Alexis gathered her paperwork from the table in the judge's table and stuffed it into her briefcase. She could feel Carly's cold stare but chose to ignore it. Carly had been particularly hostile towards her the past few days and it wasn't until the just before this morning's proceedings that she understood why. Sonny had approached her as she entered the courthouse.

"Alexis," he called quietly.

She stopped and looked at him. "Sonny, we need to get into the judges chambers. It won't look good if you and I are having a conversation right at this moment."

"Just..." He looked around and saw an empty jury room nearby. "Here...let's go in there for a second," he said and walked through the door without waiting for an answer.

Alexis sighed and followed him in shutting the door behind her. She turned and looked at him. "What is it?"

Sonny cleared his throat. "Carly came to me the other night and well...she knows."

Alexis' eyebrow shot up. "She's known for a while now."

He shook his head. "No, I mean she knows that I know. She tried to make it look like she was telling me about it for my own good, but I let her know that I already knew and that I wasn't buying her innocent routine."

Alexis blew a puff of air from between her lips. "That explains the extra hostility she's been displaying."

"I think she eavesdropped on our conversation the other day."

"Why do you say that?"

He shrugged. "You know how Carly is. When's she's good and steamed she let's things slip. She knew that you invited me to see her, she let it slip that she saw me hugging you. She was there," he said with confidence.

Alexis breathed deep and then shrugged. "So who cares, she knows, it's over."

Sonny nodded. "I just wanted to warn you that she's plenty mad at you again."

Alexis rolled her eyes. "When isn't she? Look, I can handle it but we'd better get in there. Let me leave first."

"Yeah, I'll wait here a bit."

Alexis moved to the door and opened it a bit, looking out to make sure the coast was clear. She saw that it was and turned back to Sonny. "Thanks for the warning."

Sonny flipped his head at her. "Just go easy on me in there."

Alexis smiled and headed into chambers.

Now everything was done. Carly had sat almost completely mute as Alexis had explained to the judge and to Justus Ward that Sonny and Carly were willing to share joint custody of their sons. They had laid out the rules and regulations and in less than an hour they were done. The whole ugly Corinthos custody mess was over.

Alexis stood and pulled the strap of her briefcase over her shoulder preparing to leave when Carly stood up. "You think you've won don't you?" she asked snidely.

Alexis rolled her eyes. "Carly, this thing is over, you and Sonny have agreed to terms, you no longer have anything to hold over my head and as far as I'm concerned you and your arms dealing boyfriend can go and do whatever you want. I just sincerely hope that my contact with you is of the utmost brevity.

"You think Sonny is just going to run to you and tell you how much he wants you back?" Alexis smiled. "Sonny is my daughter's father and he has a lot of catching up with her to do. Other than that..." She held out her hands.

"You really think you're off the hook?"

Alexis turned and moved closer to Carly. "Your days of threatening me are over little girl. Stay the hell away from me and stay the hell away from my daughter or you'll know just what I've inherited from my Cassadine heritage. Do we understand one another Carly?"

Carly's mouth curled into a smile. "Oh, don't worry. You have nothing to worry about from me."

"Good," Alexis quipped and turned once again to leave.

"After all Alexis...it wasn't my brother you killed."

Alexis stopped dead in her tracks and turned her head to look at Carly. "You think I'm afraid of Lorenzo Alcazar?"

"I'm just saying he's still not over the fact that his brother's killer got off scott free." She walked past Alexis toward the door. "Well, have a nice life Alexis."

Alexis watched her exit the room and saunter down the hallway. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Was Carly being sincere or was she just blowing off steam that another one of her plans backfired in her face. She moved to a nearby chair and sat down. Everything in her life was falling neatly back into place and now she had to worry about Lorenzo Alcazar seeking revenge for his brother's death. One thought floated through her mind and brought her a small amount of relief. She had Sonny back on her side and he wasn't about to let Lorenzo anywhere near Kristina. He would protect them both. He had to.

Alexis wheeled the stroller containing her daughter through the park, stopping at a bench near a small fountain. It was a beautiful spring day. The trees were just starting to bloom and the smell of freshly planted flowers wafted on the warm breeze. She looked at her watch. Ten o'clock a.m. on the dot. He would be there any minute and she was nervous.

Sonny had called her last night and asked if he could meet them at the park in the morning. Alexis had agreed and here she was. She scanned the surrounding area until her eyes landed on the limousine pulling up to the curb across the park from where they were. Within minutes the door opened and Sonny emerged talking into his cell phone. He looked around until his eyes met hers and he gave a small wave as if to say he would be there in a minute.

Alexis took a deep breath and bent down to unhook the safety belt that secured Kristina into her stroller. She lifted the little girl up and held her on one hip as she pointed to Sonny, now strolling across the grass to meet them.

"There's your daddy little one."

Sonny strode toward them and stopped short of them flipping his head at Alexis. "Hey," he said with a smile.

"Hey."

"Thanks for...you know...agreeing to meet me."

"It's no problem," she said as she took in his attire. He wore a pair of tan chino pants and a blue button down shirt. She shook her head and smiled.

Sonny regarded her with confusion. "What?"

"Nothing...just...don't you ever just throw on jeans and a tee shirt? I mean, we're at a park for goodness sakes."

Sonny looked down and then back up. "I don't do jeans and tee shirts. I don't think I even own a pair of jeans." He looked at Kristina. "Hey there Kristina. How's my girl today?"

The little girl was busy playing with a strand of Alexis' hair when Alexis carefully handed her over to him. Kristina's face contorted and her lip trembled slightly as she looked desperately at her mother, squirming in Sonny's arms.
Alexis swallowed the large lump in her throat as she observed Sonny's crestfallen expression at Kristina's display of disapproval. The little girl reached her arms out toward her mother and whimpered. Sonny handed her back to Alexis and she immediately calmed.

Alexis cleared her throat. "I'm sorry...she just...she needs to get used to you that's all," she said quietly as guilt welled up inside her.

Sonny shook his head. "Hey, it's all right. I know it's gonna take some time."

Alexis looked away. "I feel so..."

Sonny reached out and put a hand on her arm. "Hey, it's okay really. She just met me the other day." He smiled. "By this time next year all she's going to know is that I'm her daddy and I love her. She won't remember not knowing me."

Alexis nodded nervously.

"Why don't you put her in the stroller and we'll walk for a little bit," he suggested.

"Good idea."

Lorenzo watched the scene from the car he had commandeered from one of his men. It was a plain blue nothing out of the ordinary car that would allow him to watch the new little family bond without being discovered. He watched as they strolled down the path over towards the swing sets where Alexis lifted Kristina out of her stroller and hoisted her into one of the baby swings. The girl squealed with delight as Sonny pushed her gently back in forth in the apparatus. Alexis stood slightly off to the side, but not too far from her little girl and watched with a gleeful expression while father and daughter bonded.

He wiped a hand across his chin and took a deep breath. A swell of anger rose in his throat as he continued to view the scene before him. His jaw clenched and he could feel his teeth grinding against one another.

This was supposed to be his scene. He was supposed to sweep in and be the perfect surrogate father to Carly's kids. But Alexis Davis had taken that away too with her antics in the courtroom. Instead of taking the kids and getting Carly full custody like she should have, she somehow convinced Corinthos to settle for joint custody. More stunningly though, is that she convinced Carly to go along with it. Carly had softened after Sonny agreed to joint custody. Whereas before she was angry with her estranged husband and willing to do what ever necessary to extricate herself and the kids from Sonny's life, he now saw the jealousy in her eyes. Jealousy that was brought on by yet another action of Alexis Davis. Jealousy that was causing Carly to want to fight for Sonny again. She didn't say as much, but he could see it. He could tell by the desperation she was displaying over the fact that Sonny now had a daughter. Not just a daughter, his first born child. And not just his first born child, but a child given to him by Alexis Davis.

He closed his eyes and took several short, sharp breathes before balling up his fist and banging it on the steering wheel. Alexis Davis was a thorn in his side from the moment he laid eyes on her. A thorn that needed to be dealt with.

Sonny laid in the grass on his side and rolled small rubber ball he had purchased on his way to the park towards Kristina who sat in the grass between her mother's legs. She giggled as the object rolled toward her and bounced against her tiny leg. "Okay sweetie, roll it back to daddy." Alexis encouraged as she helped her daughter propel the ball back in Sonny's direction.

"Come on sweetheart," Sonny coaxed. "Give daddy the ball."

The little one squealed and held the ball tightly between her tiny little hands, smiling the whole time. She had warmed up to Sonny over an hour ago, letting him push her on the swings, guide her down the small slide and raise her in the air up over his head while making airplane noises.

Alexis had watched the bonding with a mixture of joy and sadness. She should have never kept him from her. She cleared her throat. "What would you have done if I had told you right from the beginning?"

Sonny looked up and the cherubic smile that he had been displaying all morning dissipated. He lolled his head to one side. "I don't know. I mean it would have been a shock..."

"And bad timing," Alexis interjected.

Sonny's head raised up to look at her. He nodded. "Maybe, but that wouldn't have changed that I would have wanted her. We would've worked something out. I wouldn't have let you move out of the penthouse that's for sure."
Alexis looked down at the top of Kristina's head. "We...we both know that I couldn't stay there anymore...and not only because of Kristina."

"Carly." Sonny stated matter of factly and then reached out with a smile snatching the ball away from Kristina only to roll it right back to her.

Alexis nodded. "She wasn't very happy remembering what she saw and she wasn't going to let me forget it." She looked at the ground. "And I couldn't take her abuse." She closed her eyes. "I was an emotional wreck...I mean being pregnant and the way things turned out between..." She stopped not wanting to go there. She didn't want to tell him that she had been heartbroken.

Sonny stood up and dusted grass off of his pants. "Can I buy the two of you lunch?" he asked as he bent down and picked up Kristina before offering a hand to Alexis.

Alexis stood and looked at her daughter. "I guess we can accept that invitation."

Sonny smiled. "Good. We'll head over to Kelly's."

"We'll meet you there...I drove."

He nodded. "See you there." He watched as Alexis snapped Kristina back into her stroller and take off in the opposite direction towards her car. He was just about to turn around and head to his limo when he spotted the blue sedan nestled amongst the other cars that lined the park. He squinted and tried to make out the person sitting behind the wheel. The person who had started the engine the minute Alexis had walked away, and the person who was now slowly pulling out of his parking space and coasting down the street at a snails pace. He glanced back across the park and could make out Alexis closing the rear door of her SUV before getting in to her seat and starting the engine. He pulled out his cell phone and hit a button. "Max, where's Francais?

"Two block up sir," came the gruff voice of his body guard and limo driver.

"Good. Tell him there's a blue sedan coming his way. New York plates, I couldn't make the whole thing out but it started with a T. Have him tail that car and find out who is driving."

"Got ya boss."

"Oh, and tell him if that car is following Miss Davis that he is to contact me immediately. If he approaches her or my daughter before I can get there, he is to intervene at once."

"I'm on it sir."

He headed for the limo and stole one more glance toward where the blue sedan was. It was gone, but so was Alexis. His gut instincts were usually dead on, and this time they were telling him that who ever was in that car was tailing Alexis for some reason. He promised he would keep their daughter out of harm's way and damn it he was going to make good on that promise to Alexis. He climbed into the limo and instructed Max to head for Kelly's. He leaned back across the seat. He owed Alexis a promise.
