Baby Love
from Soap Opera Weekly

Soap actors are used to getting heaps of praise and attention from viewers, but some are equally in awe of their fans.

"They should never be underestimated. They're a force to be reckoned with," asserts Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, General Hospital) "I don't like using the word fan because it's derived from fanatic. - and these women are amazing. They get things done."

She's not kidding. Two fan groups - the pro-Sexis "Just Breathe" and the Nexis group "The Gate" threw a virtual baby shower online for Grahn's character, Alexis. All gifts were donated to St. Anne's, a Los Angeles-based organization that provides assistance to at-risk pregnant or parenting adolescents.

"These viewers are working, productive women and mothers, and they raised $6,000 worth of all kinds of baby things that went to St. Anne's," marvels Grahn. "We're of the same cloth. They just happen to watch the show and love it."
