"I Think You Stink"

Alexis: How do I feel about you?

Sonny: Just say it. Ok, wait. You know what? This is not fair because I'm making you do something uncomfortable when I think I have an idea of what you're trying to say.

Alexis: You do?

Sonny: Yeah.

Alexis: You -- oh.

Sonny: I asked you to help me with courtney and you tried, right, and I practically took your head off.

Alexis: Yeah, but that -- well --

Sonny: Ok, wait. Just let me -- sit down for a second.

Sonny: What happened when I was a kid is not something that I -- I tell people or I want them to know. Talking too much when I was growing up only made things worse. Sometimes it would get you smacked, and my mom and I -- we kind of had to, you know, keep our mouth shut. I don't want that for courtney and me. I want us to trust each other like you and Kristina. But it's not your job to make that happen. I should have never asked. I know that my life is a lot more complicated now since -- you know, since you agreed to be my lawyer, and if you're looking for a way out, then I understand.

[Knock on door]

Johnny: The super is here, something about your oven.

Alexis: Oh. Yeah. I got to take care of that. I'll be right back.

Sonny: Yeah, let me know when you hear, then. Yeah.

Alexis: Thanks.

Sonny: What's wrong with your oven?

Alexis: Control knob.

Sonny: Oh. Doesn't work?

Alexis: No, it was missing. I never had one.

Sonny: Hmm.

Alexis: So, where were we?

Sonny: I don't know. You -- I guess you were about to resign.

Alexis: I'm not quitting. I think I'm going to take a lesson from you, and I'm going to just keep my mouth shut.

Sonny: You're kidding, right?

Alexis: No.

Sonny: Well, whatever it is has got your eyes all, like, big and your heart racing. I can see the pulse in your neck. But you know something? You are too important to me, ok, to let this slide. So whatever you want, you know, if you need me to make something go away or make something happen, just say the word and it's yours.

Johnny: The super needs an oven thermometer to check the temperature?

Sonny: Uh-huh?

Johnny: Can he borrow yours?

Alexis: Yes.

Sonny: No. Go on.

Sonny: Why are you stalling?

Alexis: I'm not stalling.

Sonny: Hmm.

Alexis: I'm just waiting for the right words. Because, you know, words have consequences and -- especially when there's feelings involved. It's -- I mentioned how important it is to express your feelings. However, it is equally important that some feelings remain unexpressed. Because some thoughts need to be edited. I mean, not ever thought can be unedited. Not every feeling can be unedited. I mean, my sister has unedited thoughts and feelings and -- and I envy that on some level. But, for the most part, I'm glad Kristina's Kristina and I'm me. I'm happy being Alexis right now, status quo.

Johnny: Sonny --

Sonny: Johnny, do -- next time you interrupt us without us finishing here, you're fired.

Johnny: Got it.

Sonny: All right. You were saying?

Alexis: I said it. I said it. Really, I was just talking about that -- you know you'll communicate the way you communicate, I communicate the way that I communicate, and I think that we'll all just be fine with that. So that's it, I said it.

Sonny: Oh, you expect me to settle for that?

Alexis: No?

Sonny: No.

[Phone rings]

Sonny: I -- I don't want you to compromise on anything. I don't want you to hold back how you feel, ok? If -- if you think, you know, that I've done something else that's wrong, then you tell me. Or if you want --

[ring]

Sonny: More of, you know, perks, privacy, or maybe some time off, you just tell me. Just be honest.

[Ring]

Sonny: (picks up the phone and yells) Yeah?

Sonny: So, what's the spread? Yeah, yeah, just do it. Ok. Sorry about that.

[Knock on door]

Johnny: It's Zander. He says it's --

Sonny: Not now, Johnny! Ok --

Johnny: He says it's about Carly.

Sonny: Let him in. Sorry.

Zander: Sorry to interrupt.

Sonny: What's the problem?

Zander: Well, I hope there's not one, but Carly knows I've been watching her.

Sonny: How the hell did that happen?

Zander: I told her.

Sonny: Oh.

Zander: But, look, she's cool with it.

Sonny: Oh, you know that, huh? How long have you known carly, Zander?

Zander: Look, I'm telling you, Sonny, she's cool with it. And if anything, she trusts me more now.

Sonny: Not enough to listen to you, not enough to pay attention when you tried to stop her from doing something crazy and she blows her life apart, because now what's going to happen is every time you tell her to do something, she's going to think it's coming from me, and she's going to turn around and do the exact opposite of what you say.

Zander: I couldn't keep lying to her face.

Sonny: That's what you get paid to do! You don't work for Carly. You work for me.

Alexis: Zander has a point.

Zander: Hey, I don't need you to defend me right now. Look, I know that you don't like this, ok, but I've been honest with Carly and i've been with honest with you, and nothing has to change. I can still watch Carly, and she can know, and she really is ok with it.

Sonny: Zander, did you understand when I hired you that you do what I say when I say and how I say to do it?

Zander: Yes.

Sonny: Ok. So when I give an order, i have my reasons, and I don't have to explain to you why I want my orders followed.

Zander: Yes.

Sonny: So did you not hear when i told you I do not want Carly to know?

Zander: What I heard you say is to be Carly's friend.

Sonny: Right.

Zander: That means what she thinks and feels matters.

Sonny: Mm-hmm.

Zander: I thought that mattered to you, too.

Sonny: Ok. Right. Well, what doesn't matter to me now is you. You don't work for me anymore. Not in the warehouse, not anywhere because I cannot trust you. Do you understand what i'm saying? You call Benny, and you pick up your last check, and you get out.

Zander: Wait a second, sonny. Look, you don't understand. This is not --

Sonny: Get out!

Zander: Yeah, I get it. I get it. I'm only sorry that you can't.

Sonny: (on the phone) Benny. Hey. Do me a favor. Cash zander out. I don't want him back on my property again. Yeah, thanks. All right.

Alexis: I'm ready --

Sonny: Oh. Ok.

Alexis: To express my feelings.

Sonny: Mm-hmm?

Alexis: I don't need to tell you this because you know that I loathe that Zander works for you.

Sonny: Mm-hmm.

Alexis: I tried to convince him not to, I gave him all kinds of alternatives, but he wasn't interested because he's loyal to you, Sonny. So loyal that he will follow your code and come over here and tell you the truth about something.

Sonny: Well --

Alexis: How do you repay him? You treat him like an incompetent, and then you fire him without giving it a second thought.

Sonny: Zander didn't follow my orders. What do you want me to tell you? He didn't.

Alexis: Why do you think Mike didn't tell you about Courtney? Why do you think Carly didn't tell you about the F.B.I.? Because you are incapable of making allowances for anybody else's weaknesses. Forget about weaknesses. You're incapable of making allowances for anybody's choices that they have the right to make. You go on and on and on and on about your holy truth, how important the truth is to you. You want the truth? I'll give you the truth, although, quite frankly, you really don't handle it very well. And given the fact that you have assigned zander to lie to Carly for you makes you one big fat hypocrite. You want to know how i feel about you right now? I think you stink.
