"Is Sonny Your Boyfriend or Something?"

Janine: I haven't heard from Courtney all morning. How is she?

Sonny: Courtney's fine. I checked in with Slexis earlier, and she was asleep.

Janine: Probably still mad at me about this whole Quartermaine mess.

Sonny: Well, she should be.

Janine: Look, I cut a few corners, ok? Who hasn't? I was raising her on my own. We were -- I didn't have any help. I did what I had to do to make a life for her.

Sonny: You know what? I've heard all this before. It's getting old.

Janine: Good.

Sonny: Yeah.

Janine: Glad you listened. Courtney's my daughter, and all Ii want to do is take her home.

Sonny: I'd like you to stick around for a little while.

Janine: You'd like?

Sonny: Yeah.

Janine: Do I have a say in the matter?

Sonny: You can say whatever you want -- after you've heard my offer.

[Door opens]

Kristina: Who are you? What did you do to that?

Courtney: I was just looking at it.

Kristina: Oh. This was a gift from my brother.

Courtney: I didn't break it on purpose. Look, I'll pay for it and I'll just get out of here, ok?

Kristina: Wait a second. I know you. You -- you were at the grill the other night. You were the one that sent the Quartermaines into a frenzy. What's your name?

Alexis: Courtney Matthews. She's Sonny's sister, and she's going to be staying with us for a while.

Courtney: I don't think that's such a good idea anymore.

Alexis: Courtney, don't worry about it. I didn't like it anyway.

Courtney: She said it was a gift from your brother.

Alexis: Yes, it was a gift from my brother. It was a very generous gift. It was just -- it was ugly, all right? He's a wonderful guy, I love him dearly, but his taste is strange. You should see the way he decorated his place. This is my sister, the one that I told you about.

Kristina: Hi. Nice to meet you --

Courtney: You, too.

Kristina: Again.

Courtney: Yeah.

Kristina: It's hard, I know. Everything that you thought you knew suddenly doesn't seem to apply anymore. I get it.

Courtney: Two weeks ago, I was at my mom's apartment. The whole place could fit in this living room. I could go back to that, no problem. It was easy, comfortable.

Alexis: And this is different.

Courtney: That's an understatement. For one thing, Ii just found out that my father is alive. And, on top of that, I'm suddenly somebody's sister.

Alexis: Maybe that's not such a bad thing. Courtney, maybe you should ask yourself, when life offers you something more, maybe you should take it.

Sonny: You came here for money. That's still an option.

Janine: Oh, an offer like that usually has strings attached.

Sonny: I want to get to know my sister. And I'd rather do that without separating her from her mother. So if you stay a few more weeks, I'll make it worth any inconvenience.

Janine: How worth it?

Sonny: If you stay longer, I'll help you find a job.

Janine: What if I decided that i want to go back to Atlantic City?

Sonny: When Idecide it's time for you to leave, then you'll have a better job.

Janine: Oh, I see -- when you decide.

Sonny: You can leave now if you want, Janine. It's --

Janine: You know that I do not want to leave without courtney. I don't have a lot of friends in this town. Edward knows the truth. He's rich. He's powerful. He knows a lot of people.

Sonny: So do I.

Janine: Yeah, but what if he decides --

Sonny: I agreed to look after you and your daughter while you were here. That means taking on any problems you may have as well. Are you satisfied?

Janine: Almost.

Courtney: I'm not sure what to do. This is all happening so fast.

Kristina: Well, in my experience, decisions that could possibly affect the rest of your life should be made over something hot, like coffee.

Alexis: That's a good idea. We were all up late last night, so good idea.

Kristina: I'll explain the whole new year's thing to you, I promise, right after coffee, which I should make now, alexis, because we want Courtney to stay here. We don't want her running out of the building screaming.

Alexis: That's a good point. Thanks.

Courtney: Weren't you two separated for a long time?

Kristina: Most of our lives.

Courtney: But you guys -- you get along so well. Did that happen, like, right away?

Alexis: Courtney, your situation is different. Sonny is -- he's cautious. So are you, and it's understandable because this is a shock to both of you. But he's a good man, and I would imagine he'd be a very good brother if you'd just give him the chance. And I happen to know that this means a lot to him.

Courtney: What's it mean to you?

Alexis: What do you mean, what does it mean?

Courtney: I was just wondering -- what do you get out of it if I stay? Is Sonny your boyfriend or something?

Sonny: I'll accommodate you for Courtney's sake -- within reason -- but you got nothing I need, so don't push it.

Janine: Sonny, if Courtney and I stay here, mike is going to find a way to weasel his way back into her life, and I'm not going to have that.

Sonny: Courtney knows her father's alive. You do not get to decide whether she sees him.

Janine: No, this is not a negotiable point, Sonny.

Sonny: Then leave! Courtney will stay here. She'll see Mike whenever she wants. And you're right -- every chance he gets, he'll try to work her by apologizing, saying he's sorry, how much he's changed. Now, now that you know all that, do we have a deal or not?

Alexis: Sonny is not my boyfriend. I have no idea why you would think that.

Courtney: I was just asking. How come you sound so defensive?

Kristina: Oh, I wouldn't go there if I were you.

Courtney: What'd I say?

Kristina: Well, you know how when you like a guy but you don't want anyone knowing that you like that guy? You don't even want the guy knowing you like that guy?

Courtney: Uh, yeah.

[Knock on door]

[Kristina and Courtney giggle]

Kristina: Hey, Sonny. Come on in. We were just talking about you.

Sonny: How's Courtney doing?

Alexis: Well, she was a little uncomfortable at first, but my sister's put her at ease -- in her own unique way.

Kristina: Coffee's ready. I didn't mean to interrupt anything.

Janine: Mr. Corinthos has made us a very generous offer.

Sonny: Yeah. I thought, you know, we could spend some time together.

Janine: So I've decided I'm going to stay for a while as sonny's guest. Now, you can either stay here with Ms. Davis and her sister or you can come to the house and stay with me.

Courtney: What about my father? Does he fit into this?

Janine: If you want to see Mike, I won't stand in your way.

Courtney: I don't know what I want.

Sonny: Take all the time you need.

Courtney: All right. I'll stay for now -- here, if Alexis is cool with that.

Alexis: I'm fine with that.

Kristina: Well, now that it looks like we've got that settled, I think I'm going to go get something to eat. Sonny, you going to stay?

Sonny: Nice work.

Alexis: I was trying to do you a favor. But if you insist, I'll be happy to bill you for it.

[Knock on door]

Alexis: Oh. Lieutenant.

Taggert: Ms. Davis.

Alexis: What is it that my client hasn't done this time?

Taggert: Well, actually, I'm not here for Mr. Corinthos this time. I'm here for a Janine Matthews.

Janine: What do you want?

Taggert: Ms. Matthews, I'm afraid you're under arrest. I believe I'm also looking for that young woman right there, too. So if the two of you just come along with me --
