"This Has Nothing to Do With Sonny"
Kristina:
Oh, good. I was hoping you'd be home.
Alexis:
What?
Kristina:
All right, I have sworn off meddling, and I have tried to leave
this one alone, but i was sitting at this coffee house listening
to this truly pretentious singer/songwriter/poetess who is not at
all right for L&b. Anyways, I realized that, you know what?
This is family.
Alexis:
Kristina, what happened? Just get to the point, and how bad is it?
Kristina:
It's Nikolas.
Alexis:
What has he done?
Kristina:
Well, that's the thing. I'm not exactly sure, but I have a feeling
that it's awful.
Kristina:
... out of nowhere, Elizabeth storms in and she's furious.
Alexis:
About?
Kristina:
About all sorts of things -- bribery, false accusations, mind control.
Alexis:
Mind control.
Kristina:
Yeah, I think it had to do with the accident. Elizabeth accused
Nikolas of trying to make her remember it in a way that it didn't
really happen.
Alexis:
In other words, it was Gia's fault?
Kristina:
That's what it sounded like.
Alexis:
And what did Nikolas have to say?
Kristina:
Well, I didn't really hear because he took Elizabeth aside. But
I must say that he didn't look apologetic at all. Why don't you
look more surprised about this?
Alexis:
Because I've had my suspicions.
[Phone
rings]
Alexis:
Alexis Davis. You know what? Will you do me a favor and stop calling?
I have no idea where Helena cassadine is.
Kristina:
Where -- where are you going?
Alexis:
Helena's been captured.
Kristina:
I'm going with you.
Helena:
Well, are you appealing to my better nature? Your naivete is almost
endearing, but obviously you haven't been listening. I don't have
a better nature.
Roy:
You got that right.
Helena:
Well! The bastards are here. Come in! Come in -- no, the more, the
merrier. I just love these warm family moments played out for all
the world to see.
Kristina:
What did we just walk in on?
Alexis:
Nothing good.
Helena:
But I must ask for your forgiveness, so I want your collective nod
of approval for so shamelessly indulging your attention. I know
you're all waiting for me to confirm or to deny Lucky's story, and
for those of you who just came in, let me bring you up to speed.
You see, Lucky, rather shockingly, has accused Nikolas of facilitating
my escape in order to protect Gia from a charge of causing an automobile
accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. Oh, and there
are other things that I would truly love to tell you about my grandson
and the heroic lengths he went to on my behalf. I would love to
spin a tale of Cassadine legacy winning out over all odds and of
a son proudly carrying out his father's legacy. But sadly, I cannot
do that because my sad excuse for a grandson, this clone of Stefan,
doesn't have the fortitude. No, he's weak and pathetic, and he fills
my heart with shame. No, Nikolas, I finally take you at your word.
You are no Cassadine. The sad truth is you're not much at all. No,
Commissioner, though it pains me to say this, this ungrateful young
man had absolutely nothing to do to help me.
Lucky:
You lying witch!
Roy:
Hey, hey.
Taggert:
Hey, hey, calm down, calm down.
Lucky:
She's lying!
Taggert:
Then don't worry. The truth has a way of coming out one way or another.
Alexis:
As much as I find this floor show entertaining, I have to question
the relevance. Why is a convicted criminal allowed to spew her garbage
all over the squad room floor? And, more importantly, why are we
all standing around listening to it?
Luke:
Look, look, look, listen to me now. If anybody's going to choke
this bitch to death, it's going to be me. She's mine, not yours.
And if what you want is justice for Elizabeth, this is not the way
to get it.
Lucky:
Oh, you're damn right i want justice. I want him to pay for it,
too.
Luke:
Ok. You got it out in the open. It's part of the public record now.
The best thing you can do is take elizabeth and go somewhere away
from here before the both of us get arrested for assault. Go on.
Helena:
It does the heart good, doesn't it? Seeing the next generation pick
up where ours left off.
Kristina:
You're wrong, lady. I
am a part of the next generation, and I'm going to see to it that
all the poison in this family is as much a part of the past as you
are. You know what, Helena? Time has passed you by. Your reign of
terror officially ends tonight.
Helena:
Well, you're absolutely right. No. You're right. No, my reach doesn't
go very far through the bars of a prison window. Lieutenant, I'm
weary. I'd like to see my next accommodations.
Luke:
Well, let's go.
Taggert:
Excuse me?
Luke:
I'm going to be with you until you put her on the van to Pentonville.
Taggert:
You're not going anywhere.
Helena:
Well, you'd have to understand the personal nature of our relationship.
Taggert:
Yeah, well, I'd rather skip that. No, Luke, it's against procedure.
Luke:
Well, then shoot me because I'm not letting her out of my sight
until she's in federal custody!
Mac:
You know what, Lieutenant? The hell with procedure. He's earned
it. Besides, if you witness Helena getting on the van to pentonville,
maybe you'll get off my back.
Luke:
It's a promise, bubba.
Taggert:
Commissioner, if it's all the same with you, I'd rather stay here,
if you could let another officer do the transfer.
Mac:
No, you're handling it, Taggert.
Taggert:
But --
Mac:
You heard me.
Luke:
Thank you, Mac.
Helena:
Thank you for giving me a shoulder to rest on.
Luke:
God. She never gives up, does she?
Nikolas:
How did you know to come?
Alexis:
A reporter told me she'd been caught. Are you all right?
Nikolas:
Just ready to get out of here, that's all.
Gia:
Yeah, that makes two of us.
Nikolas:
So I'll call you?
Mac:
Not so fast. I'd like a word with you both.
Mac:
Have a seat, Nikolas.
Nikolas:
My brother and I are going through a difficult time. In fact --
Alexis:
Nikolas --
Nikolas:
When I look back, I realize that I should have seen this --
Alexis:
Please. Don't say anything. You haven't been charged with anything.
Why help them go on a fishing expedition?
Nikolas:
Alexis, I appreciate your advice, but I really have nothing to hide.
You see, commissioner, you know this. Helena has done terrible things
to Lucky. She's tried to change his mind, alter it at its foundation,
whatever you want to call it, and in some ways, I will say that
it worked. Lucky realized that he couldn't love Elizabeth anymore,
that he lost the ability.
Mac:
You know, I'll say this for the Cassadines -- you never show up
here without an outrageous story.
Gia:
It's all true. It's been killing Lucky. I mean, he has tried so
hard to get the feelings for her back.
Nikolas:
And he hasn't been able to, so he's angry. He has every right to
be. You know, my family has been at war with his for decades. People
have been hurt, lives ruined, even ended. When something like this
happens, he almost -- he has to blame me, you know?
Mac:
Because you're a Cassadine.
Nikolas:
If you want to say that, yeah, because I am. There's something else
i was hoping I wouldn't have to mention.
Alexis:
Then I'm going to strongly advise that you don't --
Nikolas:
Alexis, we are doing this my way!
Alexis:
Oh --
Nikolas:
My brother threatened me.
Mac:
The nature of the threat?
Nikolas:
Nonspecific. He just said that he would get me, and here we are.
Gia:
Baby, I know how much Lucky's attitude hurts you, but just don't
forget, I love him, too, ok? And we will find a way to get through
this.
Mac:
Thank you for your cooperation.
Nikolas:
Well, I'm always here if you need me.
Alexis:
Call me first.
Gia:
Thank you, Commissioner.
Nikolas:
Thank you.
Nikolas:
You need to do something. Lucky is out of control. He's having problems
with Elizabeth, it has nothing to do with me, and it's making him
nuts. I mean, come on, making these false accusations, trying to
get me arrested? That's overboard. He'll listen to you. Please speak
to him for me.
Laura:
I can't do that. I love you, Nikolas. I always will. But I cannot
go to Lucky for you.
Nikolas:
Why is that? I don't understand that. You're my mother. Why can't
you do that for me?
Laura:
Nikolas, you lied to me, right to my face. And don't make it any
worse by trying to deny it now. You lied and i know it.
Nikolas:
Forget it.
Alexis:
Nikolas, I did Helena's bidding for years. I don't want that to
happen to you.
Nikolas:
You don't believe me, do you? You think I'm guilty of all Lucky's
accusations.
Alexis:
If I had walked into this cold, I might believe that Lucky would
be trying to hurt you for some reason, but the truth is, Nikolas,
is I have been suspicious of Gia's role in this and your covering
it up for a long time.
Nikolas:
You know what? Maybe you want to believe that because then it would
make Sonny's sister innocent, right?
Alexis:
This has nothing to do with Sonny.
Nikolas:
On the contrary, Alexis, sure, it does. The man does whatever he
pleases. He lies, bribes, steals, god knows what else, and you know
what? No one questions him. No one stands here and gives him speeches
about not falling into the dark side. I don't -- it's just -- you
know what? You know what they do? They get the hell out of the way
or they -- in your case, I should say -- they jump in line behind
him to help him pull it off. Where do I sign up for that kind of
loyalty, because you know what? Right now at this moment, I could
really use it.
Alexis:
I kept your secret.
Nikolas:
Really, Alexis? You did? You never spoke to Sonny about Gia's accident
and you never told him what you thought I might have done to cover
it up?
Alexis:
I told him that if he pursued it, he and I would be on opposite
sides.
Nikolas:
Then you must not have meant as much to Sonny as you thought you
did because he has pursued it, Alexis. He looked Gia in the eye
and he told her that he would prove that she was lying. The man
offered to protect her if she came forward with the truth. Now,
I'm not sure how that's supposed to work, not that it matters. All
I'm saying is the point is that your Sonny, your precious Sonny,
scared her so much that she panicked! How far would you go? What
would you do to protect the person you love, Alexis? She was trying
to protect me. That's all she did, and that's all I did for her.
So don't stand before me giving me warnings about the perils of
Helena because I've been dealing with her all my life, including
the time that you've been living in Manhattan with your fake last
name pretending that we never existed!
Alexis:
I'm trying to help you.
Nikolas:
Then you know what? You're doing me a favor! Then you make Lucky
look like a posttraumatic stress case and stop asking inconvenient
questions about who did what, because you know what? It doesn't
matter! You are supposed to represent people regardless of guilt
or innocence. Don't stand here and take offense to that, Alexis,
because you know what? That's a good thing, especially when you're
dealing with the Cassadines. Now, good night.
Alexis:
We aren't finished.
Nikolas:
Oh, yes, we are. Good night. Go. Please. I want to be alone.
Alexis:
Ok.
Nikolas:
Thank you.
