"I Think You Should Kill A.J."

(Sonny and Alexis are on his private jet on the way to St. Sophia to find A.J. and Courtney)

Pilot: We will start our initial descent in about 2 minutes, Mr. Corinthos.

Alexis: So, what now?

Sonny: I want you to protect Courtney, get her out of the way.

Alexis: I understand. You know, I’ve been thinking about this situation and I have a clear idea of what I think should happen. I think you should kill A.J.

Alexis: A.J.’s done terrible things to you. He’s worked his way into your sister’s life in a calculated manner. He convinced her to leave the country. I mean, he’s using your sister as revenge, and I think that he should pay the ultimate price. So I’m thinking that we need to come up with some sort of strategy here, and what I want to do is to argue crime of passion although that would require an impulsive act, and since you’re flying down to the island trying to track him down, it rings of premeditation, and we don’t want to go there, trust me on that. So I was thinking maybe we could say that you came down to get Courtney, bring her home, and things got out of control and even though you’re still tampering –

Sonny: I know what you’re trying to do.

Alexis: I’m trying to put together a defense which is what you pay me to do.

Sonny: You’re trying to make me think.

Alexis: That would be good. I mean, thinking would be a good thing instead of sitting there in silence, playing a game of solitaire. If I believed for one minute that you would kill A.J. I wouldn’t be here, I wouldn’t be representing you, and I wouldn’t be your friend. I believe you’re mad, you have a hideous temper, but I also believe that you’re an intelligent man with self-control and would never act in such a stupid and thoughtless manner.

Sonny: It was her birthday – my mother. I came home.

Alexis: Yeah, to Brooklyn?

Sonny: I used to come by and see her all the time.

Alexis: So, you didn’t live there?

Sonny: I left when I was 16. She asked me to. When I stopped letting Deke beat on me, when I fought back, it made it worse for her.

Alexis: I didn’t realize that you left home so young.

Sonny: I went to work for a man named Joe Scully. He ran the neighborhood.

Alexis: Sonny, where did you live?

Sonny: All over the place, but you know, I did all right. I used to come and visit, and Deke would still beat on her. She wouldn’t leave.

Alexis: It was her birthday?

Sonny: I found her on the kitchen floor dying because of Deke. Called the ambulance, took her to the hospital. She could barely talk. She had swollen eyes. She had a tube in her mouth. And I wanted to press charges, but she wouldn’t because she said he was a cop and nobody could stop him. She didn’t want him to get mad, that – that’s what she said. She didn’t want to get him mad again. “It’s going to be all right.” So I went to Joe Scully and I told him these things because I knew that Deke was going to kill her next time. And Mr. Scully said he’d take care of it. “Just go on and spend the night with 15 witnesses.”

Alexis: For an alibi?

Sonny: So I went to the Cerullos’. They had a lot of family, you know, and they closed down the block. They had a barbeque, and we played stickball most of the night. Next morning, Deke was found in an alley in Flatbush, a bullet to the head, and a bullet to the heart. He was disgraced, just like he deserved to be. I didn’t pull the trigger, but I took care of the situation.

Alexis: A.J. isn’t Deke.

Sonny: If I don’t take care of my family, what kind of man am I?

Pilot: We’re making our final descent, Mr. Corinthos. And we caught a break. We’re the last plane they are allowing to land today.

(Sonny and Alexis have arrived in St. Sophia. They are in A.J.’s villa. Sonny sees some flowers on a table, picks one up, and then sees some clothing of Courtney’s. He picks it up and looks at it. Alexis walks in)

Alexis: Perhaps you shouldn’t do anything until you know the facts.

(Sonny walks over to some closed doors)

(Sonny looks at Alexis before he open the door. When he does, he finds Courtney in bed with A.J.)

Courtney: (sits up in bed) Sonny.

A.J.: What the hell are you doing here?

A.J.: You have no right to be here.

Courtney: Sonny, how did you find us?

Alexis: (walks over to Courtney) Are you all right?

Courtney: No, I’m not! How could I be? This – this is a nightmare.

A.J.: It’s all right. I’ll take care of it, ok? It’s ok. Don’t worry. Come on, Sonny.

(Sonny and A.J. move to the balcony. Alexis and Courtney follow. Sonny grabs A.J. and holds him over the balcony)

Courtney: Sonny, no!

Courtney: No, Sonny! Stop! Sonny, don't! Don't do this!

A.J.: Think of the consequences.

Sonny: We argued. You slipped and fell, like Carly fell down the stairs. Only it's a railing. You reached out for help. I tried to help you. You know what I mean?

A.J.: Witnesses.

Sonny: There ain't no witnesses!

Alexis: Sonny, stop it!

Courtney: No, just don't -- don't hurt him!

Alexis: Stop it!

Sonny: There ain't no wit--

Courtney: He's my husband! We were married today. He's my husband.
