"A
Clubhouse for Amateur Detectives"
A
woman identifying herself as the murder has called Scotty at his
office while Ric, Felicia and Taggert are there.
Scott:
Why come forward now? Who are you trying to save?
Woman's
voice: You don't believe me? I stabbed Alcazar in the stomach.
He backed away from me, and I pushed him over the railing. Then
I dropped the knife where you found it and ran. (She hangs up)
Scott:
Hello?
Felicia:
You should listen to her. Brenda and Jason are innocent. Your so-called
eyewitness perjured herself.
Scott:
Oh, Felicia, the facts don't match up. It's a fairy tale dreamed
up by Corinthos --
Taggert:
No, it's not.
Scott:
Because he's trying to save them. He'll do anything. He's desperate.
Taggert:
Scott, she's telling the truth.
Scott:
What are you talking about, Taggert?
Taggert:
Check the file, sir.
Scott:
There was no third stab wound in the stomach or anywhere else.
Taggert:
There's
a 1220-A notice of a sealed document in there. The autopsy showed
that there was a third stab wound to the stomach. Nobody knew about
it except me, the coroner, and that woman on the phone. She's Alcazar's
killer.
While
having him at gunpoint, Courtney gets A.J. to confess to paying
off Ida.
Scott:
Why wasn't I told about this before?
Taggert:
It's in the file, sir.
Scott:
The file -- look at all these files. There's boxes of files.
I was supposed to find one little form?
Ric:
Look, I think the Sergeant here was trying to point out -
Taggert:
Lieutenant.
Ric:
Oh,
my apologies. The Lieutenant here was just trying to say that he
was following proper procedure. I don't think it's his responsibility
to let the D.A. know the contents of his own case file.
Scott:
Let me tell you what I'm aware of here, Lansing, ok? First of all,
when I laid eyes on you, I knew you were working for Corinthos.
Now you're trying to move into the number one stooge position.
Ric:
Oh.
Scott:
You're bought, and this woman on the phone was bought by Corinthos!
Felicia:
The only person that was paid was your eyewitness, Ida Warren.
Scott:
Felicia, you're the one that brought her to me.
Felicia:
You were set up. I was set up. The only difference is that I
acknowledge the problem and I try to undo the damage.
There's
a knock on the door.
Scott:
I'm busy!
Officer:
Officer Hernandez here to pick up the new evidence.
Scott:
There is no new evidence!
Taggert
walks to the door and hands the bag over to the officer.
Taggert:
It's right here, officer. Take this down to forensics. Have them
check it for Alcazar's D.N.A. If you find anybody else's, we could
use it to link it to the killer, all right?
Scott:
Taggert, back up.
Taggert:
I --
Scott:
We got the killers, and they're downstairs locked up!
Ric:
Lieutenant -- Lieutenant --
Scott:
What?
Ric:
Excuse me. Could -- could I have a minute, please?
Taggert:
Be my guest.
Ric
takes Scotty aside.
Ric:
Thank you. Now, Mr. Baldwin, new evidence has come to light that
casts serious doubt on both Jason and Brenda's conviction here.
Now, I know that you're pragmatic in your heart of hearts -- a pragmatic
and reasonable man who wants to do the right thing. But if you fail
to advise the court of these developments, I'm afraid I'm going
to have to go to not only the judge but the press as well.
Ric:
Now,
come on. The truth is that you wanted Jason Morgan in the hopes
that his conviction would help you bring charges against Sonny Corinthos,
right? And you twisted the evidence to support the scenario that
both Jason and Brenda were guilty. You fed it to the jury, and it
was a masterstroke, I'll give you that. But it all falls apart in
the light of the facts.
Scott:
Here are the facts -- Jason chloroformed the security guard. Brenda
went after Alcazar with a knife. The conviction stands.
Ric:
You know what? I don't mean to burst your bubble here, counselor,
but as an officer of the court, it is your duty to present to the
judge any new evidence that you have uncovered.
Scott:
What evidence? A crank phone call?
Ric:
You --
Scott:
A piece of fabric?
Taggert:
The judge -- the judge will be notified as soon the traces come
back from forensics. He'll also be given a tape and a transcript.
Ric:
Thank you.
There's
a knock at the door.
Scott:
Go away!
Officer
Hernandez: I'm sorry. She said it was urgent -
Courtney
walks in.
Courtney:
I need to see you, Mr. Baldwin. I have new evidence about the Alcazar
case.
Scott:
Of course you do. Why wouldn't you? You're Corinthos' sister. Who's
next, his kid?
Ric:
Well, you know what, Courtney? There's a lot of new evidence
that's been uncovered recently. Why don't you tell us what you found?
Scott:
Hey, this is not a clubhouse for amateur detectives, all right?
So you and you, get out. And I would go, too.
Courtney:
No, not until you hear me out.
Ric:
You
know what? Why don't you come with us, Courtney? I'm sure Lt. Taggert
here would love to hear anything that you have to say.
Ric
and Felicia leave.
Scott:
I'm the District Attorney. If there's any evidence, I'll hear it.
So, you two get out. You, stay.
Scott:
You know what, Taggert? You get out, too.
Taggert:
Oh, no, I'm going to stay, just in case there's some evidence you
want me to follow up on.
Courtney:
There will be.
Scott:
Well, you know what? We'll be the judge of that.
Courtney:
Ok. Well, A.J. and Skye framed Jason and Brenda. They got this guy,
Coleman, to find Ida Warren, and they paid her to lie, and I have
proof.
Courtney
turns on the tape recorder.
Courtney's
voice:
Admit what you did!
A.J.'s
voice: Fine. Ok, I was in on it with -- with Coleman and Skye,
ok? Coleman found Ida. Skye and I paid her off, told her what to
say.
