"Alexis, You Got Some 'Splainin to Do"
Alexis
stops Alice's hand from creeping any higher up her thigh.
Alexis:
(As Dobson) If I misled you in any way, I -- I do apologize.
Alexis
gets up from the couch quickly. Alice pulls her back down.
Alice:
Open your mind to the possibilities.
Alexis:
There are no possibilities. (She gets back up slowly) Really.
Truly.
Alexis
walks around the table away from Alice.
Alice:
(Meeting Alexis at the other end of the table) But I'm starting
to dream about you.
Alexis
moves away.
Alexis:
Oh, god, Alice, Alice (They shuffle into table tag with each
other)
Alexis:
(Straightens up) Ms. Gunderson, please, get a hold of yourself.
In my experience, a dalliance with a coworker is a recipe for disaster.
Alice:
(Walks slowly up to Alexis) Don't you like me?
Alexis:
Oh, Alice, of course I like you.
Alice
grabs Alexis by the waist and pulls her close up to her.
Alice:
Well, then just break your policy and let's just do something crazy.
Alice
pulls her back into a dip.
Alexis:
There's someone else.
Alice
lifts her back up standing.
Alexis:
(Bowing her head in mock shame) You don't want me, Alice,
I'm a scarred man. I find myself tragically attracted to criminals.
Preferably
with dark hair, dark eyes. I don't know what it is, but the last
was the worst.
Alice:
(Takes Alexis' hand) Tell me what happened.
They
sit down again.
Alexis:
I tried to change him -- her, but I couldn't and it -- it ended
badly. I was hurt terribly.
Alice
pulls Alexis to her bosom.
Alice:
Oh, you poor man.
Alexis:
(Muffled from deep within Alice's bosom) Alice, I find you
very attractive, I really do -
Alice
lifts Alexis up and she hurls herself backward on the couch and
Alexis gulps air.
Alice:
You're just saying that.
Alexis:
No, I mean it, really. If it weren't for my personal problems, I
would be responding quite differently to you.
Alice:
Well, then -- then don't dwell on the past. You've got to live.
Let me help you feel like a man again.
Alexis:
Oh! No!
Alice
pulls Alexis up on top of her and begins to kiss her neck and grope
her back. Cameron
walks in to find them in the clinch with Alexis struggling wildly
for freedom. .
Cameron:
Ahem.
Alice:
Dr. Lewis!
Alice
throws Alexis off her and Alexis goes flying to the end of the couch.
Alice
sits up straight.
Cameron:
One of the other maids let me in.
Alice:
(Alice and Alexis stand up) This -- this is a private staff
matter, and, um, I hope you're not going to repeat this to anyone.
Cameron:
Alice, wild horses couldn't drag it out of me.
Alice:
Thank you, sir.
Alice
scurries out of the room.
Alexis:
(Hanging her head) Do pardon me, sir.
Cameron:
I'm here to see Skye.
Alexis:
Yes, of course. I'll let her know.
Alexis
heads for the door.
Cameron:
You do that, (pauses) Alexis.
Cameron
smiles as Alexis quickly turns around surprised.
Cameron
and Alexis stare at one another in silence. Just then Skye walks
in.
Skye:
Oh, thank you so much for coming over.
Cameron:
Well, you said it was important.
Skye:
Well, it is, but it needs to be kept in the strictest of confidence.
Cameron:
Well, I can be discreet when the situation warrants. (Glances
over at Alexis)
Skye:
Dobson, who -- who wanted dinner here this evening?
Alexis:
I couldn't say, ma'am.
Skye:
Well, find out. It could be Ned trying to compensate for the dinner
that I arranged that you spoiled.
Alexis
rolls her eyes and walks toward the door.
Skye:
Now, I'd like to speak with you about Alexis.
Alexis
stops at the door and looks at Cameron.
Alexis
walks in and tries to hang around the bookshelf discreetly while
listening in on the conversation.
Skye:
I thought that you had reassigned Alexis' case.
Cameron:
Well, yeah, but I'd still be uncomfortable discussing it.
Skye:
Well, would you at least concede that you have concerns about Alexis'
mental health?
Cameron:
(Looks toward Alexis) More and more every day.
Skye:
(To Dobson) Why are you still here? I told you to leave.
Alexis
grabs a books and walks toward the door.
Alexis:
Mrs. Quartermaine requested a certain book.
Skye:
Well, you can get it later. Now, go. Shut the door behind you. (Alexis
bows slightly and walks out but listens at the door) I have
dealt with some difficult servants in my time, but I'm telling you
that man is the worst, not to mention the most peculiar.
Cameron:
I'd have to agree. Dobson is somewhat unusual.
Skye:
Back to the point. You know how she claims that she loves Kristina
more than anything in the whole world, and yet she can't make the
visits that the court has ordered. I -- I'm telling you, the last
time she was here she had this -- this frantic vibe that I -- I
was expecting her to split off into another personality at any moment.
Cameron:
Given recent events, I can see why you'd be concerned. (Alexis
makes a face)
Skye:
I am so worried about leaving Kristina alone with Alexis. I'm afraid
that she might do something crazier than she already has.
Cameron:
Crazier than burning down a house to facilitate a baby theft? (Alexis
bounces with satisfied glee) Crazier than kidnapping a baby
to pull off a business coup?
Skye:
Look, Alexis is getting worse, not better. Insanity runs in her
family.
Cameron:
Yeah, and the Quartermaines, as well, apparently. (Alexis smiles)
Skye:
Well, no need to worry. I'm not a biological Quartermaine at all.
Cameron:
Well, I wonder what that says about you, Skye, that you'd stay in
an environment this dysfunctional when you're not even a family
member.
Skye:
I like it here. And so does Kristina. In fact, I think it would
be best for Kristina if she were to live here permanently. (Alexis
bristles) So for Kristina's safety and for Alexis' health, I
am urging you to go to Judge Farmer and tell her to rescind Alexis'
visitation rights before she does something that we can't even conceive
of.
Cameron:
Skye, the problem is I don't think Alexis should be kept away from
her daughter.
Skye:
Well, obviously, your concern for the welfare of an innocent child
can't compete with your devotion to Alexis.
Skye
walks toward the door and Cameron seems to think about what she
said.
Skye
opens the door and finds Dobson standing there.
Skye:
Dobson. Do something useful, would you, and kick Mr. Lewis out.
Skye
stomps upstairs.
Alexis
shuts the door. Looking up cowardly and embarrassed from her down-turned
face she walks slowly toward Cameron.
Cameron:
(Imitating Ricky Ricardo) Alexis, you got some 'splainin'
to do.
Alexis:
(In her normal voice) How long have you known?
Cameron:
Day one.
Alexis:
(Rambling) I just want to be near my daughter. I know this
that it seems a little extreme, but I swear to you that everyone
in this house except for Lila is conspiring to cut me out of my
daughter's life, and I'm not even sure about Lila anymore.
Cameron:
Alexis, this is not a viable solution.
Alexis:
(Walking around rambling) But it's working. It is, Cameron.
It's working. Skye -- you know what she did? She said to my face
-- she said to Dobson's face, actually -- she said that she intends
to be Kristina's mother. I'm not kidding. And
you know what her ultimate plan is? She wants to marry Ned. She
even had Judge Farmer come over here so she could lay some groundwork.
(She
steps up to Cameron pleadingly) If I seem desperate, I am. So
I'm all alone in this, really. Please, help me?
Cameron:
If I agreed to that, Alexis, I'd be as crazy as you are.
She
whimpers.
Alexis:
You don't have to help me. Just -- just pretend that you don't know
what I'm doing. Just stay out of it.
Cameron:
God, you're the most maddening woman. I should have my license revoked
for even having this conversation.
Alexis:
(Bounces) Is that a yes?
Cameron:
Oh, this is a bad idea, Alexis. It's doomed to failure. That being
said, I won't stop you from
doing what you feel you have to do to hang on to your daughter.
Alexis:
(She jumps up) Thank you!
Alexis:
(Jumping up into Cameron's arms) Thank you!
She
kisses him and he grabs onto her.
The
camera moves to the right showing the French doors where Zander
appears.
He
looks in the window just as they part from their kiss. They look
at each other and dive in for another kiss - Cameron's hands sliding
tighter around her back.
Zander's
eyes open wide and he presses his face up against the window.
