Cameron backs up as "Kristina" holds a knife up to his chest.

Alexis: (As Kristina) I told you to leave me alone.

Cameron: I'm only trying to help.

Alexis: No, you're scaring my sister, and I can't let you do that.

Alexis: I told you to leave me alone.

Cameron: I'm only trying to help.

Alexis: No, you're scaring my sister, and I can't let you do that. And don't you pretend that you're trying to care about me, because you don't.

Cameron: You're wrong, Kristina. I care a great deal if you'll let me prove it to you.

Alexis: How? (She closes her eyes)

Cameron: First let me have the knife. You're too smart to use it. It'll only make everything worse.

Alexis: (With her eyes still closed) No, you have made things worse, Cameron, because you wouldn't leave anything alone. You keep following her around, you keep trying to get inside her head and figure out what's going on, and you know too much now. So you're going cause trouble and I can't let that happen, so I have to stop you.

Cameron: The way you stopped Alcazar?

She looks up at him.

Alexis: (Quietly) That's poetic justice. He killed me, (whispering) I killed him.

"Kristina" still holds the knife up to Cameron.

Cameron: Did Alcazar threaten the baby?

Alexis: (As Kristina) You know the answer to that.

She lowers the knife from Cameron's chest and walks around him, still holding the knife in the air.

Alexis: He's the reason that she was -- she was born too early. I mean, he - he - he - he got my sister all upset and then he left her in - in - in - in - in the snow to die when she went into labor. And - and - and and - then, not only that, he went to the hospital. (Waving the knife in front of her) He went to the hospital because he was going to hurt her and he was going to hurt the baby, and I couldn't let that happen. (She takes a deep breath)

Cameron: It was your job to stop him?

Alexis: Protecting my sister is why I'm here. I'm so surprised that you don't get that by now, Cameron. I have to do the things that she's afraid to do. And above all else, I have to protect the baby. (Raising her voice) I have to protect the baby, which is why I have to get rid of you! (She starts breathing hard)

Cameron: Let's not be precipitous. I'm really quite harmless.

Alexis: You're going to tell. You're going to tell, Cameron. I know. You're going to tell about Alcazar, and - and - then they're going to take the baby away from Alexis. They're going to give Kristina -- they're going to give her to somebody that we don't even know, and I can't let that happen! (Raises the knife over her head) I can't let that happen!

Cameron grabs her hand as she tries to stab him.

He struggles with her and then holds onto her.

Alexis: Ow.

Cameron: Fair warning, Kristina. I'll take on all comers to keep Alexis intact, including you.

Cameron holds tightly to Alexis so that she can't free her arms. She struggles a little as he speaks and grabs at his hand.

Cameron: This isn't like the night with Alcazar. All my faculties are fully engaged. I'm not on a balcony, not distracted by a bunch of people who mean to do me harm. So you can stop struggling.

She suddenly stops struggling and lets out a deep breath. She still has a murderous look in her eyes. He loosens his grip.

Cameron: That's better.

She frees herself from him and steps away.

Cameron: And as long as we're here, mind answering a few questions?

Alexis: (As Kristina) You're going to ask them. I don't have to answer.

Cameron: How did the murder happen?

Alexis: (Listing the events in a matter of fact way) There was a knife on the floor. I picked it up, I walked out to the terrace. I stabbed him, he backed up, he fell over the railing. That's when I got Alexis out of there. I left, and that's when Alexis found the body.

Cameron: Why did you contact Ric Lansing?

Alexis: (She becomes compassionate) Because I knew that Alexis would never want Jason, Brenda, or anyone else to pay for a crime that they didn't commit, and I was wrong. I should have just left things the way they were, but I was afraid that she would be upset with me. I was afraid that she would be ashamed of me. And you know what, it probably all would've worked out fine if you (takes a deep breath) hadn't just been around asking questions and asking questions and wanting answers, and I hope the answers are worth what it's going to cost you.

Cameron: Do you really want to kill me, Kristina?

Alexis: (Shaking her head) I don't have any choice, Cameron.

Cameron: Sure you do. Here, let me help.

Alexis: (Yelling) Nobody can help her but me!

Cameron: Think about what Alexis would want. (She bows her head and fights off tears) We both know what that is. She would want you to let me help.

(She crosses her arms in front of her chest as if in grief) Can you do that, Kristina? Can you trust me?

She seems to shrink down a little as she calms. Chimes jingle. She opens her eyes.

Alexis: (As Alexis) What?

Cameron: Alexis?

Alexis: Yes?

He stares at her and she looks confused. He glances down to her hands and she follows his eyes. She looks down at the knife in her hands.

Alexis: Oh, God. Oh, please tell me that I didn't hurt you.

Cameron: No, I'm fine. But you need to know Kristina can and will do anything to protect you, including murder.

Alexis drops the knife from her hands and walks away from it.

Alexis: Would you please pick that up and get rid of it?

Cameron: (Approaching her) Alexis, listen to me.

Alexis: No, no, no. Cameron, please, I cannot deal with this right now. Please.

Cameron: You have to deal with it now, Alexis. You have to understand what your alter is doing so that we can treat your condition and achieve integration.

Alexis: (She pauses and becomes serious) Ok.

Cameron: Kristina considers herself your protector. She emerges when you feel that you or child have been threatened.

Alexis: (Turning around) I don't have any idea what you're talking about, Cameron.

Cameron: Alexis, you need to brace yourself. Kristina confessed to killing Luis Alcazar.

She pauses and tries to process the implications of what he's just told her. She closes her eyes and shakes her head.

Alexis: What do I do?

She bows her head and tries to breath.

Cameron: You have an illness, Alexis. We'll treat it.

Alexis: (Panicking) I killed -- I killed a man, and when they find out, they're going to take my baby.

She puts her hands to her face.

Alexis walks away from Cameron and looks out over the water in tears.

Cameron: The more panicked you get, the more likelihood that Kristina will re-emerge. She's designated herself your protector, remember? She takes action when you feel powerless, and clearly, she's not bound by your moral code. (She shakes her head as if not wanting to listen) Now, you have to actively work at staying calm and rational, or God knows what else could happen.

Alexis: (She turns around and cries through her words) How did this happen? How did this happen? What, are you telling me that my mind is broken?

Cameron: No, not broken. Split.

Alexis: I killed a man!

Cameron: No, not you.

Alexis: Not me? What, the person who was inhabiting my body? (Walking around him hysterical) Do you really expect a jury to believe that? Do you know how hard that's going to be to sell to a jury or a social worker?

She holds out her hands in despair.

Alexis: I have a daughter!

She reaches to him and begins to plead with him.

Alexis: Cameron -- please, (grabs his coat lapel) please, you can't tell anybody. (Sobbing) You can't tell anybody what I did. Please, please, help me. Please.

She collapses her head against his chest and sobs.

Cameron picks up the knife and throws it in the garbage can.

Alexis: Thank you.

Cameron: The rest of this won't be so easily solved.

Alexis: Are you going to keep my secret?

Cameron: Alexis, your alter committed a murder. We've got to get you into intensive therapy so we can integrate these personalities.

Alexis: None of which will matter if I lose my baby.

She walks up to him .

Alexis: I -- I know that this is a lot to ask, and I know that it's horribly unfair. (Begins to cry again) But please don't turn me in. I'm an excellent attorney. I would never let anyone else be acquitted for something that they didn't do. And - and - and - if I can't accomplish that, then you can - you can step forward and - and - and you can do whatever you want.

Cameron: No one's been arrested yet. We still have some time.

Alexis: (Whispers) Please don't let me lose my baby.

He steps up to her, grabs her shoulders and pulls her to him.

Cameron: We'll find a way. You're not going to lose your baby, Alexis, or yourself.

She sobs into his shoulder.

Cameron: I won't let that happen.
