23 - Over the Top
Alexis
swung her car into the empty parking lot at Luke's and slammed the
gear into park. She looked over at the entrance to the place and
let out an audible sigh, drumming her fingers in an irritated manner
on the steering wheel. After a few more minutes she rolled her eyes,
grabbed the keys from the ignition and threw open the door of her
BMW. She steeled herself and walked with purpose toward the door,
pulling it open with more force that necessary. She was instantly
assaulted with the smell of stale beer and the sounds of B.B. King
wailing out of the Jukebox. She stopped just inside the door and
stood with her hands on her hips, rolling her eyes once more at
the sight in front of her. Tables were thrown haphazardly around
the room, chairs were overturned, broken glass glistened up at her
from the floor and in the middle of it was Sonny and Luke. Both
men were hunched forward with their hands on their knees panting,
Luke appeared to have a trickle of blood emanating from the corner
of his mouth, while Sonny looked as though he was going to have
one hell of a shiner in the morning. She cleared her throat and
both men raised their heads and looked at her.
Luke
smiled and turned his head to Sonny. "Mom's here...we're in
trouble," he said through ragged breaths.
"Shove
it Luke," Sonny spat at him and turned his head to Alexis.
"We were just..."
"Can't
you two get along for two minutes?" Alexis scolded. Luke placed
a hand on a nearby table and righted himself to a standing position.
"Natasha, darling, we were just settling this thing the old
fashioned way."
"The
old fashioned way?" Alexis questioned with annoyance.
Sonny
stood upright and moved towards her. "Lucas here got a little
mouthy while you were out."
Alexis
shook her head. "See...I knew this was a bad idea," she
pointed a finger and wagged it between the two men. "The two
of you should never try and do anything together," she held
up her hand. "I couldn't have been gone for more than half
an hour. What the hell happened?"
Luke
laughed and moved to Alexis. He placed a hand on her back and guided
her over to a chair gesturing for her to sit.
"I'll
stand, thank you."
"Suit
yourself darlin'. Would you like a drink, Tash?"
Alexis
raised an eyebrow at him and was about to turn him down. She looked
at the two disheveled men. "I'll take a rum."
Luke
clapped his hands together. "Rum it is my dear." He started
to walk away but stopped and turned back. "And for you, mini
don?"
Sonny's
face twisted into a sneer. "What did you call me?" he
said, advancing towards Luke.
Alexis
stepped in front of him, placing her hands on his chest. "He'll
have scotch," she called over her shoulder.
Luke
nodded and walked to the other side of the bar to pour the drinks.
Alexis
turned back to Sonny, who was now way too close for comfort for
being in the company of a third party. "What is it with you
two?" she asked in a whisper.
Sonny
shrugged and gave her a lopsided grin. "Boys will be boys."
"I'm
not a referee, Sonny."
Sonny
chuckled. "Bringing sports into this?"
Alexis
looked at him. "What?" she asked quizzically.
Sonny
glanced at Luke but saw he had disappeared into the back room. "You
know..," he said as he stepped closer, his body making contact
with hers.
"Referee...sports.
It is Sunday."
Alexis
narrowed her gaze. "Right now Mr. Corinthos I'm definitely
not interested in...sports."
Sonny
licked his lips and ran a hand down her side. "I bet I can
change that."
Alexis
felt her resolve weakening. "I bet you could, but like I said,
right now I'm not interested."
Sonny
raised and eyebrow. "Is it because of Spencer? I could get
rid of him."
Alexis'
eyes widened. "Don't you dare."
Sonny
smiled seductively and leaned closer to her face. Alexis readied
herself for his kiss but was disappointed when Luke re-entered the
room holding a tray with their drinks on it. "Here we are kids."
Alexis
and Sonny moved away from one another and took seats at the nearest
table. Luke joined them and plopped the drinks on the table. "Drinks
are served," he said as he downed one of the several shots
that he had poured for himself. "Now I'm ready to do business."
Alexis
looked at the two men. "Would you mind telling me what all
the fisticuffs were about?"
Sonny
and Luke just stared at her and then looked at one another, both
shrugging.
Alexis
slammed her palm down on the table. "Why were you two idiots
fighting?"
Both
men sat up. "Oh that," Luke said. "Well, we all know
that the pint size king of the docks here has a temper."
"Oh
bull Luke, you started it and you know it," Sonny retorted.
"I
beg to differ, oh vertically challenged one."
Sonny
stood banging his fist on the table. "That's it...you're dead."
Luke
stood as well and got into Sonny's face. "Go ahead dough boy...take
your best shot."
Alexis
rolled her eyes once more and stood up grasping the drink tray in
her hand. She banged it on the table several times until both men
looked at her.
"Are
you two through? Is the testosterone fest over with?"
Sonny
and Luke looked back to one another and shrugged.
"Good,"
Alexis said as she pulled papers from her briefcase and handed one
set to each of the men. "I think you'll both find these are
in order and quite sufficient to both of your needs." She glanced
up at both of them.
"Though
why you two want to enter into a business venture together is beyond
me." She stood up. "Look them over and sign them."
Luke
stood and stretched. "Well folks, I'd love to stay and play
but I needs to be picken up my sweet Lulu from her gramma's,"
he said as headed for the door.
"Hey
half stick...you remember how to shut off the lights right?"
Sonny
nodded solemnly. "I remember. Oh and Spencer?"
"Yes?"
Luke drawled.
Sonny
gave him a shit-eating grin. "Careful walking home so close
to the waterfront....you never know..."
Luke
saluted. "One foot in front of the other, my brother,"
he turned his gaze to Alexis. "Oh Tasha, you and the mini mambo
king over there try not to mess up any flat hard surfaces in the
joint...my cleaning crew hates that." Alexis' eyes bugged from
her head. "Lucas Lorenzo Spencer," she shouted. Luke winked
and backed out of the door leaving Sonny and Alexis alone. Alexis
stomped to the bar where she perused the bottles looking for rum.
"That
man is infuriating."
Sonny
followed her. "Well, he is your friend."
Alexis
stopped pouring and set the bottle down on the bar. "Are you
planning on taking out an ad in the Port Charles Gazette?"
"I
have no idea what you're talking about," Sonny said as he climbed
up onto a barstool and leaned in close to Alexis.
Alexis
raised her eyebrows. "Oh no? Just how did Luke know that we
might mess up any...flat hard surfaces...as he so delicately put
it?"
"You
think I discuss my sex life with Luke Spencer?"
Alexis
tapped her hand on the bar. "Let's see...my sister knows, Jason
now knows..," she pointed to Sonny. "I suspect that Ned
has his suspicions but who knows, he can be a little slow sometimes
and now the biggest mouth to hit Port Charles knows that we're sleeping
together." She gave Sonny a look. "Is there anyone I'm
leaving out? Did you let the five families in on our affair de
Coeur at your last meeting."
Sonny
looked perplexed. "Affair de...?"
"Coeur...affair
de Coeur," Alexis helped him. "It's French."
"That
much I gathered. What does it mean?"
Alexis
opened her mouth and stopped as she realized what it did mean...Affair
of the heart, and she wasn't about to let Sonny in on that.
She shook her head. "Never mind about that."
She
picked up her glass and swirled the liquid around in a circle. "Why
were the two of you fighting?" Sonny shrugged.
"Well,
you left us here alone while you went back to the penthouse to get
the contracts that you forgot," he said accusingly.
Alexis
blushed. "Well I wouldn't have forgotten if someone wasn't
so busy distracting me while I was trying to gather my paper work
for this meeting."
Sonny
grinned. "I told you we had to get out of bed."
Alexis
nodded. "Yes, yes you did. You also climbed on top of me and..,"
she lowered her head and waved a hand. "Well, you know what
you did."
Sonny's
smile widened so that the dimples were at maximum force. "Yeah
well, anyway Luke started asking inappropriate questions."
Alexis'
head shot up. "Such as?"
Sonny
took a sip of his scotch. "You don't want to know."
"Yes,
yes I do. What did he ask?"
Sonny
raised an eyebrow. "Well, he asked if your legs really did
go all the way up."
Alexis
balled up her fist. "That man is such a Cretan."
"Yeah,
well there were others, but I defended your honor."
Alexis
deadpanned him. "How noble of you. So you swung at him?"
Sonny gave her a hurt look. "You always think the worst of
me," he said putting a hand to his chest. "I just threatened
to swing at him and he said I couldn't hit the side of a barn with
an elephant and we argued and finally Luke challenged me to an arm
wrestling match."
Alexis
gave him an intrigued look. "Arm wrestling match?"
"Yeah,
you know..," he put his elbow on the table and flexed his hand.
"Arm wrestling."
Alexis
laughed. "Well who won?"
Sonny
swung his head from side to side. "Hard to tell...it kinda...it
kinda escalated into a full contact sport," he said as he swung
an arm out indicating the overturned tables and broken glass.
Alexis
shook her head. "Arm wrestling...really."
Sonny
looked at her. "What's wrong with arm wrestling?"
"It's
barbaric."
Sonny's
face perked up. "Barbaric?" he said in a come hither voice.
Alexis
sighed. "Down boy."
Sonny
panted a couple of times for effect and then smiled. "You know,
arm wrestling is considered a sport."
"Really,
I had no idea..," she said and turned her head. "Nor did
I care," she finished under her breath.
Sonny
spread his hands over the table. "Hey, it takes a lot of strength
and endurance to be an arm wrestler."
Alexis
rolled her eyes. "Oh please ... enlighten me."
"Well...here,"
he patted the table. "Put your arm up here."
Alexis
looked at him for a moment and then acquiesced placing her left
elbow on the table, mirroring his actions.
"A
lefty, all right, I can work lefty," he said as he took position
and grasped her hand in his. "Okay, the first move is the hook.
It's the most common move in arm wrestling."
"Oh
boy," Alexis said half-heartedly.
"Okay,
now curl your wrist as hard as you can and press down with your
arm and your body weight."
Alexis
did as he told her, rising off of her seat a little.
"Uh,
uh...stay seated. Use your upper body," he said seductively
looking at her eyes.
She
blushed and tried as hard as she could to move Sonny's arm.
"Okay,
if I break a nail you are so buying my next manicure."
Sonny
smiled. "You got it counselor. Now..," he said relaxing
his grip. "The next move is the top roll. With this move you
are trying to put pressure on your opponent's fingers, causing them
to open up. Walk your fingers over mine and use back pressure for
this move."
Alexis
tensed and tried again with all of her might to move Sonny's arm.
"I'm
never going to put you down so why don't we forget about this lesson."
"Now,
now...would you rather we go back to my place and find a sport on
the television?"
Alexis
sighed. "What next?"
"Okay
the next move is the press. This move you are trying to get your
opponent's palm to face up towards the ceiling," he looked
up at her. "You use your chest for this move."
"My
chest."
"That's
right."
Alexis
raised an eyebrow and cocked her head. "Okay," she said
firmly and yanked her hand out of his.
"What
are you doing?" Sonny questioned.
Alexis
smiled and pushed her suit jacket off of her shoulders. She locked
eyes with him and brought her hands up, undoing the first couple
of buttons on her blouse.
Sonny
bit his lip and swallowed hard. "Um...I don't think..."
Alexis'
head snapped up. "Good, I don't want you to think. I want you
to watch."
Sonny's
breathing stuttered as he watched her undo the rest of her buttons
and push her blouse from her body leaving her revealed in a black
lacy bra. "Uh, Lex what's going on?"
Alexis'
grin grew wide and she narrowed her eyes. "I'm going to use
my chest...like you said."
Sonny
stood up and licked his lips as Alexis stood up and reached for
the front clasp on her bra. They locked eyes and Sonny couldn't
contain himself any longer. He grabbed the edge of the table and
tossed the object aside with a loud crash. He moved to her and gently
took hold of her wrists. "Let me," he said as he undid
the clasp and brought his mouth slowly to hers. He pulled out of
their kiss and looked around the room and then back to her. "Wanna
mess up some hard flat surfaces?"
Alexis
bit the corner of her lower lip. "I think it's the least Luke
deserves, don't you?"
