of View Series Part 5 -- 'Gasms and seconds (Ellie's POV) Guess what? Mommy had the babies today! I am so excited. Daddy took me and MJ to see them and they are super duper cute. One is named Chloe. She was mommy’s friend who had to go to heaven. The other is named Stefanie, for mommy’s brother who lives way far away now. ‘Course MJ can’t say Stefanie so we are gonna call her Annie. We have lots of nicknames in our family. I told that to daddy and he said I was pretty ‘servant for someone my age. Mommy said I’m ‘servant for ANY age. She was smiling when she said it, so I guess she likes me being ‘servant. Anyway, I think mommy and daddy were surprised when they found out they were gonna have two babies. I was with them at the doctor’s the day they found out, cause mommy thought it was good for me to be involved with everything about her having a baby. Daddy said not EVERYTIHNG. I don’t know what he meant ‘bout that, mommy said she would tell me someday. I remember the doctor was listening to mommy’s tummy and all of a sudden he looked at mommy and said “uh oh.” Mommy said “uh oh, what?” Then she got this scared look on her face, but the doctor said everything was fine. Then mommy said, “then why did you say uh oh?” The doctor said that it was ‘cause he heard more than one heartbeat. Mommy asked him how many exactly he heard and daddy said something about if he heard as many heartbeats as mommy had something called ‘gasms they were in trouble. Don’t know what those are but mommy told him he wasn’t funny and to remember that I was in the room. She has to tell daddy that a lot. The doctor told them that he heard two heartbeats. I asked what that meant and daddy said it meant that our family was about to get a LOT bigger. Mommy said she was about to get a lot bigger too. They told me that they were going to have two babies ‘stead of just one; that two babies is called twins.
Mommy said there was no way she was going to stay in bed for the next four and a half months and daddy said she would stay there if had to tie her there. The doctor told her that she had to stay in bed for the babies to come safe. She didn’t look very happy, but she said she knew it was for the best. Then the doctor told them that they also would not be able to have and then he spelled S-E-X until after the babies were born either. This made daddy REALLY mad. The doctor said that it could cause ‘tractions and so they would just have to wait. They weren’t fooling me by spelling it. I knew what that word was and I don’t blame daddy for being mad. I would be really mad if I couldn’t have seconds either. Then mommy said daddy better get used to not having seconds cause after this she was never having seconds with daddy ever again. They kind of had a fight and were yelling at each other a little bit. Then I got scared ‘cause they were yelling and started to cry and the doctor said this stress was not good for the babies and daddy told the doctor to take his stress and do something with it. I sat in the front with Uncle Johnny on the ride home. Mommy hated being in bed and rest. She couldn’t go to court and argue with the other ‘torneys. She also couldn’t pick up MJ and me, and she said that made her really sad. She couldn’t go and see her friends and she didn’t like having to wear jammies all the time. The worst part for mommy was since she couldn’t get out of bed, daddy got to pick out everything she ate and drank, which made mommy really mad, cause that meant she couldn’t sneak popcorn when daddy was gone. I told mommy that I would sneak her some popcorn, and that made her really excited, but I told her I had a ‘dition. I told her that if I sneaked her the popcorn, she had to let me watch one of those movies where the people wrestled. Mommy got kind of mad, but then she kind of laughed and said I really was my father’s daughter. She asked me why exactly I liked those movies and I said ‘cause I liked how the people in them kissed like mommy and daddy do. I said I ‘specially liked the one where the man with the mustache carried the lady in the long red dress up the big staircase, cause I saw daddy do that to mommy one time and she looked like she liked it. Mommy got ‘barassed when I said that, but she let me watch the movie after I got the popcorn. We were having a good time watching that movie and eating popcorn, but then daddy came home and caught us and he threw away all the popcorn in the house. I tried to cry and look at daddy the way I do when I really want something, but daddy said this time it wasn’t gonna work. He got onto mommy for getting out of bed, but I told daddy that I was the one who made the popcorn. He said I wouldn’t have done it if mommy hadn’t made me, and I said that I was the one who asked her if I could bring the popcorn if she would let me watch the movies that he let me watch when mommy was gone. Then him and mommy got in a little “tiff” as mommy says. I had to watch lots of movies with that dumb dinosaur in them after that. The rest of the time mommy was in bed, we read lots of books and played lots of games, but mommy was pretty cranky at the end. Her tummy was super big and we had to be real careful when we hugged mommy, so we wouldn’t hurt the babies. Mommy didn’t get to have these babies the way she had MJ and me. She had a surgy and they took the babies out of mommy’s tummy in an op’ration. When me and MJ went to the hospital today, mommy looked really different, but she also had a big smile on her face, and said she was happy. MJ was so funny. He just kept running around the room yelling “babies” real loud. I wanted to kiss mommy but I was afraid that I would hurt her. Then the nurse had to look at mommy’s tummy and when I saw it I got sick and throwed up all over the floor. That made me cry and then MJ started crying cause I was crying and the babies got scared cause of all the noise and THEY started crying. Mommy and daddy were laughing and then mommy looked at daddy and said “and you still want to have” and then she spelled seconds again “after this?” Daddy winked at mommy and said “hey hey.” I think that means yes. Daddy must really like mommy’s seconds more than I thought he did.
