EPISODE
Cameron:
You came into this house against a court order to kidnap your own
baby?
Alexis:
Yeah, but someone else did it first.
Cameron:
How were you planning to get off the grounds with a baby carrier?
Did you think no one would notice?
Alexis:
I made it as far as the nursery, didn't I?
Cameron:
If you take Kristina now, you could lose custody forever.
Alexis:
If I don't take her, I'm going to lose her forever.
Cameron:
You could go to jail. Don't you understand that?
Edward,
Ned and Scott walk in.
Alexis:
Yes, I do understand --
Edward:
What are you two whispering about in here?
Alexis:
Did you find anything?
Scott:
Well, you tell us, Alexis. (Reads the kidnapper's note) "I
have the baby. Instructions will follow." What are your instructions?
Cameron:
Alexis did not kidnap her own child.
Ned:
Look, we've searched the grounds. What's the next step?
Edward:
Have the phones been tapped?
Scott:
Set up downtown.
Cameron:
Who else had access to the nursery?
Scott:
This is my investigation there, Freud.
Big
Alice walks in with Alexis' baby carrier.
Alice:
Look what I found in the nursery.
Scott:
So?
Alice:
Well, I've never seen it before.
Alan:
Neither have I. Father?
Edward:
No. No, not me. (To Alexis) So why were you in this house,
again?
Skye
and A.J. are at the Skye's cottage. Skye is holding the baby.
A.J.:
Here's the plan. Kristina stays here, and the kidnappers contact
me.
Skye:
When?
A.J.:
When I'm ready.
Skye:
Look, A.J., I have gone above and beyond the call of duty here,
ok? I haven't had a drink in god knows when, and I did come up with
a good plan, given the time frame, but I cannot stay --
A.J.:
And you will get that corner office.
Skye:
Out in the middle of nowhere with some - (Skye makes a face)
oh. Oh, god. (Holds the baby out in front of her) What is
it doing? Ew! It's wet.
A.J.:
Yeah, well, put her down.
Skye:
Oh, ok. Uh, and then what? (Lays Kristina down in the crib)
A.J.:
Well, and I'll make a deal with the kidnappers, give them what they
want --
Skye:
No, I don't mean that. I mean, with the baby.
A.J.:
Change her diaper.
Skye:
Well, you change the diaper.
A.J.:
Why should I change her diaper?
Skye:
Well, it was your idea to drag her out here.
A.J.:
You know what? I better make an appearance at the house. (He
starts to walk)
Skye:
(Stops A.J.) Oh, don't you dare.
A.J.:
What? I mean, you don't want the family to get suspicious.
Skye:
Well, you can't leave me out here with her!
A.J.:
You want revenge on grandfather or not?
Skye:
Well, I -- I don't know how to change a diaper.
A.J.:
Well, you'll figure it out. (Heads for the door)
Skye:
A.J., no, you can't leave me!
A.J.:
Go easy on her.
Skye:
What am I supposed to do?
A.J.:
You'll figure it out.
A.J.
leaves.
Cameron:
Alexis has already told you what she was doing here.
Alan:
Violating a court order, for one thing.
Alexis:
I wanted to see my daughter.
Edward:
You mean, steal your daughter, don't you? That's why you brought
the carrier.
Alan:
Where is Kristina?
Scott:
I wonder what kind of prints I'll find on this.
Ned:
(Grabs the carrier) You'll find probably mine. I brought
this in from my car just the other day.
Scott:
Tampering with evidence, Ned.
A.J.
walks in.
Ned:
Look, Baldwin, this is the one place we know my daughter isn't.
Why aren't you out looking for her?
A.J.:
We're obviously dealing with professionals. They know what they're
doing. They want money.
Scott:
Never occurred to me, A.J.
Alexis:
Why haven't they called yet, Baldwin?
Scott:
I don't know. You tell me.
A.J.:
Maybe they won't.
Cameron:
Why are you escalating the situation?
A.J.:
Just being realistic.
Ned:
So am I. So which one of you stole Kristina? Hmm? Come on, fess
up. You already stole her once and nearly killed me in the process.
Was it you, grandfather?
Edward:
I have done nothing but help Kristina.
Ned:
In what universe?
Alan:
Why are you attacking your own family when the obvious suspect is
Alexis?
Alexis:
You know what? If it makes you feel better, arrest me, but somebody
get my daughter back here!
Scott:
(To the police officer) All right, stop standing around.
Get out there and search the premises again.
A.J.:
You won't find anything.
Cameron:
Why do you say that?
Scott:
Hey -- how many times I got to tell you this is my investigation?
(Camera
switches to the foyer)
Emily
walks down the stairs and listens to the voices from the living
room.
Alan's
voice: We'll find her, Alexis.
Alexis'
voice: Why should I believe you?
Edward's
voice: Don't set her off.
Ned's
voice: Why do you say things like that?
(Camera
switches back to the living room)
Edward:
Because she's a lunatic.
Cameron:
Oh, that's helpful, Edward.
Alexis:
I need to get my daughter back.
Cameron:
We'll find her.
Alexis:
She needs me.
(Camera
switches to the foyer)
Monica
comes down the stairs and stands next to Emily
Edward's
voice: I want the entire police force on this case.
A.J.'s
voice: Cops can't help us.
Ned's
voice: Shut up, Junior!
Alan
and Monica are discussing Emily when their pagers go off. They get
up to leave for the hospital. Ned walks out of the living room.
Ned:
What happened?
Monica:
Emergency at the hospital.
Alan:
Keep us posted on Kristina.
Monica
and Alan leave. Cameron walks out of the living room and approaches
Ned.
Cameron:
Thanks for the save with the baby carrier.
Ned:
Does Alexis have anything to do with this?
Cameron:
I don't think so, but we can't rule her out.
(Camera
switches to the living room)
A.J.:
Well, I'll touch base with Baldwin. (He walks out)
Alexis:
Baldwin couldn't find an elephant in a bathtub.
Edward:
You need to go home, dear, and get some rest.
Alexis:
You listen to me, old man. I'm not going anywhere until I get my
daughter back.
Skye
hovers over Kristina's crib with her hand full of diapers.
Skye:
Ok. Now, about this diaper thing, Kristina -- if we work together,
I think that we can do it, ok? All right. Now, I (diapers slip
out of her arms and into the crib) -- oh, oh -- yeah, well,
sorry about that. Don't want you to eat that or anything.
Skye
picks up the diapers and walks over near the couch. She starts opening
up one of the diapers.
Skye:
Ok. Let's figure out how this works, all right? Uh -- ok. Now --
yep. Simple enough. Let's do it. (She looks in at the baby who is
still wearing a diaper) Ah. Oh. Yeah, right. Plan ahead, you idiot.
Uh, me, not you. I have to get the wet diaper off first, don't I?
Ok. Let's do it, then.
Skye
reaches down and tries to yank the diaper off of the baby.
Skye:
Ok. Now, you know, you might want to just help me out here a little
bit. You know, maybe -- oh, god -- maybe sit. Can you sit? No, you
can't. You can't sit. I'm such a moron. Me, not you. Ok, just --
you know, don't kick. Kristina, stop. Don't. Don't -- don't roll
over! I can't -
(Skye
pulls up hard and up comes the diaper) Kristina! Wow. Nice work,
kiddo.
There's
a knock at the door.
Jax's
voice: Hello? Who's in there? Somebody in there?
Skye
answers the door and Jax walks in.
Skye:
Jax.
Jax:
Skye, what are you doing here?
Skye:
What, were you expecting Brenda?
Jax:
What happened to the rest of the furniture?
Skye:
I gave it to charity. What, were you just driving by?
Jax:
Saw the light on.
Skye:
Oh. You do that a lot, huh? Just drive by memory lane, that kind
of thing?
Jax:
What are you doing here?
Skye:
Well, let's see -- wallowing in memories. Drowning in disappointment.
Not to mention the fact that I won this place in the divorce settlement.
Jax:
Have you been drinking?
Skye:
Now, why does that seem like an appropriate question?
Jax:
You're right. My apologies.
Skye:
No, as a matter of fact, I am ridiculously sober. I am just having
one of those what-might-have-been kind of nights, you know? I'm
going to face the pain. I am. I'll get through it, but, well, seeing
you doesn't really help.
Jax:
Well, I understand. I'm sorry to bother you.
Jax
is just about out the door when he hears the baby make a noise.
Jax:
What was that?
Skye:
What?
Jax:
I heard a noise.
Skye:
Oh, you're hearing things.
Jax:
I don't think so.
Skye:
Well, maybe it's the ghost of what might have been.
Jax:
Yeah. Yeah, maybe it is.
Skye:
The ghost of what might have been.
Alexis
sits on a chair in the Q living room just waiting. Cameron stands
behind her.
Cameron:
Why do you want to stay here?
Alexis:
Because I don't trust the Quartermaines to call me if they hear
from the kidnappers.
Cameron:
Alexis, do you have any idea where Kristina is?
Alexis:
If I did, do you think that I would be here? (Stands up)
(Camera
switches outside the living room)
Edward
and A.J. are trying to listen through the door.
Edward:
Why does she mumble so? You'd think an attorney would have better
elocution.
A.J.:
She could be admitting where the baby is.
Edward:
Well, yeah, but I can't understand a word that the charlatan's saying,
either.
The
doorbell rings. Ned opens the door and Jax is there.
Ned:
You got my message. Thanks for getting here so fast.
Jax:
Where's Alexis?
Ned:
(Points to the living room) In there.
Edward:
She's probably in there turning into her sister.
Jax
barrels past Edward and walks into the living room. He heads right
for Alexis and hugs her.
Jax:
Hey. I'll help you any way I can.
Alexis:
You already have.
Edward:
Stop coddling that criminal.
Ned:
So Baldwin's on the case.
Jax:
Well, that's what I was afraid of.
Edward:
Now, look, I don't care who finds Kristina. I will be forever grateful.
A.J.:
I'll go check on grandmother. (Walks out)
Edward:
Don't you upset her, A.J.
Jax
and Alexis walk out into the foyer.
Alexis:
I'm glad you're here.
Camera
moves to show A.J. listening at the stop of the stairs.
Jax:
I need you to come with me.
Alexis:
I can't leave.
Jax:
I think I know where Kristina is.
(Camera
switches to the cottage)
Skye
sits alone on her couch holding the baby.
Skye:
Well, I don't think Jax believed a word that I said, but I don't
think he's coming back. Doesn't want
to be reminded of what might have been. You have no idea what's
going on, do you, Kristina? Being stolen and traded like a work
of art. People treating you like some commodity -- something they
think they desperately want but then forget or ignore. I'll tell
you, it's not fair, is it? Not when you don't want anything more
in the whole world than just to be cared for. Well, take care, kiddo,
because at this rate, in this family, you could grow up to be someone
like me.
SECOND
EPISODE
Skye
is holding the baby and walking around her living room trying to
burp her.
Skye:
All right, well, you had your bottle. At least my nonexistent mothering
skills aren't affecting your appetite. But I think you're supposed
to burp or something now, right? I think so. Yes. Yes, you are.
I did. You know, I saw that in a movie. Uh-huh, I did. You're supposed
to burp. I saw it in a movie on a plane (chuckles) in first
class, with all the screaming children safely snuggled behind that
coach curtain. That is right. Ok. All right, all right, all right.
Kristina, you got to do this for me, ok? What, you want to get a
stomachache? Please, you're making me look bad here. Do it, ok?
What can I -- what can I bribe you with? Some gourmet applesauce,
maybe? Ugh. It wouldn't work on me, either. I -- how about -- how
about a tiara? Huh? It's never too soon to be treated like a princess.
Ain't that right? Matter of fact, Jax treated me like a princess.
That is, until that witch Brenda twitched her --
Kristina
burps.
Skye:
Oh. Oh! Oh, my god! Kristina, was that you? Are you all right? Huh?
Do you hate Brenda as much as I do? (She holds up the baby and
realizes she spit up on her shoulder) Oh, my god. You just threw
up all over a couturier suit. That is not ok. Oh, no, no, no. Let
me tell you something, kid, when you are not nice to people who
are trying to be nice to you, that is not a good thing, (puts
the baby in the crib) if you know what I'm saying, huh? Yeah,
ok, I know I'm not nanny material, all right, and, well, we did
kidnap you and everything, but -- what are you looking at? (Smiles)
Little brat.
A.J.
listens to Alexis, Cameron and Jax in the foyer from the top of
the stairs.
Alexis:
What do you mean you know where the baby is?
Jax:
It's a hunch.
Alexis:
Where?
Jax:
Look, you got to ask yourself why it was so easy for the kidnapper
to enter the house, unless they were family.
Alexis:
All the members of the family already in this house, except for
Monica and Alan, and they're at the hosp-(she realizes who is
missing from the house) oh, my god.
Jax:
Look, I'm not sure about this, ok? I'm not 100% sure.
A.J.
sneaks back to the stop of the stairs and leaves. Just then Cameron
comes out of the living room.
Cameron:
Are you all right?
Alexis:
Skye Quartermaine has Kristina.
Cameron:
What?
Jax:
That's what I suspect. Just we need to find that out for sure.
Alexis:
She drinking? What if she's drinking? She has my daughter in the
car?
Jax:
Alexis, Alexis, calm down.
Alexis:
What if she gets into an accident?
Jax:
Calm down, ok, she's not drinking. Ok, she's alone. She's out at
Brenda's old cottage. She's sober.
Cameron:
Why would Skye kidnap Kristina?
Alexis:
Trying to gain leverage against Edward. I'm sure A.J.'s in on this,
too.
Jax:
Well, I'm sure he is, yes.
Cameron:
That's why he wanted to escalate the situation.
Alexis:
He wants to ride in on his horse and impress Edward.
Cameron:
The Quartermaines want to impress each other or destroy each other?
Alexis:
Both.
Cameron:
Fascinating.
Alexis:
They're using my daughter to do it.
Jax:
Ok, let's just go check out Skye.
Cameron:
(Makes a move toward the living room) I'll go get Ned. He's
in with Edward.
Jax:
No, that's -- that's a bad idea.
Alexis:
We can't do that. That means if Edward finds out about it, he'll
try to get there first.
Jax:
Let's go.
The
three walk out the front door.
The
phone rings in the Q living room and Ned answers is.
Ned:
Ned Ashton. Yes, yes. Who's calling? Do you realize you're tying
up the lines? If you call here again, I'm pressing charges! (Slams
down phone)
Edward:
I take it that that wasn't the kidnapper.
Ned:
Telemarketer.
Edward:
Can't the police clear that line?
Alan:
No word at all?
Ned:
No, nothing. And time is definitely not on Kristina's side. The
longer we don't hear anything --
Edward:
Ned, they'll call.
Ned:
Kristina would be sleeping in the gatehouse right now if not for
both of you.
Edward:
You have reminded us of that, Ned, continuously for the last hour.
Ned:
I've been playing by your rules all my life, grandfather, but this
time -- this time you should have never involved Kristina.
Alan:
I'll check with the cops.
Edward:
All right, tell them to do their jobs. I tell you, if anything would
happen to that little girl --
Ned:
You'll have one less potential heir, huh?
Edward:
Now is not the time, Ned --
Ned:
Kristina's just about the last little trophy you have, isn't she?
That's if she's ever returned.
Edward:
She has to be.
Ned:
Tell me something -- what would you do if you had to give up E.L.Q.
to save Kristina?
Edward:
Well, you wouldn't --
Ned:
What would you do?
Edward:
I don't have to listen to this!
Edward
leaves.
Jax,
Cameron and Alexis are at Skye's cottage. Alexis waits by the couch.
Jax comes down the stairs and Cameron comes out of the kitchen.
Jax:
The upstairs is clear.
Cameron:
There's no sign of the baby down here.
Alexis:
Somebody must have tipped Skye off.
Cameron:
If she ever even had Kristina.
Alexis:
Why is this place cleaned out completely? I mean, that doesn't make
any sense. What if she has the baby and she's hiding her someplace?
Cameron:
That's a little farfetched, don't you think?
Jax:
Obviously, you don't know the Quartermaines.
Alexis:
We need to get back to the house.
Cameron:
Maybe the kidnappers have called.
As
Cameron and Jax head for the door Alexis grabs her purse off the
couch. She notices a pink sock on the couch and picks it up.
Jax:
You ok?
Cameron:
Did you find anything?
Alexis
puts the sock into her purse so that Cameron and Jax can't see it.
Jax:
Alexis, did you find something?
Cameron:
Are you all right?
Alexis:
(Heads for the door) If you're right and Skye was here, then
she's moving with her right now. She could be drunk, driving the
baby.
They
walk out the front door and walk to the dar.
Jax:
I don't think Skye would put a child in danger.
Alexis:
She's an active alcoholic.
Cameron:
Should we bother to search the woods?
Jax:
Skye in the woods? I don't think so.
Alexis:
We need to get back to the house, see if they heard from the kidnappers.
Skye
and A.J. arrive back at the cottage. Skye carries the diaper bag
and baby carrier.
Skye:
You sure they're gone?
A.J.:
Oh, yeah. You saw the car leave. And I checked upstairs and the
backyard, so don't worry.
Skye:
What if they double back?
A.J.:
You've been watching too many westerns. Get in here, please.
She
walks down the stairs and puts the carrier on the couch.
Skye:
Ok. Ok. I think there's a bottle right here in this bag. She needs
to eat. (Takes a bottle out of the diaper bag)
A.J.:
Mama Skye in action.
Skye:
Oh, shut up.
A.J.:
Listen, aren't you even glad that I warned you?
Skye:
What, you're my partner. You're supposed to call me. As it is, I
barely had enough time to get my stuff in the car and get halfway
up the road.
A.J.:
In other words, "Thanks."
Skye:
Oh, can you imagine carrying this stuff around? It is so hideous
and clumsy. (Gives Kristina the bottle) There you go, princess
brat.
A.J.:
"Princess brat"?
Skye:
What? It's a term of affection. Aren't those allowed? Yeah, ignore
A.J. everybody else does. There you go.
A.J.:
Yeah, well, not after tomorrow. No way. Once the kidnappers make
their demands, we'll get everything in writing. And then we can
give princess brat back to Ned and you and I will run to our little
corner offices at E.L.Q. Is that a great plan or what, hmm?
Camera
pulls back to reveal Alexis watching them through the window.
The
camera zooms in on an empty crib in a darkened room.
A.J.'s
voice: You want to check on the baby again?
Skye's
voice: I want to make sure she's breathing.
A.J.'s
voice: I thought I'd never see you like this.
Skye
walks up to the crib.
Skye:
She could be tangled up in the sheets or something.
Skye
steps up to the empty crib.
Skye:
Oh, my god.
(Camera
switches to the Quartermaine foyer)
Alexis
is holding Kristina close to her.
Alexis:
I want to take you with me. But I can't. I won't do it. It'll be
six months. It'll be less if I can swing it. But I've trusted the
law all my life and I'm not going to stop now.
(Kristina
coos and Alexis steps closer to the living room door)
Alexis:
Yes, my love. Yes, my love. Ok.
Alexis
hears Jax and Edward arguing in the next room.
Jax's
voice: You're the one who should be arrested, Edward.
Edward's
voice: What, for loving my family?
Jax's
voice: So you burn down Ned's house and then steal his baby?
Edward:
You have no proof.
Jax's
voice: Yeah, because you bribed the District Attorney to help
you take Kristina away from her parents!
Edward's
voice: Listen, Ned is a brilliant businessman, but he's a questionable
father. Alexis is an idiot. She's a lunatic.
(Camera
switches to the living room)
Jax:
Edward, Alexis has a mental illness. Do you understand that concept?
She is sick!
Edward:
She is a crazy woman! She is inbred like all of those Cassadines,
or she is a brilliant attorney who faked her own insanity in order
to get away with murder. At any rate, I do not want her anywhere
near Kristina!
Jax:
Edward, she is the child's mother.
Alexis
is nowhere to be seen and the front door is wide open.
Edward's
voice: The child is going to be raised a Quartermaine!
(Camera
switches back to the foyer)
Edward:
And Alexis is not going to get custody of Kristina -- not in six
months, not in six years! Not ever!
