"Strangers in the Night"

Alexis is holding the baby in the foyer of the Q mansion. Big Alice is supervising the visit.

Alexis: Are you having a good day? I know my day gets better every time I see you. What are you looking at?

Alice flips through a pile of mail and sighs conspicuously.

Alexis: You looking at the pretty candles over there? They're pretty, aren't they? (Alice sighs again) Alice? I know that these visits -- these supervised visits are a little boring for you, but nonetheless --

Alice: (Continues to flip through the mail) Oh, no, the visits are fine. I'm sorry.

Alexis: Ok, good. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I really -

Alice: Jeez. (She rubs her head in frustration)

Alexis: We just have to wait until -- all right, what is it, Alice?

Alice: Men.

Alexis: Oh. (She chuckles and starts to lay the baby in the bassinet) Huh. I hope Alice has better luck with them than mommy did. All right, I'm going to just put you down for a second. (She grabs the baby bottle) I'm going to get you some more water, ok? I'll be right back.

Alexis goes into the living room and pours some water in the bottle. Alice follows her.

Alice: Hey, you've had a lot of experience with guys, haven't you?

Alexis: Arguably.

Alice: I need some advice..

Alexis: Stay away from them.

Alice: No. But what if you meet the right one?

Alexis: Run. Catch a plane, take a bus, flag a semi.

Alice: It's too late for that. I'm trying to figure out, how do I tell him that I'm interested in him?

Alexis: You sure you don't have any other alternative?

Alice: Absolutely.

Alexis: Well, all right, then. Just tell him he's wonderful all the time, make sure he has plenty to eat, and just keep in mind that all a man really wants is a pin-up girl that reminds him of his mother.

Alice: Wow. You make it sound so easy.

Alexis: (Chuckles) So who's the lucky guy?

Alice: You know the new butler? (Her eyes widen excitedly) Dobson.

Alexis: Who needs men anyway, Alice? Listen to me, celebrate your independence.

Alice: Well, I've been independent for a very long time.

Alexis: Oh, no, no, no, you can't be independent for too long. It's good to be unattached, it's good to be free.

Alice: But I'm -- I'm lonely.

Alexis: Take a cruise. Drive-cross country. Or you could join a bicycle club, because those guys look really cute in those little shorts.

Alice: You know, I don't care about that. Everything I need is right here in this house.

Alexis: But Dobson? Alice, I mean, personally, I think he's a little (twitters her fingers in front of her) fussy.

Alice: You know, this morning when I was cleaning the upstairs tub, without even thinking it, I wrote his name in cleanser.

Alexis: (Panicking) Delegate. Get the upstairs maid to wash the tubs. She never does anything anyway.

Alexis steps away.

Alice: Well, how would you know that?

Alexis freezes.

Alexis: (Blurting out nervously) Ned (she hesitates trying to figure out what to say) -- told me. He tells me that all the time. He doesn't like that maid.

Alice: Yeah.

Alexis: He complains about her. And I -- I think that he might complain about you and Dobson.

Alice: Love could get around that.

Alexis: Sit down, Alice. (They both sit down on the couch) You really think Dobson's attractive? Because I don't, I don't. I don't think he's attractive at all, I don't.

Alice: Well --

Alexis: And - and I don't think you know anything about him.

Alice: I know that whenever I think about him, it just sends me to the stars.

Alexis: Don't you wonder how he just sort of popped in here out of nowhere? I mean, he doesn't talk about his past, he doesn't - he doesn't talk about himself.

Alice: Well, that's because he's so unselfish. I mean, he just thinks about everybody else in the house. That's what he thinks about.

Alexis: He could be a criminal. Or mentally unstable.

Alice: Well, nobody's perfect, as you well know, Mrs. Davis.

Just then Cameron walks into the room.

Cameron: Well, where's Dobson? Weeping on the back lawn?

Alice stands up angrily as Alexis buries her face in her hands with embarrassment .

Alice: Hey. What's wrong with a man showing his emotions, having a little heart and not being afraid of his own tears?

Cameron: Alice, are you all right?

Alice: (Steps up to Cameron angrily) Well, if you have to know, Dobson has the morning off. I'm going to go check on the baby.

She glares at Cameron and walks out.

Cameron: Was it something I said?

Alexis: (Jumps up from the chair) Alice (she pauses) is - is having trouble with my supervised visits. (Shakes a finger at Cameron) And I've been to my therapy session, if that's why you're here.

Cameron: I know that. That's not why I'm here. I need your help. Alexander's been arrested for murder.

Alexis: Oh. Does he have a lawyer?

Cameron: Dara Jensen's agreed to take the case, but she's tied up in court for the rest of the day. I heard that Baldwin's threatening to transfer him to Pentonville. He won't even let me see him.

Alexis: Well, he knows better than that.

Cameron: Can you come down to the police station, see what you can do?

Alexis: I just got here, Cameron.

Cameron: My son can't wait.

Scott has Zander and Emily in the interrogation room.

Scott: Your prints are on the murder weapon.

Zander: I told you, John and I struggled for the gun.

Scott: Oh, that's right, you got it away from him, then you shot him right in the back.

Emily: This is completely illegal.

Scott: He's been advised of his rights. Interrogation is standard procedure. Then you get an all-expense-paid trip to prison.

Zander: You got to try me first, and we all know how well you do in that arena.

Scott: You're a high-risk prisoner. You can't make bail. I'm having you transferred today -- security reasons.

Emily: You can't just ship him off to the state penitentiary!

Scott: I can do anything I want. I'm District Attorney. He's a repeat felon. He's got mob connections, got a rich girlfriend. He's got a father who's a doctor who helped Alexis Davis get away with murder. See, that all adds up to high flight risk. (Slaps his hands together) Done with you. Have a nice trip, though.

Scott grins at Emily and walks out.

Emily: I'll get Nikolas down here right away.

Zander: What's -- what's with all this Nikolas all of a sudden?

Emily: He called the other night kind of out of the blue.

Zander: You didn't mention it.

Emily: Yeah, it didn't seem that important, but it is now.

Zander: Well, he wouldn't do it.

Emily: We have to get you out of here, and we don't have much time.

Cameron and Alexis walk into the squad room at the PCPD.

Cameron: Baldwin. Where's my son?

Scott: No visitors.

Cameron: I'm here to take him home.

Scott: Well, he'll probably be paroled in about 20 years.

Alexis: You aren't seriously considering murder charges, are you?

Scott: You're not a lawyer anymore.

Cameron: Of course she is.

Scott: Really? (Saunters up to her) Show me your license.

Alexis: Any good lawyer would know this was an accident, at the very least self-defense -- if Zander was even involved at all.

Scott: Practicing law without a license, I could throw you in jail. I'm sorry, you'd probably prefer a padded cell.

Alexis: I know you don't have evidence, but what you need is liability since you didn't give Zander medical treatment last night.

Scott: Sure, I did. I sent him to the E.R.

Alexis: Hmm. (Turns to Cameron) I don't know, you're his father and you're a medical doctor. Are you concerned?

Cameron: Definitely.

Alexis: And won't you be watching for any secondary infections or any other complications aggravated by incarceration?

Cameron: Absolutely.

Scott: Hmm. You know what, I'll make sure that the prison doctor looks at him.

Alexis: So you're admitting that Zander needed medical attention?

Scott: Sounding like a lawyer again.

Alexis: (Following Scott across the room) I'm not a lawyer. Dara's the lawyer on record. I'm just a concerned citizen who's strongly suggesting that you don't move Zander until he speaks with his attorney.

Emily steps in.

Emily: Alexis is right.

Scott: I don't care! A prison bus is already on its way.

Alexis: (To Cameron) If I were you, I would up those numbers in the liability suit. And then, of course, when the media hears about the exorbitant bail, well, who knows what'll happen.

Scott: I'm not going to be bullied into letting a killer out on the streets. But did you say media? I love the press, they love me. Let's give them a call!

Emily: You're the only bully I see around here.

Scott: Zander is a major felon. He's got an arrest record (slaps his arm) as long as my arm.

Emily: Zander also happens to be innocent until proven guilty.

Nikolas walks into the room.

Scott: Ah.

Nikolas: Which is why you'll be releasing him immediately.

Scott: Great. Another Cassadine.

Nikolas: I just paid Zander's bail.

Cameron: Thanks for your help with Alexander.

Alexis: I didn't set the bail, Nikolas did.

Cameron: Yeah, but you're the one that put the fear of god in Baldwin.

Alexis: It amuses me to make him sweat.

Cameron: You took time away from your child to help me with mine. I appreciate that.

Alexis: Well, I get to visit mine because of what you did for me.

Cameron: Well, you'll get her back. Just be patient and follow the rules.

Alexis: Skye is trying to steal my daughter, and I'm not being paranoid. It's true. (She glances at her watch) I have somewhere I have to be.

Cameron: (With a sparkling eye) Where? You don't have a job.

Alexis walks away and Cameron smiles knowingly to himself.

A police officer hands Zander some forms to sign.

Officer: You're free to go.

Zander signs the paper and the office takes them and walks out. Just then Cameron walks in.

Cameron: Can I give you a lift?

Zander: Why? Emily's here.

Cameron: She's an impressive young woman.

Zander: Too good for me, is that it?

Cameron: I didn't say that.

Zander: What are you doing here?

Cameron: I brought in Alexis to intimidate Scott. She was very effective.

Zander: Tell Alexis I said thank you. But from now on, I can solve my own problems. I don't need any help, especially from you.

Alexis rushes into the mansion dressed as Dobson. She's out of breath. She looks around to see if anyone is there.

Satisfied that nobody is watching, she steps to the mirror and checks her wig.

She walks into the living room and notices the table once again set for a romantic dinner complete with lit candles. She walks up to it disgusted as Alice walks in the door unnoticed.

Alexis: (In her normal voice) Skye and Ned again.

Alice: No. (Closes the door) Me and you.

Alexis freezes as Alice shimmies up behind her.

Alexis: (As Dobson) Alice.

Alice: Welcome home.

Alice brushes up against Alexis back. Alexis spins around and comes face to face with Alice's boobs.

Alexis gasps.

Alice: You know, there's nothing to think about tonight except each other.

Alexis: (As Dobson) The dinner is lovely, Alice, but I'm -- I'm afraid that I have other (blows out a candle) responsibilities.

She tries to blow out the second candle but is breathless with panic and can't do it.

Alice: Not for the rest of the night you don't.

Alexis puts the candle out with the palm of her hand.

Alexis: (In a high-pitched panicked Dobson voice) What about little Kristina?

Alice: I've already fed her and put her to bed.

Alexis: Ah, yes, well -- I think I hear her.

Alexis tries to get past Alice but Alice stops her with her arm.

Alice: (Getting into Alexis' face) I don't hear a thing, but I love how concerned you are.

(Frank Sinatra's "Strangers In The Night" begins to play)

Alice: I appreciate a family man.

Alice grabs the champagne bottle and begins to loosen the cork. Alexis tries to step further and further away from her.

Alexis: Uh -- Alice, I'm afraid it would be improper of me to drink while I'm on duty.

Alice: The only duty you have tonight is to -

The cork pops and Alexis squeals.

Alexis: Oh!

Alice: Enjoy yourself.

Alice begins to pour two glasses.

Alexis: I think I hear the baby.

Alexis tries to bolt but Alice grabs her by the lapel and pulls her back.

Alexis: Oh!

Alice pulls Alexis right up to her face. She turns her closer to the couch.

Alice uses her hip to bump Alexis up and onto the couch. Alexis groans as she lands. Alice grabs the glasses and sits down almost in Alexis' lap.

Alice: What shall we toast to?

Alexis: (Moving a set away from Alice) To friendship.

Alice: (Moving closer to Alexis) To a wonderful man.

Alexis: (Moving to the end of the couch) To a lovely dinner.

Alice: (Moving up next to Alexis) To a nice, full belly.

Alexis turns and discovers she's run out of real estate on the couch.

Alexis: To fond comrades.

Alice: (Getting even closer) Tell me, do I remind you of your mother?

Alexis: To dear old mum.

Alexis turns her head away in fright.

Alice: To love.

Alice grabs Alexis' knee. Alexis inhales with fear.

Alice: I find you to be such a very attractive man.

Alice's hand starts to run up Alexis' thigh. She flinches and sits up straight.
