An
Eye for an Eye
by Cowgirl
part
10
Lorenzo
waited at the bluff as he watched his employee walk stealthily toward
him. The man climbed the last few steps and stopped. "Boss,"
he said emphatically.
"Everything
is arranged I take it?" he asked picking at a finger nail.
The
man nodded his beefy head. "All set. I followed every detail.
I know what Miss Davis is doing all day today, tomorrow..."
"Good,"
Lorenzo interrupted. "And the child?"
The
man reached in his pocket and took out a small pad, flipping a few
pages. "According to this she's supposed to drop the kid off
with the father tonight a six-thirty. She's going to spend the night
with him."
Lorenzo
rubbed his hands together. "Perfect." He turned toward
the man. "Remember and reiterate this to the others. That child
is to be left out of this completely. I don't want that child hurt.
Forget she exists. Do I make myself clear?"
"Crystal,"
the man answered.
"Good.
Oh, and I want you to take Miss Davis as she leaves the father's
building. I want to send a message to Mr. Corinthos that I'm not
afraid of him, nor am I playing games."
"Got
it boss."
"That's
all. Call me on my secured line the minute you have her."
The
man nodded and left.
Lorenzo
waited until he was out of sight and then turned toward the bluff,
gripping the railing with both hands.
Tonight,
he thought to himself. Tonight he would get justice. He would avenge
his brother's death, deal with Sonny Corinthos and teach Carly Corinthos
a thing or two about messing with a man's emotions.
Sonny
walked his living room as he talked to Jason. "Just find out
who bought it." He turned toward the younger man. "I don't
like this. Someone was able to buy that property without my knowledge
and they bought it anonymously?" He shook his head. "Something's
up. Check Faith Roscoe, check everybody."
Jason
nodded his head. "Will do, but whoever bought it made sure
they covered their tracks."
"Well
you uncover them do you hear me?"
Jason
shrugged. "It's done. Don't worry."
Sonny
sighed. "All right. Let me know when you hear something."
Jason
nodded again. "Will do," he answered as he pulled open
the door to leave. He found Alexis standing on the other side poised
to knock.
"Jason,"
she acknowledged.
"Alexis,"
he responded, his eyes immediately going to Kristina. "She's
ah...she's a beautiful little girl," he said quietly.
"Thank
you."
"Welcome,"
he responded and let her pass by.
Sonny
set his water down on the bar and smiled at the sight of his daughter.
"Hey there little one," he said as he crossed the room
to greet her. "You gonna spend some time with dad tonight?"
He picked her up. "We're going to have fun tonight...yes we
are." He looked over at Alexis. "Stay for dinner?"
She
shook her head. "I can't. I made a date with Jax. We haven't
really had a chance to talk lately."
Sonny
shrugged. "If you'd rather spend your evening with Candy boy
rather than me and Kristina..."
"I'd
love one of your home cooked meals, but I need an adult night out.
I haven't had one in a while."
"You
go out and have a good time. We'll be fine."
Alexis
nodded. "All right. I have my cell phone if you have any problems...or
you can call Alice, she knows what to do for her."
Sonny
waved a hand. "I can handle it."
Alexis
smiled. "I know. I'll pick her up late morning if that's all
right. I have a breakfast meeting with a client."
"Yeah,
that's fine. We'll be here."
"Everything
you need is in her bag," she said dropping the bag onto the
couch.
Sonny
looked at Alexis staring at them and laughed. "Go, we'll be
fine."
"I
know...I haven't been separated from her for a whole night since
I got her back...it's me I'm worried about," she smiled.
"Go,"
Sonny said insistently.
"I'm
gone," Alexis said and placed one last kiss on her daughter's
head. "Be good for your daddy," she said as her eyes met
with Sonny's and he smiled at her. She blinked herself away from
his gaze and strode toward the door. "I'll see you both tomorrow."
"We'll
be waiting," Sonny replied.
Alexis
took the elevator to the parking garage and walked to her car. She
looked at her watch...she was late meeting Jax. She picked up her
pace and dug her keys out of her purse. She didn't even see the
man lurking near her car. She reached for the handle when a hand
clamped over hers.
"Your
presence has been requested elsewhere Miss Davis," came the
hushed gravely voice.
Alexis
tried to pull away. "What do you want?" she asked, trying
to keep the anxiousness out of her voice.
"It's
not what I want...now be a good girl and come with me."
Alexis
tightened her grip on her car door handle. "I'm not going anywhere,"
she said as she dug her heel into the man's shin.
He
yelped in pain and slammed the full force of his body against hers,
pinning her to her car. Once he hand her subdued, he turned her
around. "You want to make this difficult? I can be difficult,"
he said as he raised his hand.
"I'm
sorry I have to do this, but you're a little too feisty," he
sneered and brought his hand, close fisted, against the side of
her head.
She
barely had time to register before everything went black.
Sonny
had finally put Kristina to bed. Alexis was going to kill him when
she found out he had kept her up past eleven, but he couldn't help
himself. He was so in love with his little girl that he couldn't
stop wanting to be with her. Couldn't make himself put her to bed.
He finally did and stood gazing out at Port Charles through his
balcony window. Life was good right now. Carly was going to be out
of his life for good, he had a beautiful new daughter and though
he would never say it out loud, he was more happy than he would
let on about his re-kindled friendship with Alexis. Maybe, he thought,
maybe they could find a way to get back to where they were before
everything went sour. Maybe he would get a second chance to show
her what she had been to him before their falling out.
His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his door. He was startled
at first, but then smiled as he thought of Alexis, through with
her evening with Jax, not being able to stay away from her daughter.
He strode to the door and opened it. The last person he expected
to see at eleven-thirty at night standing at his door was staring
back at him.
"Jax,"
he said flatly. "Isn't it a little late?"
"Have
you heard from her?" Jax asked excitedly.
"Heard
from who?" Sonny's face crinkled in confusion.
"Alexis,
have you heard from her?" he said growing more impatient.
"Not
since she dropped Kristina off before she went to meet you."
He got a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach.
"Why?
What's going on?"
"Alexis
never showed up for our dinner date, that's what's going on."
Sonny
swallowed hard as his mind raced. "Have you tried calling her?"
"Several
times...on her cell, at home. I even tried Wyndemere."
Sonny
ran a hand through his head. "Get in here," he said and
Jax entered his penthouse. "When did you last talk to her?"
Jax
shrugged. "Right before she left to come here. She called and
said she was dropping Kristina off and then she'd be on her way."
"All
right. Let's think about this."
"What's
to think about? She's missing, Corinthos."
"I
realize that!" Sonny shouted. "I'm trying to figure out
what to do." He turned toward Jax. "Have you called Mac?"
Jax
shook his head. "Not yet."
"All
right. You do that and I'll get my men going."
Jax
nodded and moved to Sonny's phone. Sonny pulled out his cell and
started dialing. "Francais, check the garage and see if Miss
Davis' car is there...I'll wait." He said and put his hand
over the phone. "What did Mac say?" he asked Jax.
"He
said she's not considered missing until she's been gone twenty four
hours."
"Great.
Big help."
"He
said since it's Alexis though that he'll have a couple of men go
look for her."
He
nodded and his cell rang. "Yeah."
Jax
watched as Sonny's face went ashen and he hung up the cell. "Damn
it."
"What?"
Jax asked feverishly.
Sonny
looked at him. "Her car's still downstairs. She never made
it out of the building."
"Who
the hell would want to grab Alexis?" Jax asked.
Sonny
thought for a moment and then a something occurred to him. "I
gotta talk to Jason."
"What
does Jason have to do with this?"
"Someone
bought up one of my properties anonymously."
Jax
shrugged. "So?"
"So,
it's a dilapidated, run down warehouse at the end of the docks.
Very secluded. If the buyer is who I think it is, then this is bad."
