"I Really am Just so Incredibly Sorry"

Alexis: Benny, hi, it's Alexis. Is Sonny -- have you talked to him at all? Well, will you ask him to call me when he gets in? Thanks.

Kristina: Oh.

Alexis: Oh -- what are you doing home? I thought that you were busy today.

Kristina: Well, I wanted to make sure that you were all right.

Alexis: Yeah, I'm fine.

Kristina: Alexis, was Barker v. Hayes upheld by the supreme court?

Alexis: Yes -- what? Yes. Why? Why are you asking me that?

Kristina: I just wanted to establish that you're still capable of telling me the truth.

Alexis: What do you want from me?

Kristina: I want you to stop keeping everything inside. "Fine" is not always an appropriate response to everything.

Alexis: Ok, I was a little embarrassed when I walked in on you and Ned. But give me a minute, I'm very adaptable. You didn't happen to see Sonny in the elevator when you came up, did you?

Kristina: Oh, so you really are fine.

Alexis: That's what I said.

Kristina: Oh, that must mean that that wasn't Carly.

Alexis: Carly?

Kristina: The body that they pulled out from the lake.

Alexis: What?

Kristina: Oh, you didn't know. I'm such an idiot.

Alexis: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, Sonny.

Kristina: Here.

Alexis: I'm fine.

Kristina: Alexis, I swear, you say that word one more time, I'm going to scream.

Alexis: Ok, I'm not fine.

Kristina: You're right. You're worried about Sonny.

Alexis: Of course I'm worried about him. I'm worried about the impact that this is going to have on him.

Kristina: Well, that is just wonderful. And where do you fit into this equation, huh? How is all this going to affect you? Who's going to be worried about you? I am. I'm worried about you, Alexis.

Alexis: This is so not about me.

Kristina: Of course it's about you. Something huge is affecting a man that you were starting to get involved with --

Alexis: Kristina --

Kristina: A man that you were falling in love with.

Alexis: You have no idea how inappropriate this conversation is right now. If that body is Carly's, if she is truly dead, then there's a little boy who just lost his mother and Sonny just lost a woman that he loves. And this is a horrible, horrible situation. And I need to just sit for five minutes, and then I'll decide how that affects me.

Kristina: Why don't you call Sonny, you know, offer him your help. Maybe doing something would make you feel better.

Alexis: I don't know what to do. He and Carly had a very profound connection, and I may not have understood that connection, but they had it nonetheless, and now it's been ripped away from him.

Kristina: Alexis, Sonny cares about you --

Alexis: I don't want to talk about it anymore, and I don't want to think about it. I wish to god that I had never met him. I wish to God that Carly were sitting across the hall with him. And I'm sure that he wishes that, too.

Kristina: I'm sorry that Carly passed away. I agree with you that it's a tragedy. But, Alexis, it's not your fault. And you shouldn't feel wrong or guilty about caring for Sonny.

Alexis: I can't help the way that I feel. And I don't know what to do.

Kristina: How do you feel? How do you feel?

Alexis: I'm so sorry. I really am just so incredibly sorry.

Kristina: Do you regret sleeping with Sonny?

Alexis: I'm fumbling my way here, Kristina. I don't have a context for any of this. I don't have a context for him. All I can do is honor his relationship with Carly and try to help him in any way that I can, and that may mean leaving him alone.

Kristina: So you're backing away from Sonny?

Alexis: If he needs me to, yes.

Kristina: Alexis, I don't feel like I was very much help to you.

Alexis: I'm beyond help. But I love you for trying.

Kristina: Will you yell if you need me?

Alexis: I will.

Kristina: Promise.

Alexis: I promise.

Kristina: Ok.
