexis:
(In her normal voice) Hello, sweet pea. (The baby coos)
Hello, sweet pea.
(Camera
switches to the foyer)
A.J.
walks in the front door.
Skye:
A.J., did you get the tape?
A.J.:
There's been so much traffic in and out of the living room, I haven't
had a chance to get to it. But it may be useless. You haven't heard
the baby cry, have you?
Skye:
No.
A.J.:
Neither have I. And obviously no one else has or they would've come
running. Look, this may be a great way to make Alexis look bad,
but you might want to come up with another plan.
(Camera
switches back to the living room and shows the camera perched on
the picture frame)
Alexis
giggles with the baby.
Alexis:
Does it tickle? You know what? It itches mommy. It really does.
Take that off.(She pulls the mustache off her face) Oh, oh
-- just for a second. Watch it.
She
slaps it on her lapel.
Alexis:
We'll put it right there. We're going to be laughing about this
years from now when I tell you why mommy had to dress up as an English
butler so that I could spend more time with you.
