"Hypnosis"

Jax, Brenda at Jason are at Jason's penthouse arguing. Brenda is in her pajamas.

Jax: I thought I made myself clear that I don't take orders from you.

Jason: Well --

Brenda: Jax --

Jason: You know, I thought I made myself clear. I don't want you here.

Brenda: You said that it was ok if I had him over as long as I was careful.

Jason: Yeah, well, that was before, you know, Jax decided to sell me out to Baldwin.

Brenda: No, no, no, no, that's not going to happen.

Jason: Well, he wants Alexis to cut a deal for your freedom, Brenda.

Brenda: Yeah, I know. What are you worried about? You know I'd never sell you out.

Jax: I still think you should distance yourself from Jason.

Brenda: Well, how am I going to distance myself --

Jax: I'm not going to let her go to jail because of you.

Jason: No one's going to jail, Jax.

There's a knock at the door.

Jason: (Walking toward the door) Are you going to put -- slip a robe on or something? You just stand around here -

He opens the door and there stands Alexis.

Jason: Alexis, what do you want?

Alexis: I'm here to see my client. (Walking in) Good morning.

Brenda: Hi.

Alexis: Have you reconsidered the hypnosis?

Jax: Hypnosis?

Jason: What hypnosis?

Brenda: Well, I've decided to be hypnotized.

Brenda: See, if I'm hypnotized, I can remember every single detail that happened that night -- and maybe it'll help us find the real killer.

Jax: Well, whatever the results, we need the option of keeping them private.

Alexis: I'll arrange that.

Jason: Why would you need to?

Jax: Because Brenda's memories may hurt her case.

Jason: They won't, because Brenda didn't kill Alcazar.

Jax: That's not the point. There's a lot of evidence against her, ok? So we need to protect the results, no matter what.

Jason: Am I the only one who believes that Brenda didn't kill Alcazar?

Alexis and Jax don't respond.

Brenda: It doesn't matter. I've already made my decision. So, when can we set this up?

Ric goes to Jason's and Carly is there trying to convince Jason to testify on his own behalf - a favor to Ric. Jason doesn't want to talk to Ric and leaves.

Brenda, Jax, Alexis and Cameron walk into a pysch therapy room at the hospital.

Brenda: And I just have been thinking about it and thinking about it ever since -- you remember when Jax said that I should go with an insanity plea? (She laughs nervously) Of course you remember. So I -- I was just thinking, you know, if I was hypnotized, then I could remember every single little detail about what happened -- not that I forgot, but -- maybe I did.

Cameron: Well, the hypnosis should cure that.

Brenda: Yeah. Ok, so, should I do something? Or -- what do I do?

Cameron: It's very simple. I'll put you into a relaxed state and then lead you into a sequence of events. We'll see what emerges.

Brenda: (Unbuttoning her coat) Ok. It's just -- what -- I'm sorry. I'm a little nervous. I mean, what if I remember a really important detail? And I'll feel stupid --

Jax: Well, that's the whole point of this, though, is to remember the details, so, you're doing the right thing.

Cameron: Why don't you two sit over there?

Jax: Ok.

Jax and Alexis go sit at the back of the room.

Cameron: Brenda, have a seat.

Brenda: Ok. Should I just sit here?

Cameron: That'll be fine.

Brenda: (Points to another chair) Should I put my coat here?

Cameron: Wherever you like.

Brenda sits down and Cameron sits across from her.

Brenda: Ok. Ahem.

Cameron: Now sit comfortably.

Brenda: Ok.

Cameron: Feel yourself start to relax. Close your eyes. Now relax your toes.

Brenda: My toes.

Cameron: Breathe. Relax your feet.

Carly: Once Jason makes up his mind about something, that's pretty much it. A tornado couldn't get him to budge.

Ric: Well, that's heartening.

Carly: It's a fact. Jason's not going to testify. (Ric sighs) And it doesn't matter what you say, it's not going to change. He doesn't like you. And if you haven't noticed, Sonny doesn't, either.

Ric: You're just making my ego soar.

Carly: Well, I like you, if it counts for anything. (She walks to the door and shuts it)

Ric: Oh, well, thanks for the vote of confidence.

Carly: Although it is completely self-serving, because you're going to help me make my club become a fabulous success.

Ric: Oh.

Carly: But no matter how much money our club starts bringing in, I don't think Sonny's going to hire you. So if that's your ultimate goal --

Ric: You know, I will worry about the future when it comes. Besides, right now, between the club and Jason's defense, my plate's pretty full.

Carly: I'm sure it is.

Ric: Oh, speaking of which, I need to talk to Brenda. Do you have any idea how I can get a hold of her?

Carly: She's at the hospital, getting hypnotized. Yeah, she thinks that maybe it'll help her remember something about the night of Alcazar's murder.

Ric looks nervous and concerned.

Carly: What's wrong?

Ric: (Nervously) Nothing -- Alexis Davis and I are supposed to be coordinating our defenses, and how can we do that if she's just going off on her own?

Ric rushes out the door.

Brenda is sitting with Cameron in a hypnotized state.

Cameron: So you get off the elevator. You go to Luis Alcazar's room. You knock on the door. What happens next?

(As Brenda tells her story we see images from that night in black and white)

Brenda: (Alcazar goes to the door and answer it as Brenda walks in) He answers. He's in a robe. I tell him that he needs to leave town because I think somebody's going to try to kill him. He says he'll never let me go.

Cameron: Are you upset?

Brenda: No. I'm mad. I tell him that there's no way I'll ever let him hurt Jax. He says that there's nothing I can do to stop him. (She remembers Luis grabbing her arm) He's grabbing me.

Brenda: (She remembers him kissing her) He kisses me. (And then she pushes him) I'm pushing him. (She runs from the room) I'm running.

Cameron: You leave the room.

Brenda: (She remembers knocking over the room service cart and the knife falling to the ground) Something -- those dishes with -- it's a room service cart. There was a steak knife. I pick it up.

Cameron: And go back to the room?

She nods.

She remembers walking back to the room with the knife.

Brenda: (A tear falling down her cheek) I'm just so mad. (She starts to cry)

She remembers lunging at Alcazar with the knife raised over her head.

Brenda's voice: I'm trying to cut him. (She sobs) He grabbed me. Oh. I cut his hand. He's just holding me, pushing me.

Alcazar grabs hold of the knife above her head and brings her hand down toward her face - the blade pointing at her.

Cameron: What are you thinking?

Brenda: He lied to me. He hurt me. He's going to hurt someone that I love. This is my fault. This is my fault. It's my job -- it's my job to protect Jax. I'm -- I'm going to kill him now.

She remembers getting up from the floor with the knife - Alcazar standing in front of her.

Brenda: I'm -- I'm going to kill him now.

Cameron: You're on the floor. What happens next?

Brenda: (She lift her hand in a stabbing motion but doesn't bring her hand down) I can't -- can't do it. Can't kill anyone. I throw the knife down. (She remembers the knife falling to the floor) I'm running out. (She sighs in frustration) I can't find the stairs. I don't remember where the stairs are. (She sighs) I just need to stop and think.

She sees a man (clearly Ric) dressed in a long coat and holding a gun

Brenda: There's a man.

Cameron: Jason?

Ric walks into the viewing room outside.

She sees a man (clearly Ric) dressed in a long coat and holding a gun

Brenda: No. There's a man in a long coat. I can't see his face.

Ric turns on the intercom in the viewing booth.

Cameron: Can you describe the coat?

Brenda: It's dark. It's an overcoat

Cameron: Does the man walk away?

Brenda: No.

The man readies the gun and turns to walk down the hall.

Cameron: What happens?

Brenda: What's he doing? I can't -- I can't see him. Wait, he's turning around.

Ric stands anxiously in the viewing room.
