"I'm Telling You the Truth. Maybe You Should Listen"

Alexis: I'm with you. You know that.

Sonny: Yeah. I appreciate everything you've done for me and Courtney, but this isn't like you and Kristina.

Alexis: How do you know that? It's close.

Sonny: She grew up happy.

Alexis: How do you know that?

Sonny: Because I can see it in her face. She trusts everybody. She gives everybody the benefit of the doubt. Not like Courtney. I mean, why would she when, you know, Mike disappeared and left her with Janine?

Alexis: Technically, Mike didn't disappear. She was taken from him.

Sonny: Now, now, now. Look, don't start with that nonsense.

Alexis: Well, you know what? It's not going to do you any good by projecting your own pain onto Courtney.

Sonny: I don't have to put my junk on Courtney. She's been through a rough life as it is. I can see it in her face when mike made her tell them to leave.

Alexis: You can't blame him for what --

Sonny: Yes, I can. That's why I wanted to throw him out first so Courtney wouldn't have to. I know how it works, chapter and verse. He comes to you with tears in his eyes. He says "I'm sorry, I love you." And if you don't give in, if you don't take him back and pretend like it never happened, then it's your fault because you're cold, unforgiving, you're trapped in the past. It's never mike's fault because he's offering his love, and if you don't take it, you're screwed up. Now, I've -- sorry. I've been listening to his crap my whole life. Courtney shouldn't have to.

Alexis: You see, that's not up to you. You can't protect her because she has the right to make her own decision. And the sooner that you accept that, the easier it will be for her to trust you.

Sonny: You're not helping me out.

Alexis: I'm not telling you what you want to hear. I'm telling you the truth. Maybe you should listen.

Sonny: You don't back down, do you?

Alexis: Not from you.

Sonny: Good.

[Knock on door]

[Sonny sighs]

Alexis: Now, if that's Mac -- I'm going to do something -- I don't know. I'll think of something by the time I open up the door.

Carly: I need to speak to Sonny.

Alexis: Come on in.

Carly: When you weren't home, I took the chance that you were here.

Sonny: Ok. What do you need?

Carly: I'm in trouble and I need your help.

Sonny: I'm kind of in the middle of something.

Carly: It's important.

Sonny: Ok, can you wait across the hall and I'll be there in a second?

Carly: No, I can't wait.

Carly: I need to speak to Sonny in private. And when I'm done, you can have him back.

Alexis: Ok.

Carly: I don't want to say this in front of anyone else.

Sonny: All right. Come on, let's go. Alexis, can you excuse us?

Alexis: Sure.

Carly: Does Alexis ever leave you alone?

Sonny: Well, Courtney's staying here. She's upstairs, and I don't want to fight with you. So whatever you need, tell me so i can fix it.

Carly: I was at my club tonight and a guy came in and he tried to shake me down.

Sonny: Did he hurt you?

Carly: No.

Sonny: Did he touch you?

Carly: No.

Sonny: Come on, be honest with me. Did he lay a hand on you?

Carly: No, I am fine. Not a scratch on me.

Sonny: Well, you shouldn't have been there alone.

Carly: Zander was just moving the car.

Sonny: Well, Zander shouldn't have left you. Your club's in a bad part of town, and that idiot Jax hasn't put a security system in there, so what --

Carly: Ok, look, it's my club, and if there's no security system in there, then I'm the idiot.

Sonny: Ok, all I'm saying is sometimes you don't think. All you think about is what you want to get, and you don't think about what could go wrong. All I'm saying is you could have been hurt, and i don't want that to happen.

Carly: Ok, listen -- will you just listen to me?

Sonny: No, no, will you just listen to me, ok? I've already backed away. I've done what you wanted. You don't have a guard on you. I'm not making you have a driver. I'm leaving you completely unprotected because you said that's what you needed. Ok? So you want to be independent. That doesn't mean that you risk your life or take serious chances out there, like being in the middle of nowhere when some pig tries to grab you and stuff.

Carly: Ok, I am fine. I am fine, ok? I'm safe, but Zander's not, ok? He is headed for some real trouble.

Sonny: Did the guy have a name?

Carly: Rosco.

Sonny: Did you tell him who you were?

Carly: I have never been shy about telling people that I am mrs. Corinthos to intimidate them. But you know what? This guy didn't seem to care. He said he'd seen you out with Alexis and that you were looking after her now.

Sonny: Rosco never was very bright.

Carly: Well, then Zander came in and he told him to take a hike, and he did.

Sonny: You should have called me.

Carly: I thought that mentioning your name was enough and that that crack about Alexis was just to hurt me. But then he had this guy --

Sonny: Rosco sent muscle to work Zander over as a warning.

Carly: How do you know all this?

Sonny: I know how a protection racket works, Carly. And I know that Rosco is arrogant enough to try it on someone who's close to me. What I don't understand is, why didn't you call me the second he was out the door?

Carly: Because Zander said that he wanted to handle this on his own. He thinks that that is what is expected of him. So I didn't call you. And I didn't make him go to the hospital. And I feel badly now for even being here because Zander's going to think that I don't respect him. But that guy Rosco -- I could tell he is dangerous. You know, I even think he got off on threatening your ex-wife. I don't know, now I think that Zander's gone to find him and deal with this on his own.

Sonny: You were right. You were right to talk to me. Come on. Alexis?

Alexis: Everything all right?

Sonny: Uh -- I got to -- I got to do something. I'll be back. Can you make sure Carly gets home?

Carly: I'm fine.

Sonny: No, no, I don't want you going to the lobby until the car is ready, ok?

Carly: Ok.

Sonny: Unless you want me to call Max and have him --

Carly: No, ok -- look, I can call. I've got a cell phone. It's me, I'll make a call. Would you just go? Make sure that -- just find him, make sure he's ok.

Sonny: Ok. You're all right, though? All right.

Alexis: Don't you ever get tired of this?

Carly: Of what?

Alexis: Getting into trouble and having Sonny have to come to the rescue?

[Alexis sighs]

Carly: Maybe you don't know Sonny as well as you think.

Alexis: Aren't we supposed to be getting you home?

Carly: You have no idea what's really important to him.

Alexis: I think I know what's important to you.

Carly: I don't think so. But then again, I don't really care what you think of me.

Alexis: All righty, then. Why don't we call that cab?

Carly: You know what? I can get myself home. Don't bother.

(Carly leaves and then there is a knock at the door)

[end scene]

Alexis: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to answer the door like that. I just thought you were someone else.

Ned: Carly Corinthos, perhaps? I passed her getting off the elevator.

Alexis: It's late. What's up?

Ned: I know it's late. Sorry. Um -- I just -- I really need to talk to you about something.

Alexis: Oh.

Ned: And it can't wait. It's about your sister.
