16, 2002 Transcript A.J.: Awfully quiet all of a sudden. Maybe you don't understand. It's very simple, really. You have something of mine. I have something of yours. Proposing an even trade -- your sister for my son. Deal of a lifetime, wouldn't you say? Courtney: What none of you seem to understand is that I love A.J. And he loves me. And we are husband and wife now, and there isn't anything that any of you can do about it. So if you're here to try, just leave. Alexis: Courtney, a lot of people came here on your behalf. We just want to make sure that everything works out all right for you. Courtney: It already has. I'm married and I don't need any of you telling me how to think or how to feel or anything else. Ned: Well, I can't speak for everyone, but -- it's not my intention. I would like to stay, though, if only to make sure that you don't become the quickest widow on record.
Sonny: You really do want to die, don't you? A.J.:
Now, why would I want to die? Life is good. I finally have the
upper hand. You thought you'd get away with it, didn't you? You
really did. You thought that you could steal my son, adopt him,
and cut me out? This is about family, flesh and blood, a real
father and son -- something you wouldn't know anything about,
Sonny. Now, like I said, I'll go in there right now and I'll end
the whole thing. I will annul the marriage. Yeah, I'll hurt her
-- maybe. But the bright side is you'll be the big shot. Her big
brother was right all along. I'm the creep that you all warned
her I am. Come on, man. I'll go in there right now. I'll even
tell her that I used her and it was all about revenge on you.
But the price tag is Michael. You return my son to me. Alexis: We're all a little confused right now. And as comfortable as I am -- well, I think we're all uncomfortable about this -- but I think it's better if nobody left until we've made sure that you are safe. Courtney: Safe? Ned: In the meantime, I guess that makes you my cousin-in-law, right? Would anyone mind if I tried to make the best of the situation? Courtney: Please, somebody do that. Skye: What's going on out there? Jax: It's not good. And it's not going to get any better. A.J.: Just so we're straight, I'm not talking about visitation and weekends. I'm talking full custody, Sonny. And don't worry. I will allow Carly to remain in Michael's life for his sake. But you? No way. Your adoption -- revoked. And now here's the best part. And this is a deal breaker, my friend. I want to watch while you bring my son home to me, and I want to hear you say, "Michael, this is your father. You're going to be living with him now." You got that? If I don't hear that, if those words don't come out of your mouth, deal's off. And your sister is going to be mine, sharing my bed. Sonny: You'd better stop right there. A.J.: Oh, I hit a nerve? You held my son hostage in your life. Well, I guess now I'm holding courtney hostage in mine. You say I can't face you? Well, I'm facing you right now, aren't i? So you better face me. What's it going to be, my son or your sister? A.J.: If you want, you know, you can take your time, if you need a second. If not, let's go in there right now, drop the bomb on courtney. Hmm? I won't deny a thing. It's your call, man. Let's go. Jax: Look, Courtney, I know how confusing this is for you. Courtney: Not at all. I know exactly what I'm doing. I married A.J. Because I love him. What we have is separate from all those things that happened in the past. Sonny needs to accept that, and so do all the rest of you. So thanks for the concern, but I'm fine. It's really ok for you to go now. Jax: Well, you know, I would like to say good night to the reluctant host. A.J.: I believe Sonny has an announcement to make. Sonny: I'd like to have a word with courtney alone. A.J.: Sure. It's ok. Go ahead. Sonny: It won't take long. A.J.: Uh -- folks, I really want to apologize. I was a little unprepared, you know. I didn't expect all of you. But I'm -- I'm glad you're all here. Jax: A.J., Could I have a word with you? A.J.: What do you want, Jax? Jax: I heard the offer you made Sonny. Skye: What offer? Jax, what did A.J. Offer Sonny? Jax: You're despicable. Trying to trade that young woman for your son -- that's low. Skye: A.J., Did you really do that? You offered Courtney for Michael? A.J.: I'll do anything for my son. Courtney: This was my wedding dress. I put it on so that you could see. A.J.'s not trying to take advantage of me, Sonny. He's not going to hurt me. He's been wonderful. You don't need to protect me from him. And we don't need to fight. I don't want to fight with you, Sonny. But please just understand -- this is what I want. Sonny: I need to know one thing. You know, I -- I just want an honest answer. Courtney: Ok. Sonny: Do you love A.J.? Courtney: Do you think that i would've done this if i didn't? Yes. I love A.J. Courtney: He's -- he's gentle and he's caring and kind. And he makes me laugh. You know what it is? For the first time in my life, somebody -- a man -- he actually -- he respects me. He treats me like I'm somebody, like i deserve it. I'm so happy, Sonny. I -- I want you to be happy for me instead of telling me that i'm wrong. Alexis: Are we speaking? Ned: Speaking? Sure. If you're asking whether I trust you -- no, no, never again. Yeah, I -- I truly believed, even after everything that went wrong, that we'd built a lasting trust. I still believed in you. But I won't make that mistake again. Sonny: I'm glad everybody's here. Um -- I have an announcement to make. Sonny: I've had a chance to talk with my sister and my new brother-in-law. And certain things are clear to me now that weren't before. It's time to make concessions. I'd like to congratulate you on your marriage to my sister. Courtney: Sonny, do you really mean that? Sonny: All I want is for you to be happy, and A.J. Persuaded me that he loves you. He assured me that he's going to do everything possible to keep you well and safe. I'm taking him on his word. Now, I'm not going to lie to you. You know how I feel about him. But you love him. And I'm counting on him to devote his whole life to making you happy, right? [Courtney laughs] Sonny: So -- in honor of your wedding, I want to give you a reception. The owner of one of the main hotels on this island is an associate of mine, and I'm going to have him bring down some champagne, cake -- whatever my beautiful little sister wants on this special day. Courtney: Thank you, Sonny. This means everything to me. Sonny: All right. Courtney: Ok. I know I'm totally contradicting myself, but I would really like it if you would all stay. Ned: I'd be delighted to celebrate. And I hope you and Alan Jr. Will be very happy. Since I'll be probably making the toast on behalf of the family, I think you'd better tell me a little bit about yourself because Idon't really know you. I know A.J., But i don't know anything about you, so -- Jax: Well, congratulations, A.J. Looks like you just went straight from the frying pan into the fire. Sonny told you to go shove your deal, didn't he? Sonny: Pronto, por favor. Gracias. Alexis: I assume there was a reason for that performance? Sonny: A.J. offered to trade his new wife for michael. Alexis: Then you did the only thing you could. Sonny: What about courtney? I left her in A.J.'s hands. Alexis: She's a big girl. She can take care of herself. You were very smooth. You were very dignified. You did the right thing. You did the smart thing. You did it exactly right. Sonny: Then why does it feel like a knife in my gut?
